- A paratha is a flatbread that originated in the Indian Subcontinent. Everyones favourite here ...people call it with different names in different regions .parantha, forota (in Sylheti), parauntha, prontha, parontay, porota (in Bengali), palata (pronounced: [pəlàtà]; in Burma), and farata
INGREDIENTS:
All-purpose flour 3 cups
salt 2 teaspoon
egg one
water (at room temprature ) to make the dough
ghee (clearified butter)
all-purpose flour to use for layering.
method:
1. Roughly mix all-purpose flour and salt
2. Add egg and water in this flour and salt mixture and make a dough..consistency of the dough should be just like pizza dough ..not too soft or not too hard ..
3.let the dough rest for atleast 30 minutes into the refrigerator.
Note .this recipe will make four parathas.so devide the dough in four parts.
4.make dough balls for paratha as shown in the video using ghee(clearified butter) and all-purpose flour it will give beautifull soft layers to the paratha...
Note:we used ghee(clearified butter) in layering you can also use vegitable oil or margerine if you don,t like to use ghee(clearified butter).
5: For best results Refrigerate these doughballs for atleast 15 minutes
. Rolling refregerated dough balls will be easier for you as well.
6: Roll these dough balls to about 6-7 inches in diameter.
7: steak them applying ghee or oil on both sides as shown in the video, keep the heat medium.
Voila ..parathas are ready with crispy layers outside and soft layers inside
serve hot. With spicy mince , tikka seekh kebab , chicken tandoori or simply with omelett .

this is awesome, I have always wanted to know how to make paratha, now that I know I only eat paratha, I wear clothes made of paratha and sleep on a mattress of paratha with paratha for pillows. I have fallen in love with and will soon marry one of my parathas and when we go on romantic dinners we order paratha. for our wedding feast it will be paratha and our first childs name will be paratha
Will you eat your spouse?

Tried following a Chinese RUclips attracted by the title SIMPLE MORE HEALTHY... but took me 50 minutes to work out a right flour:water ratio with little bit salt (no egg).. as the oil spread was using cooking oil after the spreaded round flat dough... no standing.... already very happy I can make it... yetit 's not so fragrance .... thinking ways to improve this morning then I found this RUclips, fantastic....I'll try
I made this using wheat flour and no egg and followed the first way of making the paratha, followed rest of the recipe exactly the same and it came out superb!! Alhumdulillah...
PS: if your family takes less salt, like mine, in their food then 2 teaspoon of salt might be too much. So just stick to one or maybe even no salt and it will still taste great 👍🏻
no egg, no salt... meaning you only use wheat flour and water? wheeew...
Tnx
Assalamu'alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh
I gained weight just by watching this video,...., but I'm afraid I can't resist on trying making them 🥰
Why all are scared of fatty food...
Why don't you do exercise after food....
Exercise can help you in enjoying all types of food.....
Wewwe
Fat doesn't make you fat, it's the carbs or sugar. It is a lie told to to us that eating butter, meat fats, cheese makes us fat, nope! If you do regular light workout eat less carbs and sugar, you will not get fat
😂😂😂😂
Very nice comment indeed
I used to choose Asian restaurants based solely on their parathas, very few took the time to make them like shown here. Flaky, soft and just the best curry accompaniment. Thanks for recipe.
I like it
Same...I live in Australia now and the quality and the quantity of Naan/Roti is very important to me. If that's a bust, I usually don't order again even if curries are good.
The addition of chopped butter on the cooked paratha....good god...that is just mental. All these methods are just superb....totally awesome video. Applause from me....I have to make this!!!
Looks absolutely amazing. Very few people know how to make paratha properly. These versions are very good, it's like an art. You can put less ghee. I'm sure it will taste great. Butter or ghee are not as bad for you as people make out, just have to be in moderation. I visited a friend's restaurant about 40 years ago and as it was early in the day, the chef made a paratha for me. It was the best paratha I've ever eaten and remember it to this day. That chef was from Bangladesh, he was a magician the way he made it.
people from Bangladesh and Pakistan make better Paratha than most others, saying by experience
Guys if you want perfectly layered paratha try the second method.
Thanks 😊
I'm gonna try all three of em. I got these by mistake when ordering through Instacart. I tried these with eggs and am totally addicted and problem is it is impossible to get them made at certain seasons. I am referring to those with onions, and apparently, they're seasonally prepared. I think they're a lot cheaper to order rather than making. Butter isn't cheap at all.
Agreed.
The 2nd version is the one my wife taught me. It's perfect!
I did think that one looked easiest as well!
This is amazing! I'm obsessed with parathas and now I can finally make them myself! They're so expensive here in Barcelona cause they import them from the UK :(
ruclips.net/video/OEwEYYZAqJs/видео.html
You're better off making them yourself.. I wouldn't trust packaged ones.

Here too. In 2010, we bought two for £0.99 but now each £0.99 for good brands like Niru
@@yummyyyy8787 we don't like ghee. What about oil?
Pure ghee is very good for your immune system.
I once met a 80 plus year old lady, looking for ghee at the supermarket. Her secret of staying so fit was, she only uses ghee! I was impressed!
Love the wordless tranquility of this video!
Nice comment
Let’s see, butter between the layers, then cooked in butter, then served with butter. Hell Yass!!!
Lol, I agree 😉

I am just moved by the professionalism you have in your recipes, I admire it..
I prepared with out egg & it's turned out very nicely I got lot of appreciation from my family

This comment is helpful, thank you.
Without adding egg does the dough get this much elasticity, I really doubt.!! I'm kneading dough everyday but it never comes out like this.
That looked so good and mouth watering yum... I will be looking out for new videos
This recipe looks delicious👌👌 and so tampting, nicely❤️ prepared & well presented thoroughly enjoyed❤️ the whole process and absolutely love the end result, looks absolutely perfect & tasty👌👌, Big thanks for share.👍👍
I was NOT expecting this recipe to work for me bc I fuck up everything, but omg, it was great! A bit of work, because I don't have a rolling pin or anything, but I used a glass jar and my hands, and it worked okay.
Which way did you form them? 1, 2 or 3?
No shame in using a glass for rolling pin. Done that many a time.
A glass bottle filled with cold water is great for rolling pastry, keeps it cool.
You could never go wrong with parantha. Whereas with Roti we have to be extra extra careful.
A wine bottle works well too...☺️
Kalli fbfbf
Thanks soo much for teaching us every day I was buying paratah for one real but now I will make my self God bless you

This is so satisfying and clean.... Need to try asap... Tired of same regular roti everyday

Which method was best?
How much water was used?
The last time I saw this much butter I was in king harlaus' court
First 🙌 Place. 👍. With. Egg&Ghee. Combo.
It's so amazing to see how different cultures make their Roti.We make it a bit different in Trinidad🇹🇹 but this looks great, well done👏🏼
This is not roti
It’s a paratha, not roti. Roties are simpler and fried without oil or ghee. When I visited India, there were so many variations across the country, and all of them just as nice.
Trini to de bone! 😅
Well it is made by Trinidad Indians so something is lost in translation. But the original comes from India.
@@squange20I agree Roti is different but In West Indies, they call paratha, Roti. To mean the same thing.
This is not a Paratha, this is work of art :)
I had made these on this Eid through ur method....guess what!!appreciation appreciation n appreciation😊thank you
It is a good platform for learners and beginners to learn how to make delicious parathas, after watching feeling tempted to eat
My mom was married to a Pakistani guy and she would make this over all we had great food and I had a good childhood
I'm making the paratha bread tomorrow.that looks so good and beautiful
I made it today. OMG it was so good. I never made paratha before. I've always been intimidated thinking it would be to difficult to pull off and my grandma guards her recipe fiercely. However this paratha came out better than any paratha my grandma has ever made. I'm floating on a cloud of smug satisfaction right now tbh
@dinasha S Your grandmother probably didn’t have so much ghee. I make tomorrow (hopefully)
I'm a Peruvian living in Montreal, Canada and thanks to this multicultural country I got to try Paratha and I loooove it! And now I get to make my own. Thank you for sharing this recipe!!! 😊

Cook: Yes!
Yummyyy y
You can cooked but less butter
Butter is good for you. The only unhealthy ingredient in this recipe is flour.

Butter is actually good for health! U should avoid sugar and carbs instead
Butter is at least better than hydrogenated vegetable oils we consider 'healthy'.
Love the layers.

I tried it more than a month ago, and turned out perfect.. Everyone loved it.. Thankyou so much for sharing
What kind of cup do you use? Cup for tea n coffee? And how much for water? 🙄
@@maxcryst6565 theres a difference between a cup and a mug.. Cups are small anf mugs are big.. Everytime you make a dough you should add water little by little and keep mixing untill you get a perfect dough. If you feel its dry keep adding water. If you feel its getting really sticky means you have added a lot of water and you need to add dry ingredients (flour)
which method did u try? wonder what method would give the best layers
