I updated some of the distortion measurements in my bench test since I posted this supplementary video. I had an improper setting in my test gear that resulted in slightly elevated distortion levels (ie. 96dB vs 101 dB SINAD). Would love to hear you, Gene, and Matt Poes' review of the Bass Management features of the AV10. Specifically, how it would relate to running 4 corner multi-sub. If all 4 subs are working as one, using phase and delay for better room mode response, etc. How would it work to then use this "sub zone" routing? Sounds like it's an "either/or" proposition, not both? It seems there's a lot to cover since this is "new ground" for Bass Management, etc. Which would be 'better'? Can you take advantage of both?

LFE Bass Routing - Have watched a lot of your videos and find the reviews useful. One thing you got incorrect in this one here is the claim that this feature is a first for a Japanese receiver. I would like to point out that the lack of LFE Bass Routing in previous models of Denon/Marantz was precicely the reason I ended up buying the Yamaha RX-A2080 couple years back. In fact I have a Yamaha RX-595a fron 1997 which also is does LFE Bass Routing out of the box. I wanted Marantz/Denon for a change but was shocked to find out what I considered a basic feature. I did call them and inform of this and perhaps it was heard finally. FYI, in Yamaha, all you do for LFE Bass Routing is to setup Subwoofer as NO and Front Left/Right as Large and the receiver will do the right thing and route LFE bass into them. PS. Even Onkyo/Pioneer I believe does the same thing but don't hold me to it as I'm not 100% confident about that. Thanks for the good work.
No Yamaha product to date does LFE routing to un-bass managed channels UNLESS you turn off the subwoofer channel. In that case, it will route LFE to the front main channels. Onkyo/Pioneer is the same. NOBODY has this feature right now other than Denon/Marantz and if you step up to Trinnov or Storm Audio.

Thanks Gene, appreciate your review. My question would be doesn't the AVM 90 have these features as well? Would of swore it has one of the most advanced tinkering utilities.
The on screen menu is exponentially better with Marantz and Denon compared to Anthem. This is a big deal for me and why I’ll be sticking with Marantz. Anthem needs to step up their game in that area.
Thank you for the measurements, but you are the only one very happy with these results (regarding SINAD). I would consider myself happy with values well over 100 dB SINAD, 'clean' THD+N at 4 to 6V output, in full frequency spectrum on both RCA and XLR outputs (XLR outputs which are not in fact true balanced outputs = cheap approach, as you said also). Also...80 dB channel separation? This is an allover cheap, compromise tech solution implementation in AV10, not worthy of a flagship name.
Recheck my measurement report. I had a setting wrong on my AP that reduced SINAD performance. I measured 106dB at 4Vrms and confirmed Marantz measurements. This is a class leading product in terms of features and measurements. Be careful obsessing about an instant gratification # that isn't discernable by the ear. Chasing SINAD is no way to make a purchasing decision.

XLR 3&4 to my 2 subs that have xlr input. And use RCA for subs 3&4 in my setup.
Dont forget you can also reassign all the amps in the denon too. I am using the 2 front amps in my A1H to bi-amp my center channel.
Whatever you choose you will enjoy the flexibility. If you have any questions just reply and good luck.
So would the back subs not play much with the bass re-direction mode on? Seems like it. Doesn’t seem like anyone would want that.
They would only play bass from surround bass managed speakers sides and rears and LFE. You can stillcadjust each sub level independently.
All I want to know is if it is finally worth replacing my 8802A and feeding my 8002, 8008BB & X3's.
Absolutely
Thanks Gene, appreciate your review. My question would be doesn't the AVM 90 have these features as well? Would of swore it has one of the most advanced tinkering utilities.
AVM 90 has lots of advantages but it doesn't have LFE bass distribution or directional bass features.
Can you compare this processor to the Anthem AVM90
Anthem (70 atleast) has an audible fan vibration noise.
HDAM or software bug with the surround channel aberrant rolloff.
Good question.
Gene 12:46 you make the SpongeBob blink sound effect. Thanks
I really hope Denon/Marantz etc. compensate you for all of your ideas that they have incorporated into their products.
Wait: No Component out?? 🤣
Why was I thinking you were going to try to bench press this equipment??
Too easy

The marantz av 10 is superior to the marantz av 8805A in terms of definition, three-dimensional acoustic precision, cinema effect
The AV10 and 8805 have the same main processor though. But other factors might be in play for the overall sound impression.
@@janthomassrensen1065 Has anyone made a comparison?
LOL gene laughing at the SINAD heads. 🎉 Does Amir know how to do a FFT plot???? Bought and paid for by Topping and Everclear.
There is nothing special about SINAD. It's ridiculous to even include it when I show % THD+N but I want to make everyone happy.
10k cdn. Why do I like expensive things ? Lol
Out of my price range lol
