- We all know shame is far from funny, but what if making friends with your shame was the key to creating world-changing comedy? In this vulnerable authentic talk, UK born comedy therapist and creator of Hilarapy, Lizzie Allan shares how a combination of therapy, comedy and community can transform our darkest lived experiences into comedy that helps us embrace our humanity.
Lizzie is the founder of Hilarapy, a unique pathway to healing from trauma and loss using comedy therapy and community. Her limitless passion and uncanny vision to re-imagine a healthy, comedy eco-system has led her to work with people from all walks of life from all over the world. Great talk, thank you, and I recognise that sense of euphoria from my own experience of being sectioned with bipolar. Although in my case I thought I was John the Baptist! It took me about 15 years and Stephen Fry's "coming out as bipolar" before I was able to go public myself.
