Diffusing essential oils is probably the safest and most effective way to enjoy the remarkable benefits of essential oils - BUT you have to know which oils to use and which ones to avoid! How many of you are diffusing essential oils? I'd be curious to find out which oils you are using and why? Will you leave a comment and let me know?
but can we diffuse oregano as long as it is blended with other oils? 😊
Eucalyptus
Hi. Very much an eye opener on your never to use oils in your diffuser. There are so many videos and people selling EO but you are the first I listened to that explain why. I am new to essential oils and actually got interested in diffusing for health benefits and what to use to keep my family healthy during the winter months. With Covid and flu season upon us I want to do whatever I can to enjoy a happy healthy winter. The one essential oil I have been diffusing a lot is Thieves. Is this a beneficial oil to use? I have a pregnant daughter in law and I don"t infuse any oil when she is around because of not being sure if they are safe for her. I look forward learning more about these different oils and their uses. Thank you
@@gel8339 yes...but only use 1 drop in the diffuser and maybe 7 drops of a gentler oil like lavender
I'd love that list
Thanks a lot Amy, the info is very helpful.
Glad it was helpful!
It is so gracious for you to do these important and informative videos! Thank you.
of course1. thanks for watching! what was your biggest take away?
The list above is very helpful, listing botanical names with common names. It answered my questions. Thank you for talking about safely using essential oils. There isn't enough of that in the general population.
so glad you found this valuable! I agree, we need to share more info like this. Thanks for watching.
Thank you, Amy for this really informative video! Finally a nice, clear round up of practical and important knowledge. This is somehow not so much heard of...🤔 It was a great idea! 😊
Thanks so much for watching and for finding it valuable! What was your biggest take away?
Thank you for this informative video. As I continue on my essential oil journey, the dangers aren't often addressed.
thanks for watching and I am so happy you found it useful! Let me know if you have any other essential oil questions!
Great info
thanks
Thanks, very informational. I diffuse essential oils so these is great information.
Thanks for watching - let me know what your biggest take away was!
So glad I found this vid, best list ever! And an easy list of alternatives. Question will any essential oil (Thera grade) that is already cut into a carrier oil be okay to diffuse as well? (I understand there may have issues if it is diluted in a carrier oil base like almond, apricot, sesame, or coconut fr., right?)
I've started my own aromatherapy, basic line. I want to do more to help people be healthier and empowered to make the right decisions on their own as well. I will definitely be looking into your classes and certifications. I find your newsletters and vids clear, concise and very easy to digest.
Thanks for this great message! Glad you are finding such great value - you shouldn't ever use a diluted essential oil in a carrier oil in a diffuser, it will most likely clog it up. So only use the pure oil - not when it is mixed or blended into a carrier. Also, the term, "therapeutic grade" is actually just a marketing term. In the industry of aromatherapy and essential oil world there is no official "grading" process. I'd love to learn more about your aromtherapy line! Please email me directly and tell me more! amy@amygalper.com
Hola 👋
Excelente video !!
¿Puedo usar en el difusor FIR DOUGLAS?
douglas fir is safe!
I came across your channel as I am doing research on Mugworth essential oils. Actually I would like to know its benefits and how I can use it. Thanks
Thanks for your question - sorry I took so long to answer you. To be honest, I would never use Mugwort essential oil. But as an herb, for herbal medicine, it can be used, but I would consult with an herbalist
Any others? This is good info! I gassed myself out with some Himalayan cedarwood and it wasnt fun!
Hmmm...i think this is a farily comprehensive list of the most intense ones. But always be careful and keep a window open!
Hi Amy. I am assuming you mean the thymol chemotype of Thyme (which I didn't hear you mention in your video, but is on your list)?
Yes! The linalool chemotype still has a fairly large percentage of Thymol, so I'd still avoid it. But I suppose you could up the linalool by blending it with Lavender, Bergamot, Clary Sage or Coriander Seed which are oils that are all high in linalook- to mellow out the Thymol. Thanks for watching and for such a great comment!
I’m so glad I saw this. I was planning on giving my daughter some Clary Sage to diffuse to remove the negative energy from her house after they kicked out their houseguest. Can it be diffused with other oils?
Clary Sage is very safe to diffuse! Sage officinalis is not. So not to worry! Sage has many different species. Clary Sage is one kind of species and regular Sage, the kind we cook with, is another kind. White sage is again another species, it's botanical name is Salvia apiana, and that is safe to diffuse. Only Sage officinalis can be concerning. Blending Clary Sage with other essential oils in your diffuser is a great idea...I'd try orange, and lavender. Let me know if you have further questions. Thanks for watching and glad you found this valuable!
Could you also clarify Arborvitae - Thuja plicata is the first essential oil you talk about.?
I mentioned Thuja occidentalis - but I wouldn't diffuse any Thuja species. Under any circumstances! Thanks for watching. Both species have been shown to trigger concerning reactions.
What an informative video. Thank you! I have diffused wintergreen alone.😬Thankfully only once. I have diffused oregano alone too. Is it safe if it’s mixed with other oils?
I would avoid wintergeen totally, not even blended into something!! OK? But oregano you could do only 1 drop, but make sure there is also a lot of lavender and maybe a citrus oil..but keep the diffuser on a timer, ok? Thanks for watching
Thank you
Why is sage oil not safe to inhale in a diffuser, but ok to inhale when burning to sage myself & home? Thank you for this information, it is very valuable as I am enrolled in your course.
Sorry it has taken me awhile to answer. Burning Sage is very different, as you are burning the whole plant and the concentration of aromatic molecules is very different...and the sage you burn to purify your space is actually white sage, a different species of sage with a different composition of molecules...hope this helps!
Thank you for this. Is the same true if you apply them with a carrier oil, because you are still breathing it in? For example, I read wintergreen is good for soothing muscles and in warm baths.
Hi Leah - wintergreen is great for soothing muscle pain, but it still requires great caution when using! Since you are in the Aromatherapy in Action Certification Corure, I'd review the chemistry units for more information on this!
@@officialamygalper Better late than never. Still trying to navigate RUclips and finish my training. Thank you for this.
Thanks for the information I do have cinnamon leaf oil so what can I use it for?
I also have peppermint tea tree sweet orange lemon patchouli lavender and chill pill blend oils.
Ah! Cinnamon Leaf to be honest its a tough one! I've used it in salves, but only added 2-drops in my batch, or 1 drop to a 4 oz bug spray. If you really want to diffuse it put only 1 drop in the diffuser but then add at least 8 drops of Lavender, 8 drops of Orange along with it. Are you a DIY-er? I can share some recipes?
@@officialamygalper Hi, Amy! I’m a DIY-er. I have cinnamon leaf, too. Can you share some recipes with me? 🤔
Would the popular thieves oil blend with cinnamon bark be safe to diffuse than?
Yes! It is safe because the cinnamon is blended with other oils.....just make sure to always be in a well ventilated room. and have the diffuser on a timer.
can I put fragrance oils in a diffuser I have a car diffuser and I want to put in it the new car smell fragrance oils ?
sure! but start off with only 1 or 2 drops.
What about Pine needles , cedarwood, Camphor, ylang ylang, patchouli?
Those oils you listed are perfectly safe!
I can’t find the ten essential oils you can use in the diffuser you say are below. Please tell me what they are?
here they are: Thuja (Thuja occidentalis,)
Cinnamon (Bark or Leaf) (Cinnamomum verum)
Oregano (Oreganum vulgare)
Thyme (Thymus vulgare)
Sage (salvia officinalis)
Rue (Rue graveolens)
Wormwood (Artemisia absinthium)
Pennyroyal (mentha pulegum)
Mugwort Artemisia vulgaris)
Wintergreen (Gaultheria procumbens)
Birch (betula lenta)
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Is it safe to breath the micro plastics that diffuse into the air from the vapor of the plastic volcano?
You have a great point. That's why I prefer using a glass diffuser!
Thanks for bringing this up, it took me a minute to figure out what "plastic volcano" is! 🤔LOL That sucks! I've spent soooo much money on these plastic diffusers, now to replace with glass. Bummer.
Is Clary sage the same as Sage?
No Clary Sage is great to diffuse! The botanical name for clary sage is salvia sclarea - the sage I am concerned about is Salvia Officinalis! Thanks for watching
I love Clary Sage I find it super helpful during my monthly cycle!
Thyme? I’ve used thyme ct linalool in a diffuser 😮
Thyme chemotype linalook is OK, but I'd still use only 1-2 drops! And make sure children and pets aren't around
What about ylang ylang ?
ylang ylang is very safe!
Consider the micro plastic vapor diffusing from the plastic volcano. Lung cancer is common in developed world.
you have a great point thanks why I prefer using a glass nebulizer
I love diffusjng Thieves
Just so everyone know, you're not suppose to use ANY essential oils around cats.
i agree with the information, butI find it really offensive when a RUclipsr says “make sure to subscribe” before presenting one particle if useful information.
good point! I'll be sure not to do that next time...
