The inspiration behind me finally going to study fashion design after been able to to use a sewing machine since I'm 5 years old and drawing clothes since I'm 8 without any support from my caregivers, I'm going for it now

this is a decent video essay of owens' career and i appreciate the work you put into it. however, it's missing an extremely important event: the movie Otto or: Up With Dead People, which is a Sundance-recognized gay indie zombie film by Bruce LaBruce. This is where I was introduced to Rick Owens, who did wardrobe for the entire production, and it shows! The layering, draping, monochrome pattern mixing and artful decay is unmistakable. No history of Owens' work is complete without the inclusion of his work in this film, which is a modern camp masterpiece. Warning for anyone intending to watch it: it has a LOT of gore and very explicit sex scenes, so watch with caution lol
