Gene, based on other reviews you did, I completed my system with the AV10/AMP10. With that I have all Bowers and Wilkins: 803 D4s (bi-amped), HTM82 D4 center, DBD3 subs (2), and four other rear / sides (plus an Isotek Evo 3 Sigma). I use an Eversolo DMP A8 for streaming (had it before the Marantz). I could not agree more with what you said. Best audio I’ve ever heard in my life. Friends are blown away by clarity and soundstage. Listening to music literally drift left to right and back again as well as depth and separation is just astounding. Video is flawless. Marantz knocked it out of the park with these. BTW - I used full Dirac Live. Fantastic!!
That is so interesting to hear Malcolm! I'm just getting delivery in a few days of my new Bowers & Wilkings speaker setup, I'm upgrading from 25 years old NHT (they really kicked ass back in the 90s) 2.5i, 1.5i, AC-1 to a new setup with B&W 703S3, 706S3 and HTM71S3. Currently using my old Denon AVR-7200WA in preamp mode with Emotiva XPA7G3 to power my floors + Emotiva BaseX A4 to power my SVS Prime Elevation atmos hights. Next step (next year-ish) will be upgrading the Denon to a proper preamp/processor and the A10 is on my shortlist. Anything you would want to say to encourage or should I be looking at other options? (Anthem AVM70 8K would be the other option given what's available on the market now). I do want to Bi-Amp my fronts as I have 7 amp channels available and only run 5.1.4, also considering adding another SVS subwoofer to run 5.2.4 so the ability to independently calibrate two subs is a plus. How was sub calibration with Audessey XT32 vs Dirac? Cheers from Sweden!

Great video. Thanks! The Anthem AVM 90 was the other processor that I was considering. I've owned Marantz and Anthem in the past, and I've found Marantz to be much more reliable in terms of software, and while I don't generally need a manual, the Marantz manual is very extensive, unlike the Anthem's sparse manual, and the few times I have wondered about some capability, the Marantz manual answered my question. When I had an Anthem, I felt that to get full use out of it, I'd have to spend a lot of time in the Anthem's owner's thread (great group of folks in that thread,'though). So, especially with Dirac support added, I decided to get the Marantz and have been very happy with it.
Thanks Gene! I thinking of purchasing the AV-10 after MWave...I was impressed by your review regarding XLR voltage outputs for each channel... I'm sold!
@@sebastiankorfanty8015 So for me it fits into what I'm trying to accomplish for the price range...15ch + 4ch Sub capability... However, if i find a 24ch Storm at a good price, I'll go that route...The main thing is that I have time... Currently in the process of selling my home to build a new one with a dedicated Theater.
@@sebastiankorfanty80159.4.6, Dirac ART, and Center Spread coming at the lowest price that I know of, or the Denon A1H. There’s not a sound difference besides room correction. I got to blind test these at MWAVE last year and I was able to identify them, but they were so close you wouldn’t notice without on the fly AB switching like we did.
@@andrewskaterrr Do you mean that there was barely a difference switching between Storm running ART and AV10 running DIRAC? And did you mean that ART is confirmed for AV10 and A1H making it the currently cinfirmed cheapest ART options on the market? Finally have you heard on MWave Trinnov and how did it compare - maybe some blind tests as well?
@@michaelslocumbsr.2286 And have you heard Storm on MWave and felt it sounded better and warranted spending a bit more on it when good deal comes about?
I’ve owned an AV10 for about 10 months now. Running a 7.2.4 system with KEF R-series (LR: R11, C: R3, Side and Rear: R7, Height: CI200RR, Subs: SVS PB2000). Not using the Amp16 but Buckeye’s 3-ch Purifi (LCR) and 8-ch Hypex NC252 (surrounds and heights). Just started experimenting with MultEQ-X and I’ve never experienced that movie theater bass before with my previous Audyssey XT32 setups. I’ve got a low pass shelf (~3dB plus a peak in the 40Hz range to get a little extra punch. Plus I limited my correction range to 500Hz. I did add a high pass shelf filter to just get a little more HF extension out of my KEFs where it looked like if was going to correct over the entire range it was going to add a 5-dB boost on some channels. I don’t need flat response to 20kHz. Another thing I like is different speaker presets so I can have different channel mapping for 5.1 music with having different Audyssey MultEQ-X configurations though it was a little buggy getting this to work recently. (The software would occasionally get confused on the channel setup even if I had the correct preset selected). I’ll never need more than the 15.4 channels so I’m happy that the AV10 still allows me to add four more channels but even then I don’t know how I’d fit them in my room.
To be honest, i really prefer the Marantz AV10 because of the flexibility of choosing whichever system that you like to setup and plus the ability to switch to whichever room correction software that you would like if you want to go advanced!!!!
I saved around $3k by taking a chance on the ARCAM AV41. It's not as user friendly as my Marantz AV8805 was, and it doesn't have every single bell and whistle that the Marantz AV10 has. But after a learning curve, I found that the ARCAM really opened up my system vs the 8805, with and without DIRAC! And I have had very few technical issues with the ARCAM AV41. The ARCAM also has up to FIVE independent sub outputs too! I could go on and on about the pros and cons, but what I want to say here is that I think the ARCAM's pros outweigh any of its few cons, and I therefore find myself scratching my head as to why it is never part of the conversation when people mention the Marantz AV10 and the Anthem AVM90 because both of those are over $7000 and the ARCAM is a little over $5k and goes on sale for $4200 with some frequency. I chose to save $2k-$3k for most of the same/better phenomenal sound and features, and I think others might want to do the same. Any plans to review the ARCAM, Audioholics?
Agree completely. I had the Marantz AV8805 and had an opportunity to trial a used ARCAM AV40 in my system. The ARCAM sound is more neutral to my ears. I sold the AV8805! ARCAM is NOT user friendly. It requires some effort and patience. But those who are willing to invest a little time will be rewarded.
I have the AV10 paired with the Denon POA-A1 and the Marantz MM8077. I have 17 speakers and 4 SUBs in 7.4.6 configuration in Atmos and Auro-3D. Since I calibrated the sound with Dirac Live Bass Control, the sound quality is Fantastic.
@@marc2055 7.4.6..... if I understand correctly, the 4 is subs, the 7 is base/ground level speakers, and 6 height channels? If so, 7+6 is 13. How do you have 17 speakers?
@@Artcore103 7 for the base layer + 4 high in each corner (near ceiling) + 1 high center + 1 VOG for Auro 3D + 4 in-ceiling for Atmos. The 2 front high left and right are also used for Atmos. So only 13 speakers are working at a time, depending if I use Atmos or Auro 3D.
Great to hear Gene! I went for a cheaper option, the Denon Flagship A1H because I didn't have the space for extra amps, but it really sounds incredible, with tons of power. I don't think you can go wrong with Denon or Marantz.
Yes your right the best. I have my av10 for more than a year now. I run it with multi amp mcintosh, 2 krell one emotiva and tonewinner. My smaller amp was my mcintosh mc312 300w/ch . For now it was set 7.4.2 . The real issue with the audysey was the base management .I bought the dirac and the result was like night and day. And very soon I will buy the new base management program. I found the audisey sound chock. With dirac the music take live.
Great review as always. I may be able to afford a combo like this after another 10 to 15 years of saving my pennies. I just upgraded to the SR 8015, on closeout, and thought I was doing good. :)
Im still in awe of my last gen Marantz Av 7705 preamp and matching 5 channel amp. Great preamp. Love that it still has the multi channel analog in connection… i still use it for certain blurays
Killer system, Gene! The Marantz AV 10 is a separate unit, but how does it compare to the Denon AVR A1H? Both units support the same features, processing, and DACs, but Denon does it with one box. I opted for the Denon a few months ago, but I am interested in understanding what one might gain from spending more with Marantz. I could easily add a separate amp to the AVR A1H if, for some reason, I need more juice. Is the processing on the AV 10 better?
Albeit the Marantz uses HDAMs. I also wonder if room correction like Dirac or Audyssey allows you to simulate or mirror the sonic characteristics of HDAMS
The key factor is convenience, if you plan on using your AVR/processor for music 2.1 or upmixing you want to buy a better unit. If you are only purchasing a unit for home theater multi channel use, you have your own amp and dac for stereo pleasure, do not buy an over the top unit. Research shows that the subjective difference when watching movies/multi channel lay outs are substantially more difficult to differentiate. Also audio advice is currently having a sale on a lot of the Anthem line until june 30th, if you ever considered it. Prices are really good 20% off
The A1H is very good. My friend has one and I don’t really have any complaints, but having the av10/amp10 you do get better precision, and details imo.
@@JoseGonzalez-zq7bn I am not an expert, but the reality is that I think only the immersion gets better. Those key words you mention are jumping strictly from going from SE to Balanced connection, not the unit itself. Since most AVR's do not have balanced connections for pre out.
I have a 7.3.4 running: Marantz AV7705 Marantz MM8077 Marantz MM7055 I love the new look, but it is hard to imagine it sounding much better for 7K. However, I did buy the M1 for my 2ch living room, and I can say that Marantz nailed Class D!
Gene I just received my new AV10 processor. I have previously owned the AV8802, 8802A, 8805 and 8805A models. In your latest follow up you are absolutely correct regarding the HDMI handshake it's been absolutely flawless. Prior to the AV10 the dual monitor outputs on all previous models simply did not work properly. In regards to sound quality the AV10 is clearly superior sounding to previous models by a wide margin. I have questions regarding the directional base. The owners manual says Audyssey calibration cannot be performed when using directional base. So my question is do you perform Audyssey calibration then change the base calibration from standard to directional. I have one last question if I wanted to use small speakers on all the bed level speakers with a 80hz crossover would directional base be apparent? I like the technology. I have experienced it at several local cinemas but will the directional base feature work with non true full range speakers. Gene I liked many aspects of the previous Marantz processors but the handshake issue with my JVC projector was a big deal to me and Marantz was not helpful. Based on your strong recommendation I gave Marantz one more chance and I'm glad I did. Thanks again for your efforts.
Dear Gene. Thanks for your great videos. This must be the best AV Pre amp and Power amp on the market. I own the older Marantz SR7008, driving the much older B&W 802 Series 2 speakers. The sound quality is amazing. I also use the Marantz UD7007 Universal Player. Are there any firmware updates still available for my Marantz 7008? The newer Marantz Cinema 40, or 30 would probably be a good choice for replacing the older 7008? Regards Johannes Nel from Cape Town South Africa
Have the AV10 and enjoying it. Fun to play with. Only have 14 channels of amplification so need another amp which I'll be adding within the next 5 weeks. Really like the independent 4 channel sub control.
I have the Denon avr-x6700h. Love it. That doesn't mean that I'm not thinking about upgrading. I run 7.2.4 with an Emotiva 3 channel amp for left right center.
Love your reviews Gene. your guns looked like they had pumped a bit of iron😀 I own this AVP and so impressed. Looks like AVP award 2023 should have gone to the AV10.
I'm curious how that Marantz compares sonically to my Anthem MRX 1140, which I ❤. I run my front with Pass Labs XA30.8 and xp-12 preamp. Sopra3 front speakers, Electra 1008be rear, sopra centre, surround and atmos x4 Focal 1000series and x2 Rel 812S (800W) subwoofers. Amazingly precise cinematic experience. Figuratively speaking, I'm blown away every time I watch a movie.
I posted my system a few minutes ago (all Bowers and Wilkins) with some comments. Before I traded up for the Marantz AV10/AMP10 combo, I had the Anthem MRX-1140. Nice unit and musically, very good. Have to be honest, the fan noise bothered me. Hands down, the Marantz combo is better. Clarity is astounding and soundstage is wider and more immersive. Separation is stunning. Don’t get me wrong, the 1140 is a great AV receiver. This is just a whole other level (if you have the right kind of speakers to match what it can do). If you can afford them, don’t hesitate for a second.
Great video as usual Gene. I do drool over the AV10 unfortunately it's quite a bit beyond my wallet and needs. I'm in FL and face the same room layout as you so a 5.2.4 speaker layout is the max I can support, no use for a 15.4 preamp. What I do hope for is a future update of the AV 770x line that includes all the measurable improvements of their latest gear in a processor that better fits my budget and needs. Thanks again, Sal1950 Keep reviewing. ;)
Any gaming lag on HDMI? Anyway all? What stereo only components would it take to top the AV10 for DAC and sheer stereo audio quality as a preamp? That also includes quality bass management?
Whelp, Gene I have to agree. I’ve been having my av10/amp10 about as long as you have. Maybe even a little longer tbh. But nevertheless it’s been an amazing. The sound as you mentioned is crazy good, for both movies and music. I’m using AudioQuest Tornado power cables, and AudioQuest Earth XLR to XLR’s for every channel, and StraightWire Rhapsody for the sb16 ultra. And when I say blow your mind on sound?! Everyone that hears it would think I have 7 bed layers and I only have 5. Atmos with the svs height speakers really puts you in a bubble. I’m also using Paradigm speakers but for my bed layer. I have all Premiers like what you reviewed. 800f/200b/ and 500c. I’m using Dirac and Bass Control and it’s working wonders. I’ve went back and spent hours for really fine tuning and I’m super happy. I haven’t had an issue from either unit. I know you’re not big into bi amping, but I have my front stage bi amped and my measurements look very similar to yours. Wish I could post the picture. Anyhow, Marantz is a great company. And the products are also great. I started with a 8805, with Emotiva amps, then 8805a when it came out. Same amps, now av10/amp10. 😊
Biamping is fine provided you're not just wasting one of the amps on a tweeter with a passive crossover. I would bridge your speakers instead of biamping IF they are passive.
Love my av10 but having nothing but issues. Already been replaced once and now bringing it back to service and I have only owned it since dec. tempted to sell it and move to anthem avm90.
I've had the AV10 for over a year. Best unit I've ever had. I wish they would partner with Roon and become Roon Ready. I use a Cambridge MXN 10 to stream hires from Roon to the AV10. Not a huge fan of Heos even though it's a newer version now. It will stream hires.
I'm still waiting on a bench test of the Marantz Cinema 30! If its processor pre-outs are anywhere near as good as the AV10 then I don't see a reason to go any higher in price in my system.
Awesome review as usual Gene, love this channel! I have a quick question, I have a denon avr-x4300h, I can't seem to find the output sensitivity of its pre outs. I want to add an external amplifier. I just want to make sure it has enough output voltage to get the most out of any amp I'll add.
Of course another reason to upgrade is if I do end up getting 2 or 3 SVS evolution Pinnacles for the front stage, having that lfe steering would be very nice even in my current setup
I've been holding off on upgrading. How would you say the the AV10 compares to a 8802A? I don't like the porthole displays on either of them, as your videos show fingerprints stand out the 10's chassis. But is the AV10's manual better than the 8802's giant 300+ page manual (always a chore to find things in it), how does the AV10 do on legacy formats (I have a large collection of collector edition & Criterion box sets on DVD, BlueRay and even lases disc), and does the 10 sound better playing 2 channel music on CD's & LP's?
@@brianveldboom2269 how low they play and at what SPL level before compression. I wouldn't run a speaker full range unless it has meaningful output down to the 30hz range or if the speaker integrates better with the subs and can handle being run fullrange without woofer distress.
I upgraded from an 8012 to avm 70. I still didn't get rid of the unit, but I am greatly pleased with the AVM 70 and on top of that I think the final deal is the AVM 70 is actually a bit better objectivity wise. It's not make or break, the avm 90 has more features and came 8k ready at the time. The only thing I must say and I think you should be informing your viewers is not to purchase anything crazy for home theater if you do not plan on listening to music on your AVR or processor. If you will only be watching movies the AVR you buy and the measurements will be very minuscule to differentiate. This is proven by Floyd Toole's research and is very accurate even from my personal experience.
It's not my job to tell people not to purchase a higher end product if that's what they want. AVM 70 is a great unit, but if it's a once in a lifetime purchase and you listen to music and have 4 subs, the AVM 90 is worth the upgrade.
@@Audioholics Totally agree, I think it just helps to make people understand that this is an all in one unit. If someone has a killer stereo system that they invested a lot of money into and are very pleased with going with these units would probably be overkill in my personal opinion. I think you get where I am coming from especially when it comes to the money for this system. I love you Gene, youre one of the reasons I got into this hobby. You and your forums taught me and were very helpful. I am just giving my opinion considering that this is an excellent purchase for multiple uses. Otherwise, coming from an objective standpoint and strictly home theater use I just feel it's a bit of an overkill
Clearly, you are an audio expert. Your depth of knowledge is outstanding. i just bought my AV 10 and i can't get the speakers to work. My AV guy is coming over again today to try to see if it's a setting issue, handshake issue, etc. I have my AV 10 connected to 2 Mcintosh 462 and one 7 channel Mcintosh. I have ML esl 15/13 , center channel and six ceiling vanquish speakers. sony 85' tv that's only 4 years old. would you consider a consult call to help me out? I"m frustrated to say the least. i can tell you that i've seen and read all reviews published by you and the av10 seems to be a supreme product but i can't get my speakers to work. the display portal won't highlight the speaker layout when i turn it on and thus i get no sound at all. thank you in advance.
@Rafaelrodriguez-do1bc make sure you're not in pure direct mode, which would turn the display off. If you can't get the OSD working, try the web interface and engage the test tones to check if your speakers are working. Also, check your speaker configuration to make sure you assigned the outputs.
I was able to make all work by : removed the hdmi from the arc / e arc and moved to HDMI 1. I turned off the HDMI control. Why wouldn’t my AV10 recognize my hdmi 3 arc in my 4 year old Sony 85” Bravia. Bravia sync also did not see my Av 10.
Gene, I know Marantz is tight lipped about releasing AV20. However, do you any sense of when or if it might happen? Have you recd any hints of something coming? I need a new processor but AV10 is overkill for my setup.
Hi Gene - since I don't want 15 channels is the Marantz AV7706 the same internally except it doesn't support as many channels? Like if you know you will never need more than 11.2 would the AV7706 be just as good of a unit? Thanks.
7706 isn’t close to the same internals as the AV10. The cinema series is an entirely new platform with access to Dirac if you pay for it. The DACs and processing are better compared to 7706. There are other differences. Do a search and you will see. The 7706 is really old at this point and needs a replacement.
do you think the cinema 30 would run the new svs two top end towers .. i do run all channels in a 7.2.4 system . i would be doing all three up front center and towers , thank you
Good evening Would the av10 be a good match with a couple of yamaha mx-a5200 Looking to upgrade next year but don't want to get rid of my yamaha power amps As yamaha are not coming out with anything soon
Nice review. Has me intrigued now. Room correction to 40hz? Recent yamahas go lower, right? (Edit: I was wrong thanks.) is it pointless to wait for the Yamaha separates?
Great review. I appreciate the mention to how rock solid the processor it. Too many times I hear feedback from others who have so many gremlins, hand shake issues like you shared. You did mention a comparison to Storm and Trinnov, and offered your opinion there is no reason to go with those over the AV10 if you have less than 15 channels. That is quite an endorsement. I've been leaning towards the Trinnov in my room which has 7.4.4. What does Trinnov provide that the Marantz does not?
Trinnov offers digital outputs if you're running active speakers and more advanced bass routing features, which most people don't need. There's no reason to got o a Trinnov if you're running 15ch or less and don't need the other features I mentioned.
Hi Gene. What kind/brand of rack system are you using in the closet and how are these units mounted within it? Do you have any rack preferences? Thanks.
Put the sides between the rows a d wides in front of front row and rears behind 2nd row. You don't really need two sets of sides until you go to three rows (I'm running 11.1.8 with Heights+Tops here plus optional Surround Heights for Auro-3D), but obviously not with the Cinema 10). I've got three rows of seats.
It's cool you can bridge the channels on the Amp 10, and I don't doubt Marantz makes a good-sounding amp.......I just can't get on board with shoving 16 channels of amplification into one box. I currently run two separate amps, each with 5 channels and even that is probably pushing it.
I’m waiting and hoping they replace their cheaper 7 & 8 Series processors. All I would need is 11 channels at most. I’d love the AV10 but it’s more than I need or would want to spend.
Then I’d pair it with a buckeye amp. Apparently great value class D amps. Unless Marantz also releases a cheaper amp with maybe less power & channels to pair with the what ever releases the 7706. Perhaps they can call it AV7 & AMP7 👀
As mentioned before this is the best ive had. One issue i have is when playing other resources running the verizon fios cable box reboots. Haven't been able to figure out where the issue is after much troubleshooting. Cable box has been replaced and hdmi cable is 8k, 4k was tried too. Its not the end of the world but shouldn't be happening.
Can you add a floor plan with your speaker locations. I will be building a Florida open floor plan soon and struggling with putting surrounds on walls high versus in-ceiling speakers.
Yeah, come on Gene! 😜 Funny enough I had gotten the Revel 328bes and then he switched his recommendation to Perlisten S7T right after. Don't worry man. It's all good stuff and he just has to push the new thing.
Hello, I have spent a lot of time in music studios and I am used to the "rme" sound and for my home cinema I have a Denon 8500 and for stereo music I couldn't even match "rme" it is much superior and my question was if there was any home cinema processor that has a quality equal to or greater than "rme" when I put it in stereo
AV10 sure is nice, but I just got an AV7706 about 4 years ago. It's filling my needs pretty well but I'm wondering if it's causing some of my HDMI issues with random lost picture. My current space really can't support more more channels so I think I'm good until I move and get a new theater. Then the question is do I step up to this for 6 Atmos and maybe wides or do I really go ham if I'm doing an upgrade anyway and go up to a Trinov and maybe play with wave forming.
@@Audioholics I know, bit it seems like cool worth it tech, even if I feel kinda bad for the back subs that dont really get to be heard, kinda seems like a waste, but the results are neat, is it worth it....well thats another conversation, probably a better investment then an anamorphic lense..... :P
Originally I was going to add an additional miniDSP Flex to manage the subwoofers but it sounds like the AV10 will eliminate that. I just need to have time at home to work on it so I can see what the AV10 can do. I'm flying back from Japan Thursday but I don't know how much time, if any, I will have before heading off somewhere else.
@@Audioholics I'm not using LFE at all currently, everything just comes from the LCR channels and bass gets distributed with the Flex. The IB woofers in the attic at the front of the room handle 40 Hz down and the OB woofers on each side of the screen handle 40 to 100 Hz. I haven't connected the IB woofers at the back of the room yet. I think I will use two of the AV10's subwoofer outputs for the front and rear IB woofers and keep the OB woofers on the main channels. All three line arrays utilize the OB woofers essentially as part of the array so I don't think I want to change that. I look forward to experimenting with it but apparently I'm only getting a couple days at home after I get back from Japan.
@@Audioholics I must be looking in the wrong place in the menu, I can't find any useful DSP at all on the four woofer outputs. Maybe if you are using Dirac possibly, but I don't see any manual DSP at all. Just independent gain adjust. Is there a place in the menu that I'm missing where I can have high/low shelf, notch, and other filters? Also I did see something about a delay but it wasn't clear what it was delaying. There must be a menu that I'm missing because if not, it doesn't seem to have any DSP capability at all.
@@mfkhometheater7742 You can't access PEQ function without running Audyssey PC first, unfortunately. All you can do in the OSD is delay and level and useless GEQ.
@@Audioholics Yeah that's what I was beginning to realize. I just ordered another miniDSP Flex Balanced, this makes six Flex Balanced crossovers in my system. I think I will design the Atmos speakers to not need any EQ so I don't have to add two additional Flex's. I agree about the bass routing, they definitely appear to have gotten that right. They have done it the way it should be done in all AV processors and receivers.
These units look amazing, but for $7K for the AMP-10 I don't know if it's worth it. You could get like 2 Rotel RMB-1587MKII (7x155W) class A/B for 1000$ more have have way more power than the AMP-10 in a 13 channel setup. What do you think?
Obviously it's not worth it, it's a rip off. It has the name and aesthetic to match the processor, that's it. You could get 2 or 3 Buckeye amps to cover just as many channels with even better measurements and more power, for half the money.
@@AudioholicsI can't post a full comment it seems. I've now tried multiple times, and it just disappeares. Seqrch Google or RUclips for OCA A1 EVO and you will find the RUclips tutorial. It is super simple, and truly awesome.
@@Audioholics I just wrote a long reply, but I lost it. So here's a short version in addition to the link I just managed to post (after many attempts, RUclips seems to have some issues with the comment feature). OCA has provided tons of DSP guides, custom Atmos test tones etc. for use with REW, and now - fully automated scripts that can take an Audyssey measurement file (.ady) from the MultEQ editor app for iOS/Android, extract all the measurements, use REW's API feature to run a fully automated EQ procedure using REW's best tools and techniques and spit out a fully optimized .ady file that you can upload to your AVR/processor. The optimization of timings, speaker levels, crossovers is much more sophisticated that what Audyssey does and the filter creation as well (although the ability to customize things is limited at the moment). The first generation of the script ("Audyssey One") was published a few months ago and works great, and the second generation of the script ("A1 EVO") was launched a few days ago and works great for most, but there are some minor bugs that are still being sorted out. You can find links to the latest version of the scripts in the video comment sections (1.3x for Audyssey One, 1.3 for A1 EVO) and links to the necessary REW versions in the actual script - which by the way is an HTML file than can be run in any web browser. From the link I posted, you can find you way to everything you want to know about OCA, his tutorials and the techniques used.
@@Audioholics Hi! Thanks for the quick reply. And when the room treatment and loudspeakers are done and set and the emotiva amps are already out of warranty? When it only comes to an A/B comparison?
@@cableffm I haven't heard Gen 3 Emotiva amps but prior Gens were good for the money but I always preferred my top tier Denon POA linear AB amp of the time. I'd probably keep what you've got if you're happy and put the upgrade money towards something else like better speakers or more subwoofers.
Gene, I couldn't help but notice that your AC infinity was running around 96-97 degrees. I was under the impression that anything over 85 isn't ideal? If I remember correctly, Audioholics said in an article that something like for every year running a single degree over 85 that your equipment is losing several years of life on it? I'm not sure of the numbers but I've been a bit of a stickler to ensure my equipment is never over 85 because of that article.
My HVAC system in that room broke last week while I shot this video. Normally, my rack is around 80-85 deg. I have a lot of equipment in that rack that really raises the temps, unfortunately.
Does this have the same problem my SR8015 is giving me? If I add FLAC 24 bit 192khz to a USB drive as root files it will show them, but will not play them. I paid for as much from HD Tracks (the speaker set up files) but no matter what I do my SR8015 absolutely refuses to play them. Is there something I'm missing which even Marantz couldn't communicate? It seems to me that perhaps the USB port components in my receiver are the problem. I contacted Safe & Sound where I bought it and they told me to contact Marantz. Marantz gave absolutely no help. No idea where to look next...
Great video! I want AV10 to be my whole whole home amp. Also a recap of your living room system was good with perspective of great Atmos can still be had. I too have the same angled elite paradigms doing 8 ch or 7.2.4 where only LCR are boxed like you! You gotta come over to Brandon Riverview and check out mine, ask Don Dunn what he thought. Gotta do more living room theaters content we are strong audience too!
*Made in Japan* end of story...... Plus it's Marantz. 🎶 🎶 👍 Marantz are putting Class D, right on the map now. With this type of well designed and well engineered gear.
Nice amp, but can I lift it. I like your attitude to class D. I have a D in my general living room. In the movie/ music room are class A/B ,Denon, and NAD.
Hi Mr Gene, im current user of Marantz 7706 and looking for upgrading…. Im in the dilemma either to procced with Marantz AV 10 or JBL SDP 58 ….. there is almost no review for JBL SDP 58 in youtube compare with Marantz AV10… my experience with 7706 was superb with Zero HDMI issue …. Seek your advice tq
How are you getting Atmos through Netflix? I've only gotten it through Amazon Prime, and very limited shows on that. Is my receiver not detecting something correctly?
@robertmedina3195 no clue buddy, but I'm willing to give that a try. I'm not very knowledgeable about this kind of stuff, but it seems like I should have access to more Atmos content with my set-up. Thanks for the advice.
Can you please send me a feed back if there's still limited on the sub frequency because I do like 63 hz and bring the db at least to 6db for more punch.
@Audioholics because usually 63 hz always giving me a good response by adding more punch through it with plus 6 dB or 8 my limits. Seems like more natural to me. Thank you sir for your response. Have a blessed 🙌 day.
I have the HDCP issue with my Yamaha when I use the Apple TV it only pops up in the blue but the rest of my devices are fine it only happens with my Apple TV which I wish there was a way to stop it. It's not to annoying though
Marantz makes great equipment. No doubt about it, but there's no way I would have a Marantz processor over an Anthem. Especially since they're around the same price.
@bilguana11 better chip level but that often doesn't translate to better performance if other areas are compromised. The AV10 produced the best bench test results we've seen to date in AV Processors regardless of price or DACs.
@bilguana11 They've beaten all the other AVPs on bench testing, what else did you want them to do?? It's a bit like asking an Olympic 100m sprinter who has just set a new world record...."couldn't you have run just a little bit faster?"😂😂
another banger! might as well call you DJ Khaled at this point! the best point to take away: marry a cool woman!!! all the rest falls into place nicely
I don’t have the heart to tell him, but his whole family is imaginary. His system is so good, that he imagines a whole household of audio hallucinations.
Does anyone know anything about Sonance amplifiers? I found the Sonance DSP 8-130 MKII open box at Best Buy for about $1,900. I currently have a Denon 4700H for my home theater receiver but need something to help push my Definitive Technology speakers as well as my Klipsch in ceiling speakers. Any advice would be helpful.
@saint6563 Agreed Anthem AVM90 emperor has no cloths. They use 2 x ESS DACs (slightly better part id) than the use in the AV10 which uses 8 x ESS stereo DACs. And don't get me started on ARC Genesis. This thing does more sound formats. Pop the top and look the internals people it looks like a top of the line 2 x channel audiophile system with a toridial transformer. Serious BS about this Anthem nonsense. Just get multiple multichannel amps like a Emotiva Reference Differential 3 channel for up front and a NAD for the other 6 + 6 speakers.

I'm sold!
Why are you wanting it vs other products on the market? What was it so good about it vs other units? Or is it just right for you price wise?
@@sebastiankorfanty8015 So for me it fits into what I'm trying to accomplish for the price range...15ch + 4ch Sub capability... However, if i find a 24ch Storm at a good price, I'll go that route...The main thing is that I have time... Currently in the process of selling my home to build a new one with a dedicated Theater.

I’ll never need more than the 15.4 channels so I’m happy that the AV10 still allows me to add four more channels but even then I don’t know how
I’d fit them in my room.
I have the r11 metas too. I’m thinking of getting the av10 to replace my Onkyo rz900 avr and parasound p5. I have a parasound A21+ amp.
I added my bass shelf to 5db for those speakers and subs that had head room. Makes a huge depth difference.
Love your setup!
Curious, did Dirsc set your delays correctly? I had issues when I tested it last year but there has been firmware updates since.
@@Audioholics The only problem I had was with the lip-sync, which I attenuated in the settings of the Oppo 203 player. I don't know if it's related.
Love my AV10. Can't wait for your DLBC review.
Me too! I think he’s going to really enjoy it.
Love the Marantz Av10 I wish they would drop the price to 5k . Great review!
Great review as always. I may be able to afford a combo like this after another 10 to 15 years of saving my pennies. I just upgraded to the SR 8015, on closeout, and thought I was doing good. :)
SR8015 is a phenomenal receiver. Be proud and enjoy.
Separate power supplies is a big difference bw the two.
I have a 7.3.4 running:
Marantz AV7705
Marantz MM8077
Marantz MM7055
I love the new look, but it is hard to imagine it sounding much better for 7K.
Love your reviews Gene. your guns looked like they had pumped a bit of iron😀
I own this AVP and so impressed.
Looks like AVP award 2023 should have gone to the AV10.
Both great products tbh. The AV10 is just a beast.
Thanks again, Sal1950
Keep reviewing.
your power cables are irrelevant.
Biamping is fine provided you're not just wasting one of the amps on a tweeter with a passive crossover. I would bridge your speakers instead of biamping IF they are passive.
@@Audioholics I might be doing so tbh, I’ll bridge and give it a try.
@@Artcore103 thanks 😊
Love my av10 but having nothing but issues. Already been replaced once and now bringing it back to service and I have only owned it since dec. tempted to sell it and move to anthem avm90.
Hi Gene. I was wondering if it would be a good idea to add the amp10 to my Denon AVR A1H?
@Audioholics - Gene, any news when or if Dirac ART is coming to the AV10?
I'll never have the budget for separates.
I am more than happy with my SR-8015 but would consider trading it for a Cinema 30.
Hi Audioholics, Hi Gene,
What is the defenition of a bass capable speaker?
What specs make a speaker bass capable? 18 Hz? Lower?
@@brianveldboom2269 how low they play and at what SPL level before compression. I wouldn't run a speaker full range unless it has meaningful output down to the 30hz range or if the speaker integrates better with the subs and can handle being run fullrange without woofer distress.
Thanks for the blue light change tip,, i never knew it could do that Gene :D
you can do it on the amp10 too
I’m more of a Denon A1H man myself 😊. There is something so elegant about a one box solution ❤
💯 agreed. Great choice!
Nope, I have no news on if that is true or not. I will inquire.
@@Audioholics I get the impression many are waiting for it. Decent amt of interest on AVS for 7706 replacement. Thanks for checking. 👍🏻
hi Gene, what about Dirac Art?
Hi Gene - since I don't want 15 channels is the Marantz AV7706 the same internally except it doesn't support as many channels? Like if you know you will never need more than 11.2 would the AV7706 be just as good of a unit? Thanks.
7706 isn’t close to the same internals as the AV10. The cinema series is an entirely new platform with access to Dirac if you pay for it. The DACs and processing are better compared to 7706. There are other differences. Do a search and you will see. The 7706 is really old at this point and needs a replacement.
do you think the cinema 30 would run the new svs two top end towers .. i do run all channels in a 7.2.4 system . i would be doing all three up front center and towers , thank you
Would Parasound Halo A51 and A21 amp be better than the Marantz Amp?
Had to ask, for 15ch and only for Movies, This vs Storm ? Sound Quality ( I know its hard but what would you say ? )
@TechinaSec101 the Amp 10 is a much better value than the Storm. I own and love both tho.
Good evening
Would the av10 be a good match with a couple of yamaha mx-a5200
Looking to upgrade next year but don't want to get rid of my yamaha power amps
As yamaha are not coming out with anything soon
Nice review. Has me intrigued now.
Room correction to 40hz? Recent yamahas go lower, right? (Edit: I was wrong thanks.)
is it pointless to wait for the Yamaha separates?
Why 40Hz? Dirac and Audyssey both correct down to 20Hz and anything below that typically doesn't need EQ due to the large wavelength.
Trinnov has the cool object viewer graphic that shows sound playing, but no thanks for 3x the cost.
Hi Gene. What kind/brand of rack system are you using in the closet and how are these units mounted within it? Do you have any rack preferences? Thanks.
With the AV10 is there a way to run 2 sets of side surrounds for 2 rows in a theater?
Put the sides between the rows a d wides in front of front row and rears behind 2nd row. You don't really need two sets of sides until you go to three rows (I'm running 11.1.8 with Heights+Tops here plus optional Surround Heights for Auro-3D), but obviously not with the Cinema 10). I've got three rows of seats.
Gene have you experienced any of the loud fan noise concerns expressed by other users.
Has Marantz found a fix for it?
It's cool you can bridge the channels on the Amp 10, and I don't doubt Marantz makes a good-sounding amp.......I just can't get on board with shoving 16 channels of amplification into one box. I currently run two separate amps, each with 5 channels and even that is probably pushing it.
Gene, in your opinion, would the amp (only) be a good addition to the SR-8015 to power some RF-7IIIs?
I would say no and I think he would to. Your speakers are highly efficient and the 8015 can easily power a klipsch setup.
How would this handle 2 channel music? Is it better than a parasound p6 preamp?
I will be building a Florida open floor plan soon and struggling with putting surrounds on walls high versus in-ceiling speakers.
i was thinking about getting an anthem avm-90 with sim moon amps , but i guess both are awesome and theres no wrong choice 😃
Is that Commodore 64 I saw under the center speaker?
How does it stack up against the anthem avm90?? 🤔
Stop it Gene! I just bought an A1H with Monoprice Monolith 7x200, now you are telling me I should’ve gotten this!
Yeah, come on Gene! 😜
Funny enough I had gotten the Revel 328bes and then he switched his recommendation to Perlisten S7T right after. Don't worry man. It's all good stuff and he just has to push the new thing.
Denon A1H us the best AVR on the planet. No need to move up to the AV 10 since it shares most of its DNA.
@@BobFrostV I still have my Revel F328be in a guest room.
Waveforming requires a lot of subs and strategically placed front back of room.
There is absolutely no reason to add mDSP to the AV 10. The unit has all the correction you could possibly use built in.
Do you have to match a pre amp processor with a power amplifier of the same brand
These units look amazing, but for $7K for the AMP-10 I don't know if it's worth it. You could get like 2 Rotel RMB-1587MKII (7x155W) class A/B for 1000$ more have have way more power than the AMP-10 in a 13 channel setup. What do you think?
Think that's a great idea 💡
2 amplifiers for mains & sats
2 or 6 channel options 😊
Obviously it's not worth it, it's a rip off. It has the name and aesthetic to match the processor, that's it. You could get 2 or 3 Buckeye amps to cover just as many channels with even better measurements and more power, for half the money.
Torn between AV10 and Anthem AVM 90

Easy - AVM90
My av 10 has a non working mid left top output (9.4.6) its back for service.
Does the AV10 allow you to reassign unused channels to a separate Zone for example?
Regarding room correction. If you haven't tried OCA's Audyssey One or EVO script, you're missing out.
Link?
Btw I spent hours after auto calibration and manually tweaked based on REW measurements. That's the beauty of the PC software.
@@AudioholicsI can't post a full comment it seems. I've now tried multiple times, and it just disappeares. Seqrch Google or RUclips for OCA A1 EVO and you will find the RUclips tutorial. It is super simple, and truly awesome.
Link to A1 EVO: ruclips.net/video/lmZ5yV1-wMI/видео.htmlsi=aegDrlhBgntzMKSq
Can I bridge all channels of the amp 10 and use 2 of them on a 9.4.4 system?!?
Is it worth upgrading from 2 emotiva xpa gen3 to the amp 10?
@cableffm as long as your Emotiva amps are still under warranty, you should probably put your budget towards room acoustics first.
@@Audioholics that'll do it. Thanks Gene!
Gotta do more living room theaters content we are strong audience too!
wow, thanks for this fenomenal review and that you go so deep for people that youse these also as msuic machine😍😄😄
*Made in Japan* end of story...... Plus it's Marantz. 🎶 🎶 👍
Marantz are putting Class D, right on the map now.
With this type of well designed and well engineered gear.
Love my Av10. Using Audyssey with app. I have two Arendal 1723 V1 subs with 7 PEQs each and all is very good.
Nice amp, but can I lift it.
I like your attitude to class D. I have a D in my general living room.
In the movie/ music room are class A/B ,Denon, and NAD.
Yes it weighs under 45lbs if memory serves.
Beautiful system. It’s to bad I can’t afford Marantz’s products anymore. $15K for these two.
Cinema 30 is more affordable and has a good amp section built in.
Should I sell mine and get these?
Only if you need the expanded features and aren't happy with your current gear.
AV 10 needs some amp ? Or can i Run it alone Like my Cinema 50?
Pay attention!😂
How are you getting Atmos through Netflix? I've only gotten it through Amazon Prime, and very limited shows on that. Is my receiver not detecting something correctly?
What streaming device are you using?
@robertmedina3195 my sound is run through a Denon AVR-6500H, and everything I stream comes via a 75" Samsung 4k UHD and the apps that are on it.
Bass management is adjustable from 40hz to 250hz.
Jealous of that wall treatment.
Who is the manufacturer?
Doubt it defuses bass.
Still interested, thanks.
Custom is done, and it doesn't help w bass but does help acoustically at higher frequencies.
Beautiful!!!

Marantz makes great equipment. No doubt about it, but there's no way I would have a Marantz processor over an Anthem. Especially since they're around the same price.
personal preference as I have both and love them equally for different reasons.
@@Audioholics And hhow about AV10 / AVM90 vs Storm which you also have / had?
Why did Marantz use inferior DAC chips when there are better ones available?
How is the ESS dac inferior? You did see the SOTA measurements in my report, yes?
@@Audioholics There are better ESS DACs.
@bilguana11 better chip level but that often doesn't translate to better performance if other areas are compromised. The AV10 produced the best bench test results we've seen to date in AV Processors regardless of price or DACs.
@@Audioholics Of course, but couldn't they have done better.
@bilguana11 They've beaten all the other AVPs on bench testing, what else did you want them to do??
It's a bit like asking an Olympic 100m sprinter who has just set a new world record...."couldn't you have run just a little bit faster?"😂😂

No way!
Anthem AVM 90 and MCA's are better than Marantz
I was debating between the AV10 and AVM90, but decided to go with the Anthem. I have no regrets but would love to see a true side by side.
Prove it with measurements & features.
@@chebrubin No way! Emotiva is worse garbage than Marantz.
