Owners of the 15,16 models with 4X4 auto option should be aware that when in 4h or 4L with engine idling or stopped the transfer case disengages, therefore do not rely on your front tires grip to hold your vehicle on a slop. Only your rear wheels will be blocked by transmission parking position and also by your E-Brake. Front wheels will be free. if your rear wheels give way due to snow, ice, or seaweed on a boat ramp and you feel safe because the front wheels are on dry pavement you may encounter a very bad surprise. the vehicle will go. Not what you expect from a 4x4. Shame cause in high trim those are beautiful trucks. This video mentions the transmission as having issues I think the ZF transmission is the most dependable and most intelligent of all, the TCM adapts the tune to the driver behavior, and it steps down gear very well to use engine braking, saving on brake pads etc. Just replace (life) fluid and pan-filter every 60K. Not every Hemi will develop the ticking sound due to cams eaten through. Use 5W30 oil for better lubrification.
I agree with you on the ZF. Very good transmission. Finally they came up with a more reliable transmission. First few gens were not so good. I wouldn’t of purchased a Ram in 2019 if it weren’t for the ZF. I want a good power train and Ram provides this. Hemi and ZF. The rest I can deal with. 👍
I bought a new ram 1500 hemi had to replace my engine at 139000 km and now my torque converter when i fix that no more rams dodges and chrislers jeeps and all that garbage . Stop buying them people 🙏 and thx . I haven't been to any vacations because of my rams it hasn't help me make money its sad for me and others
If you have electric power steering on your Ram and it goes out, it is very expensive to be repaired. Dodge does not make the rack and pinion any more, so you have to get a remanufactured one and have it deprogrammed and reprogrammed. Power steering will go out without notice and the dash will flash "service power steering" which means virtually nothing. Hundreds of electric rack and pinions have had issues but Dodge has not bee required to have a recall. Pathetic.

Bought new a 2012 with no major problems and only 53,000 miles on it today. Just love the truck.
How's it holding up
