I have been watchin your vids for about a year now.. I love them. I got both of my Boys watching them also. I live in Birmingham Alabama. I go camping when I can , but the Tent is awesome.Your Dads Cabin is unreal. Keep posting my friend.
Thank you for the nice comment. I have a new "The Tent" video uploading now as I type this. It is over an hour long. I also go over in the video and take a peek at the folks cabin as well. Please say hello to your boys for me. Thanks again. Joe
Great job and wise decision, Joe, to cure it at your home vs at The Tent! Glad you found a model close to the one you replaced! White Vinegar and original Blue Dawn dishsoap = magic! Another great product is BarKeeper's Friend; you can find it at Lowe's/Home Depot in a powder shaker (like old fashioned Comet) or liquid.
I now this is a older video, but sure you get this, I work around stainless steal alot and what we use to clean it is a SOS pad, works great, love your videos, keep them coming
My sister lives in Florida and prayers are being said. It looks like it might go up the left side of Florida now. That puts you on the bad side of it but not in the eye. Many prayers, this is not going to end well for some people.
Thanks for another great video.I to am heading to my cabin this weekend for a workparty. Time for a new roof. It has been 29 years for the original section (15 year shingles) and 16 years for the addition section with 20 year shingles on it. The newer shingles are the reason. All cracked and curled up.Hoping to have a new wood stove installed by our hunting season here in NY. Anyways look forward to your next video.Thank you again. Glenn
Looks good Joe!!!! You should get you some of that "Stove Black" and do the warming tray and the whole thing will look like brand new! That seems to be a really good quality stove, that is what has sold me on getting one for camp. You have become their salesman!! LOL Juddie
I would add the grate which was listed on the instruction sheet. At the very least, a layer of sand or fire brick on the bottom would improve longevity and function. Enjoy your new stove.
Good vid Joe! Very good presentation on the stove.. The company that makes them should help sponsor your videos... enjoy time at your camp! Keep the videos coming! Barry Deacon, Manitoba Canada👍
They are not sponsoring me at all, I just have had such good luck with the first stove and how long it lasted and everyone that follows the Tent videos has watched the stove age right along with me and knows how much it gets used. I do not mind showing off something I know is a good product.
JoeandZachSurvival they do look awsome. I've watched you build countless fires in them in your videos and the last one held up really well. They should at the very least buy you a pork steak😉 for all the free advertising you do for them.
Different process than cast iron. The new stoves have uncured paint and oil on them you need to burn off. It smokes and smells like chemicals and you don't want to breathe that in a tent.
Just got a similar set up from Davis Tent. I have the shiny silver stove pipe. Any difference between the black and silver?? I've heard the black is better because of poisonous fumes?
Did you can more butter to take up to the cabin? Why do you heat shower water in a pot instead of the stainless steel tank? What water do you heat in that tank? I don't ever remember you using it before? xoxo from Arizona.
i use 5/8 copper tubing to heat up water just wrap around the stove pipe and hook it up to a water heater works great a small 20-gallon tank or even a 5-gal. tank.
Joe, do you feel it necessary to have stove pipe double walled? For safety? I am a novice at wood stoves. What is the rock you put under the stove? Thanks
I have cooked many many meals on that wood stove. It is easy to regulate the heat also. You slide it back towards the stove pipe for real hot and you slide it towards the front for low heat and if the stove is a little too hot you can slide the pan over a little on the shelf since it is exactly the same height as the stove top. Then you can shut the damper and draft down on the stove and it drops pretty fast and you slide the pan back on the stove. You see more of the wood stove cooking in my earlier Tent videos.
I normally never do. Sometimes I will take my 9mm with me but rarely. The animals are more afraid of people than I am of them. They always run. The only time I do is when the raspberries are ripe and I am going out to check a stand or a trail camera. You never know if you will get between a bear and her young. That is pretty much the only time there could be an issue.
I have yes and it works well its just easier to put it in a pot on the top of the stove since a person rarely needs hot water when you actually look at how much you use it through the day. The water in that reservoir is constantly boiling so it evaporates away.
Have you ever thought about wrapping underneath of stove in copper pipe and around bottom of stove pipe? Sort of pump water through slowly when you need hot water for washing dishes and shower. Kind of an on demand warm/hot water supply, at least in winter/fall/spring months.
It is a good idea and yes I have looked into that, the problem is that I am normally here all alone and heating water has just became part of my routine. When you are here you always have something to do and heating water is one of them. If I had multiple people the hot water on demand would be a great thing to have, Thank you.
It seems like starting up the stove is almost always one of the first things you do. And you have the stainless steel water heater right there on the side, yet I don't think I have ever seen you take any water out of that heater. Instead you heat pots of water on the gas stove for showers. is it just too much of a pain to fill up with water? wouldn't you just need to add some cold water to a partial pot of hot water for a nice hot shower? Just curious to why you would clean it all up and put it back on when it doesn't seem to get very much use.
Hey Joe!! I was wondering why you don't go to a real air tight stove? You can keep more constant heat and burn less wood? Keep up the good work brother!!
Joe, just occured to me, you have a water heater on the side of the wood stove, I've never seen you use it? I would think that would be great to heat your shower water! Do you not use it? Or do you just not show it being utilized? Keep up the great work, love the videos!! Take care.
I did in the past but it is not very efficient because the water just boils away. It is much easier doing it the way I do it but that water heater does work well if needed.
I am sure you could. You may have an issue with your insurance company depending on what state you live in but as far as the stove is concerned she really heats well.
I never burn glossy paper in mine gives off a horrible sticky residue Also I never use lighter fluid as it heats up too fast and causes stress on the stove (could warp over time) I only use untreated seasoned wood , looks after your stove and you will get a lifetime from it not just a decade
When are you going to build a cabin? I hope I'm still alive and kicking when you post those videos. Just curious to see what you'll do different than your folks place.
She looks like a winner, Joe. Can't wait to see her in the tent!
I am sitting here in the Tent right now and the new girl is doing her job. It is nice and toasty in here.
I live in the UK, what a fantastic life you woodsman lead, very jealous, keep up the videos!
Looking forward to the first use at the tent! Thank you for sharing with us, Joe!
Thanks for keeping us updated Joe! Looking forward to getting a look at it in the tent while it's still new and shiny!
Now, this Joe...
...is a dandy of a stove!
Can't wait to see her installed back at The Tent...

The water container cleaned up right nice. Looking forward to the install at the cabin.
The older parts cleaned up really well! Looks great!
I have watched so many of your videos, I hear your voice in my sleep.
Love the wood burner. I have mine all cleaned and ready for winter. Nice job.
Can't wait to see the new stove in action...yes i agree deer season is around the corner ....52 deg. this morning in West Tennessee ....
Great job and wise decision, Joe, to cure it at your home vs at The Tent! Glad you found a model close to the one you replaced! White Vinegar and original Blue Dawn dishsoap = magic! Nice stove Joe. Looking forward to seeing it in use at the tent. Got my deer tags here in SC two weeks ago.
I now this is a older video, but sure you get this, I work around stainless steal alot and what we use to clean it is a SOS pad, works great, love your videos, keep them coming
Hi Joe the new stove looks great they would be super for a canvas cabin tent also. Might have to look into that for deer and elk season.
Good vid mate, always happy to know your heading to the tent. Love to the family...😎👍🇦🇺
What a way to live life, natural and stress free! I like the way you laugh 😁
Deer Hunting season in a heated tent; good times! Thanks for the video.
YES....still your vids...pray for us in Florida!
My sister lives in Florida and prayers are being said. It looks like it might go up the left side of Florida now. That puts you on the bad side of it but not in the eye. Many prayers, this is not going to end well for some people.
I love finding a great product like that! thanks Joe
Just love that stove. We had one wit a full water tank o the back, it was totally perfect 👌🏽 great job
Awesome video Joe. Looking forward to your Deer hunting video this year.
Brilliant! Learn something new every time. Thank you
Got to start using that tank. Thanks Joe.

That is a solid company! Seem like you had a good experience with getting the new stove with out hassle. I will definitely go with cylinder stove!
Very Nice Stove, Joe. I'm wanting to get 1 of them too.
Nice Looking Cylinder Stove, Hope You Get Many Year's Out Of It.
Water tank came up real well. Looks great mate. Cheers Moose.
Great looking stove. Nice setup.
The new stove looks awesome!
These videos are addicting (Well for me, anyway. The wife rolls her eyes and watches TV in the bedroom). You always find something new that you learn.
Love watching your vids especially your winter vids, very very relaxing 👍🏽
Looks good Joe!!!! You should get you some of that "Stove Black" and do the warming tray and the whole thing will look like brand new! That seems to be a really good quality stove, that is what has sold me on getting one for camp. You have become their salesman!! LOL Juddie
That is a great looking stove. Time to split some wood. Thanks Joe.
LOOKIN GOOD JOE..
That's cool Joe. Jim in Yosemite, Ca.
Right on Joe!
Thanks, Joe! What? No starter fluid?!!! Nice stove!! Looking forward to more videos!!
Looks great
I would add the grate which was listed on the instruction sheet. At the very least, a layer of sand or fire brick on the bottom would improve longevity and function. Enjoy your new stove.
I've heard this being done before, with an inch of sand on the bottom..to slow the heat decay on the bottom....
Good vid Joe! Very good presentation on the stove.. The company that makes them should help sponsor your videos... enjoy time at your camp! Keep the videos coming! Barry Deacon, Manitoba Canada👍
I love Cylinder Stoves.
Nice one Joe! I can't wait till I see it getting used at the cabin! I'm sure the new stove will have its share of lighter fluid lol
For all the times that stove has been on your videos, those guys should sponsor you
Looking forward to seeing it installed in the tent :) And another weekend long tent video, After all Deer season is coming :)
Those are truly great stoves. I need to get one for my place I'm going to build.
What part of Minnesota do you guys duck hunt on the opener?
Love your videos....
If that stove company is not sponsoring your channel they should be, now I want one for my shop.
Hey Joe, I think you should do a special 2 hour video for deer season and the winter trip. "2 hours a piece that is"😀
Thanks for the video you did an awesome job
didn't realize you needed to season a stove like that, makes sense though. thanks joe
Different process than cast iron. The new stoves have uncured paint and oil on them you need to burn off. It smokes and smells like chemicals and you don't want to breathe that in a tent.
What size or the particular name for that size from cylinderstoves?
Just got a similar set up from Davis Tent.
I have the shiny silver stove pipe.
Any difference between the black and silver??
I've heard the black is better because of poisonous fumes?
Black is usually thicker and heavier. The silver is more camping friendly because it is lighter.
Great looking stove
Ok thank you because I like when you and Sara or u and Zack or you alone go because I like fishing to
I would rather have 2 ft of snow than that nasty southern heat. Nice video kokamo Joe
Nice rig love it.
Which model do you have, and has it been since you bought it a few years ago?
Where does one buy this stove? Interesting video!
Hey Joe do you use a grate in the bottom of your stove?
I use no grate.
@@JoeandZachSurvival that's what i thought. The metal in them stoves must be pretty thick then?
I wonder if you can install secondary burn oxygen input pipes
Great video! Which model stove is this one?
Where's the live feed of y'all headed down to the tent???
Did you can more butter to take up to the cabin? Why do you heat shower water in a pot instead of the stainless steel tank? What water do you heat in that tank? I don't ever remember you using it before? xoxo from Arizona.
im looking for first time set up of the stove. how to get sstove pipe in and straight
i use 5/8 copper tubing to heat up water just wrap around the stove pipe and hook it up to a water heater works great a small 20-gallon tank or even a 5-gal. tank.
I have heard you mention LA several times in your videos. What do you do down there? Work?
Watch the videos on my other channel called Northern Seclusion. The whole story is told there.
Joe, what model is this one.
It is the middle one. They have 3 sizes.
Can that shelf flip over to the more unused side?
Out o all your videos I don't remember ever seeing you use the water tank on the side of the stove
How much water does the tank hold? I've been to about five different websites and nobody mentions that.
Joe, do you feel it necessary to have stove pipe double walled? For safety? I am a novice at wood stoves.
What is the rock you put under the stove? Thanks
Hear in upstate NY theres nothing better than the leaves at peak and then huntin&campin season. After that, back to Fla.
which stove version is this one, alpine, timberline, spruce, or mesa?
Curious, how effective is the stove as a cook stove?
I have cooked many many meals on that wood stove. It is easy to regulate the heat also. You slide it back towards the stove pipe for real hot and you slide it towards the front for low heat and if the stove is a little too hot you can slide the pan over a little on the shelf since it is exactly the same height as the stove top. Then you can shut the damper and draft down on the stove and it drops pretty fast and you slide the pan back on the stove. You see more of the wood stove cooking in my earlier Tent videos.
Placement of the damper: if putting it up 15" gives more heated flue then why not put it up higher? Just wondering.
What model stove do you have and what is the size of the tent?
Should you not get a second stove for the tent, since you rely on them in winter for food / heat?
No need, that old stove would have went a couple more years for sure. I am confident I will have no issues.
Can't wait for the lake crossing during the winter. Do you carry a side arm at the tent? Seems like the wolves on the trail cam would make me nervous.
Very nice stove I would love to have one. Be safe you can send me the deer tails for fly tying.
I’m thinking of getting one but don’t know how does it weight ?
Do you ever put water in the water tank on the stove
I have yes and it works well its just easier to put it in a pot on the top of the stove since a person rarely needs hot water when you actually look at how much you use it through the day. The water in that reservoir is constantly boiling so it evaporates away.

deer season is upon us for sure...archery starts here this Saturday
Love your videos! Can that stove be installed in a home too? I find most stoves SO expensive. Thanks.
I am sure you could. You may have an issue with your insurance company depending on what state you live in but as far as the stove is concerned she really heats well.
What name brand please
Cylinder Stoves. That is the company name. Cylinder stoves company. Not the ones out of Colorado.
Would be good if you could have a water heater on both sides. Would hold more heat and have more hot water.
and rain forest inside your tent

Shaun-Dawson
Yes it creates a lot of creosote and that's the first time I've ever seen someone use lighter fluid was on Joe's video about a year ago.
no door gasket Joe?
Put sand or fire bricks, in the bottom to protect the stove!
When are you going to build a cabin? I hope I'm still alive and kicking when you post those videos. Just curious to see what you'll do different than your folks place.
Is the cheminey include
Yes
Love Minnesota accent, Ohh
