Been a brand owner for 5 years and it’s a marathon bro Social media can make or break you but building a community behind your brand will give it a strong structure! Peace ✌🏾
One thing’s missing. The yearly collection with Fred Perry. He’s kind of leading the way FP is moving, keeping the grunges/punk dna, with full Raf design year after year. It’s underrated for sure.
Holy smokes - this is the truest form of fashion history I've found on YT. Coming from someone who's worked with ONEWARD, VF etc, this is the content I hope gets out to more folks!
Not sure if anyone else said it on here yet, but I believe the “NEBRASKA” sweatshirts are in reference to Basquiat. There’s a very famous photo of him wearing a “Nebraska” football Jersey from the 80s. And I feel this fits in line with Raf’s aesthetic and love of rebelliousness and art
It may be hard to believe, but the Riot - Virginia Creeeper - Consumed era collections were hard work to sell. They were well received in the alternative fashion media, but consumer bases were scant. We had boxes of the stuff from all these collections, going at 70% off, and still hardly shifting. The late 90s early 00s mens fashion world was not locked into a celebrity culture. The context now has shifted, and we see this as position normal.
great video! as someone who loves fashion and wearing clothes I am trying to brush up on the history of the brands and designers that I love, your videos have been very fundamental in helping me do that. Thank you.
Your station and videos are inspirational not only to designers, whom I see many comments from! but anyone can appreciate your comprehensive and eclectic content . even a bit spiritual ! I love how you work the concept of fate, timing , and destiny into these docs ..I’m sure you inspire a lot of fashion designers
Threaducation your channel got me into fashion and wanting to learn more about this amazing form of art. Thank you for this video, looking forward to many more :-)
As a clothing designer myself, im very very inspired by the likes of Raf & Rick, there was information in this I didn't know at all, some of the best designers in the world want to be nobody, passion over accolades 🖤
I don’t understand why people always associate Raf and Rick, like they don’t have a lot in common, their approachs are very different. I would rather make a link between Raf and Undercover for example. But anyway, I respect the fact that you have these as inspirations, they are both incredible designers.
Haven't watched this episode yet (already know it's gonna be fire)...but after you watch it, go watch the Raf doc Dior And I. It's phenomenal and shows Raf's genius in it's rawest form.
Great video as always!! I had a mind blown moment with the Nebraska logo. RAF being the original reference on the continued use of the word Nebraska in street wear. Makes sense and connects many dots.
The video implies Raf at CK was a downmarket move but Calvin Klein’s RTW and diffusion lines (the jeans, underwear, perfurm, etc) were made by 2 separate companies. The RTW was just as prestigious as any American label could be, but the diffusion lines eclipsed the brand, and made the RTW unsellable to high-end retail buyers.
Great video bro I am a die hard Raf fan I have alot of his older archival pieces and I love to study his older collections so this video came at the right time. Now I def want to get some more pieces thanks to this video since I sold one of my AW 2000-2001 "Confusion" patched sweaters. I def want to get some more Black Palms pieces I only have 1 from that collection.
super well done small documentary on Raf Simons, I slowly get to his works.. a lot fire stuff but all my fav pieces are crazy expensive, but it's make it more fire tho. thanks.
I love the storytelling approach to this video. Very comprehensive and educational. New fan! PS Not a big fan of Raf on his own. If we can’t explain why a sweater with the word Nebraska on the front was popular as a fashion piece then it’s a case of the emperor has no clothes. I do though enjoy his work at Prada.
Adidas and Rocky introduced me my brother hated the osweegos but im a brand owner and aspiring designer so i saw the beauty in them on the please don’t touch my rafs video
That's me together with Michael in the first video (AW95/96) Raf made. We created a bunch of promotional videos, 4 IIRC. All extremely cheap and guerilla style since there was no money. Little did we realise what an exceptional moment we were being a part of. Good times! I still have some of the prototypes used in that video.
sorry for the delay on this one but I know you guys like the longer videos - and I had to do Raf justice - enjoy!
Take your time btw
def take your time fam, all is good. for me you can hit with video 1 per month, it's fire how you moving
inspirational can you do sicko next?
You da goatt stay like designers and keep doing you
@@mehradakhondi7657 he did Ian Connor already so watch that

Right! owning a clothing brand isn’t easy & takes a lot of mental toughness
