I’m a sales Rep in East Texas for JD and I always explain the Mechanical Grapple operates kind of like a Claw Machine, not as efficient but will get the job done but if your not solely making a decision by price I always recommend the Hydraulics, it’s a good investment!

I have that Frontier Mechanical Grapple that you showed in your video and i love it. Its heavier and better built than the other brush crusher mechanical grapple. I have used it to clean up storm damaged debris and even used it to teardown an old 8ft wide by 18ft long storage building by hooking it with the top teeth of the grapple and pulling and ripping the walls down. I was very impressed how well it worked and preformed the task i used it for on that building. I would highly recommend the Frontier Mechanical grapple as a good alternative to spending the money to install a 3rd function on the loader.

I have the mechanical grapple and personally I think it's heavier built. You can also you I as a root rake getting up roots a inch or so below the surface. It is well braced and it opens up wider as well as you mentioned how the top clamp goes all the way across so you have more surface area. Makes it to where you can use the corner to grab certain things etc.
