I would like to see more videos using plasti dip in motorcycles. Questions like: Is it possible to paint the gas tank without removing ? Is it possible to paint spoke wheels ? Also, Can I use the glossifier alone in the original painting ? Just to protect it without changing the color ?
carry a small rag or shop towel with you on your bike for when you pump gas.. place it around your tank before you fill to catch drops, and be careful with the rest...
how easy it to remove plasti dip from fenders and fairings if you need to? say you change your mind about the color you choose 1 year after install? Also, if you do want a different color do you remove the old first or spray over?
Excellent videos bro! Any info on dipping motorcycle spokes rims? Does it throw off balance at all and do u recommend clear coating to make em last longer on there? Thanks
Can you plasti dip over matte paint like on my Victory highball and if so will I be able to peel it off a year or so later with out harming the matte finish if I choose to want the original color back?
I'm going to spray plasti dip on the bumpers of my toyota pickup, but I already sprayed duplicolor bedliner on my front lower valance. Will the dip adhere to the bedliner, or no? I know I can just peel it off if it doesn't stick, I just want to save myself the time and effort of peeling it off if it doesn't adhere.
fonzie can you show us what a diamond cut wheel/silver is like when dipped just with the silver metalizer? i'm thinking of doing my rotiform blq rims, but not sure what the outcome will be. thanks!
How many cans would you need to totally spray up a fully faired sportsbike? I'm in two minds whether to use rattle cans or invest in an electric compressor
hey i recently tried to dip my nissan frontier front grille, and it was a pretty hot day out(75-90 degrees) i took off the grill and started spraying, it was like normal plasti-dip untill i reached the 3rd coat, i think it got to hot and every time after i tried spraying a new coat it was just getting like sand paper feeling the final product still pealed off like plasti dip but was a ruff bed liner feeling.. idk im redoing it next week
Will plasti dip bond with plastic? I want to black out the inside on my headlights and would prefer to not do the whole buff, adhesion promoter, primer and paint since it's plastic parts. Thanks for your time!
I think you can plasti dip anything? I have no idea but im pretty sure it doesnt "bond" like primer or paint. It just makes like a rubber shell around whatever its applied too.
Buffing isn't necessary. The main selling point of Plasti-dip is being able to just pull if off when you're done or want a different look. If you buff and area, it may make it difficult to remove later and when you do, that area is scuffed up. That's why you can spray an entire item that has a lens because you can easily pull it off of the glass/clear plastic parts.
Ive been wondering this for a while and I hope someone has an answer, but let's say I Plasti Dip my car white (like the M3 in one of their other videos) but wanted the badges to be Plasti Dipped black would it still peel off like it would on a non Plasti Dipped surface, or would it adhere to the white dips surface like a new coat? I would assume since you tape off a general area of the emblems with tape that when removing the tape it would lift from the white dipped surface allowing you to peel
what about tightening the screws into the dipped parts? does it grab the dip and twist it? I've done bootleg spraypaint jobs on an old blaster quad, and noticed that was a problem.
Got a question I'm doing my bike flat black like the video got the tail section Don but can't figure out the best thing to clean it with afterwords for a spot free finish
can you dip motorcycle wheels? the one with wires or cables not the hard one piece spoked ones? found a guy in america that had great success but it should be more dificult than normal or is it as easy as with any other part? need big help. :(
Did you try this out? I'm also curious about clear-coated graphics thing... The stickers on my bike must be at least 3 mils thick, so I'm wondering if the dip can cover that well, or if you can still see the sticker outline after you dip...
Im planning on using Plasti dip for my front forks, the problem is the person who owned the bike before me painted the forks with a different paint, is it like normal spray paint where you need a primer and finishes? and do you need to remove all the old paint to put on a new layer?
Forgot to mention to clean the nozzle when the plasti-dip builds up on it with a rag or paper towel as you go, otherwise it may create a nice blob on your project!
Dipping over stickers: How does Dip handle being sprayed on something like an 07+ CBR? Honda use to put clearcoat over their graphics, but now the wings on their CBRs are just exposed stickers. will this pull those sticks off when you want to remove the dip?
hey i have motorcycle fairings that are plastic with decal stickers on them. can i plasti dip over the stickers no problem?... i dont want to remove them
I want to dip mi speedfight 3 to matt black. do i need to get al the panels of my scooter or could i leave it on the scooter and just dip beacause its al lot of work to put it all together
what if i wanted to plastidip both sides of an object like my pegs on my motorcycle. how would i do this, plastidip one side then let it dry and spray the other side?? please let me know cause i have no clue
Just recently bought a motorcycle. And I have been watching alot of your videos. But I notice you DONT do any motorcycle videos. Besides for this one. Can you do some . I want to DIP my motorcycle. And no it's not a sport bike. It's a tour bike with fairing and hardbags with a tourpak.
Ive dipped my parts before but i always get the same outcome when it comes to the very bottom fairing piece. the dip goes on perfect and the finished adds a really nice matte black/white look. After about 6 months when I decided to redip the parts the botttom always looks like it has been eaten away by something or its been dissolving and hardening over and over. a couple times it would be mushy in texture as i peel. Any ideas on how to fix it?
Maybe dumb question but... if you dip your motorcycle, especially in areas close to the back wheel and chain, how easy is to clean grease spots that fly around from the chain? is there any reaction with chain degreaser sprays?
no question is dumb my friend. I would say so long as there is a clear coat (at least two coats or more), there should be no real issues with ruining the color scheme. And when you clean up the items with chain wax, road grime, etc. use some sort of solvent that does not damage paint finishes. If you don't apply clear coats, you may run into issues through time though as it is the clear coat that does all the protecting.
Hiyaaaa! Thanks for sharing! Hope you wont mind me sharing.. have you done business with " Vidadsmedia Two Wheeler Supply Review " (Have a quick look on google...cant remember the exact words)? My brother who owns a motorcycle had some dealings with them and was impressed by their amazing customer service.
9 years later, I still use this info. An update video would be great.
Can you show this process on a sport bike with plastic fairings? I think a lot of people need a video on the best method

This stuff would be great for track days! Instead of using tape to cover up your blinkers, mirrors and lights etc...
fonzie can you show us what a diamond cut wheel/silver is like when dipped just with the silver metalizer? i'm thinking of doing my rotiform blq rims, but not sure what the outcome will be. thanks!

Should i plasti dip my 22" chrome rims for my truck? Idk cuz i think its gonna look cheap on a big rims. Tips?
I wanted to try this on my 14 street glide and wondering if u would recommend the small car kit or just multiple spray cans
You don't have to sand and buff the chrome to get the dip to adhere?
hey i recently tried to dip my nissan frontier front grille, and it was a pretty hot day out(75-90 degrees) i took off the grill and started spraying, it was like normal plasti-dip untill i reached the 3rd coat, i think it got to hot and every time after i tried spraying a new coat it was just getting like sand paper feeling the final product still pealed off like plasti dip but was a ruff bed liner feeling.. idk im redoing it next week

Totally depends on how quickly that 180mph drops back down to zero (and so do you).
