    Really nice turnout. I would suggest painting with a vertical application, using spray cans. Allowing to dry in the flat position. Heating cans Pryor and a heat source while drying. Orange peel should be almost eliminated. Great video really showed the diff in products.

    Plasti Dip can be a mess, but I love the concept that you can peel it off. It’s very easy once you know how to apply it. Just make sure you apply it thick or it’s a paint to come off. If you put it on thick, it’s actually very satisfying when you go to peel it off 😅

    Thanks. ..I have used duplicolor clear coat over carbon black it's a bit orange peely and works best and smooths out good if you put it on straight away while the black is still wet and comes out nice and glossy and don't forget to pull any masking tape off while it's wet or you'll be wasting a lot of time and money
    Also drop those cans in some hot water before spraying and wipe water off can hope this helps people

      Drop cans in hot water??????🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔

    • @wtfisdat6382
      @wtfisdat6382 Год назад +1

      @@raskalteekayesssgaxg360 ya. Hot (not boiling, just hand washing hot) water will evenly heat the cans. Hot air expands inside the can, making more pressure. More pressure gives you a finer spray which usually results in less orange peel. A small bucket with your water and cans in for about 5-10 minutes will do wonders for the quality of your rattle can jobs, ESPECIALLY if temps are below 70 f.
      Try it you next (any) can of rattle can paint and don't forget to shake it thoroughly for 60-120 seconds. Shake between layers too (30-45 seconds)

    No matter how thick I lay down those peel off paints, it takes me forever to peel them off. Over time they get dry and brrittle and break when you try to peen them. A pain in the rear but useful in many ways, like the way you used it. They are great for racing stripes. Did my alloy wheels, looked great, held p great, Almost impossibleto get all of that stuff off the wheels. Acetone does nothing. Great and helpful video. Thanks.

    It would have been useful to show us a close up of the factory paint to see if orange peel was visible.

    Plastidip do a one can glossy product now, have you tried that? Also any reason why you opted not to try HyperDip?
    I'm planning to dechrome my car so just researching which product to go for.
    Cheers

      You’re supposed to do it that way. Don’t listen to the “official” directions or it’ll be a pain in the ass to peel off later.

    Great video and representation. But the orange peel on the final product was horrendous. 6 light coats would definitely have yielded a better result since it's not self-leveling.

    I have the exact l405 and I used hyperdip last year and this year I did the rustoleum vynil wrap. I will try this one next. I was fixing some curb rash but the wheel paint dont match the gloss of the rims. Did you paint your rims or had to paint areas? Which paint you used?

    What if you used the paint in the hard to reach grooves since those aren't as noticed and then vinyl wrap the smooth surface. That way you get the black without fighting the tight areas.

    • @imjoshv
      @imjoshv  3 года назад +1

      Thats a thought, but the vinyl doesnt like to stick to spray painted surfaces too well. You can use a primer for the vinyl like Primer 94 to help but i dont know how long it would hold

    You used too much material off the rip. Use very light robotic passes, putting on less than 1/2 of what you’re using. Elevate pieces to at least hip high, on the ground remains a dust cloud(think surgical). Often fish eyes are from surface Contaminants less will appear if pieces are elevated. This will start to get you the results you’re seeking. I can get factory results with trash ass rusto cans from hardware store. Thanks for the video, these are just tips from my experience. Highend finisher of 17yrs
