  • First, the Engine light came on and I thought it was something simple like the gas cap or the fact that it was a little over the due time for oil change. Those 2 did not fix it. I put the scanner to it and up came the code. I was pretty sure it was the sensor, the mechanical part of it, but decided I wanted to check/clean the runners. I'm glad I did. Even though the runners were fine, I was able to clean all the internal components, including the throttle body, and it actually seems to have improved the MPG. Also, the sensor's mechanical component did seem to work again after cleaning it with WD40. So, this project didn't cost me a dime, other than 4-5hrs on the driveway. It was a tedious job, but doable. Just take your time. It does require a little bit of no-how, so be careful. Please ask any questions; I'll try to help. Good luck!

      Glad to hear it! Yes there is a good chance the sensor could still be good, just drop some WD40 on the tip of the mechanical component of the sensor and giggle it slowly until it feels it has free movement and finish off by blowing it and cleaning it. Hope yours works like mine!

    first off thank you so much for posting this video. this should save me lots of time and money, hopefully. First I'm going to check the sensor. I moved from Kentucky to Florida pulling a trailer. Going up hell through Tennessee it really wanted to slow down but that's normal. 5 speed stick. It seems now without the trailer it some what does not want to go faster than 55 or 60 even if I push it to the floor. I don't think it's the transmission. It didn't start doing this until I almost ran it totally out of gas the other day. I'm guessing that's the issue which is also making the engine react the way it does. Haven't had any other problems with it other than that and my abs and ESP light won't go off. I did a brake job all the way around it went out for a minute but the ESP light keeps coming back on. I'm guessing maybe that's just a sensor in the rotor or drum but it's not enough to make me buy another one. Again thanks for the video I really appreciate it. and I'm not sure if you're aware if you have a very Rusty crossmember on the bottom or not but until I think November or December Jeep is offering a warranty at the dealership. You may have to call the headquarters in Detroit get them to write a warranty letter they will replace the whole crossmember and everything they break while trying to install a new one. Save me a ton of money on my 2008 Jeep Patriot. thanks man.

      Hey Red, for some reason I missed your post from 2 years ago. Thanks for watching my video and hope it helped at the time. I wanted to ask, what has happened since then with your Jeep? What's ironic is that all those symptoms you are describing, we have been experiencing as well with our Jeep. I have all those lights coming on as well. We have not had the code come on since I replaced the entire intake manifold assembly with the actuator. In my research, I have found out that the CVT transmission is a huge fale, and responsible for the power loss. Car can't handle small hills anymore and we've had the transmission overheating sensor come on with hill climbs. The engine seems to be doing good a over 170k+ miles, but Trans is a fail. I'm contemplating getting a junk yard Trans just to buy another 100k miles off of this car, if we can. So, what have you done?

    Good video Jorge! Thanks for doing it. I currently have this code on my '09 Ford Fusion. I'd like to offer a caution regarding using WD40 and other similar products in this instance and other similar applications. These products are good for freeing up stuck mechanisms, like you did, but they're not intended to be left on those moving mechanisms because they are not intended to be a long term lubricant. If left on the mechanism or not followed with a lubricant, these products will attract dust & dirt, dry out, and can cause the mechanism to get stuck again.

    • @JorgeInTheTube
      @JorgeInTheTube  7 лет назад

      You are right, Rau. I should know better. I was in a hurry. I should have used a dry lubricant, or something that would avoid attracting dirt. I hope others read this post so they won't make the same mistake. What would you recommend in this or similar applications? And thank you for viewing my post! :-)

    • @mrau92me

      It'll probably be fine but if happens again I suggest to clean then apply perhaps a graphite powder or silicone based lube.

    • @JorgeInTheTube
      @JorgeInTheTube  7 лет назад

      There u go, I did think about graphite after reading your first post. So that and silicone lube then. I'll put it on my shopping list. I need to go to autozone to pick up some stuff for other car today, so that works. Thanks again for tips!

      @JorgeInTheTube  7 лет назад

      Argenis Torres Thanks for the compliment, sorry it didn't resolve your issue. my advice would be to get a scan tool/ code reader, in case you don't already have one, to find the code and issue causing your check engine light. Let me know if you have other questions?

      Aaron B Thank you for viewing my video and for kind comment. Oil inside the intake manifold. To be honest, not sure, yet sounds there's a leak somewhere. Can't be the valves, that would lead to smoke, I would think... I'll try to ask around. If u find out, please share. 😊

    I'm going to save you all a whole lot of ass ache. I have a 09 compass that had the check engine light from hell, I tried all the fixes that youtube people had to offer and nothing worked, didn't even come close to working. I was at my local heep dealer to buy a gas cap for the heep for another problem it has, I asked the parts guy if he knew what they do for that code (P2004) he straight out told me without hesitation that they replace the intake manifold. To make a long story short, I had it replaced and the code went away.
    After inspecting the old intake you could see where the gasket had gone bad and it was bleeding between intake runners. My guess is the intake warps a little after years of being hot and cold after all it is only plastic and plastic warps. A new intake will run you about $400.00 buck plus installation unless you can do it yourself. You could try a sanding the intake flat again on a large flat surface and installing a new gasket, if that doesn't work you are only out a little time and 10 bucks or so for a gasket, then go buy the intake.
    Thats my personal experience yours could be different, but i had good results.

      Steven Spaziani any update on your intake

    • @stevenspaziani9159
      @stevenspaziani9159 5 лет назад +1

      Had the intake changed and code p2004 went away. I changed the solenoid and it was a waste of time and money, my intake runner butterflies functioned perfectly, the intake basically goes bad at the gasket seal and bleeds between intake runners. If I were you before I spent the money on the intake runner solenoid I would at least try a gasket first it could potentially save you hundreds, if that does not work you are only out the price of the gasket and a little time if doing it yourself. There is a guy with a video on how to check the wiring to you're intake solenoid, you may want to try and find that and do the tests first before you order an intake, but plz trust me on this, I have done all the youtube BS to try and resolve the "number one intake runner code p2004" and absolutely nothing worked, I had the intake changed and the problem went away. Also, check and clean all your ground connections, on my compass quite a few of those were half rotted through but I live in new york the road salt capital of the world. good luck.

      Oh, have you disconnected your battery? negative terminal, at least? or, did you clear the code from memory with your code reader? Hope that's all that has to be done now. Or, did u make sure runners were moving accordingly, before installing sensor?

  • @miltonlanton6693
    @miltonlanton6693 4 года назад +1

    It's not a sensor, the part you are holding is a actuator. It's controls the runner's. The other part you pointed out are fuel injectors.

      Rod J Hey, good question, I must have forgotten to say it on video, surprised no one else has asked. I used carburator cleaner on the intake manifold to clean it. for the sensor, I did use WD40. since I posted this video, the sensor has actually failed again. At least, it bought us like 9-10 additional months. I will post a few updates soon. Hope it helps.

    • @JorgeInTheTube
      @JorgeInTheTube  8 лет назад +1

      Pretty much. the intake runners were fine. the actual electrical/mechanical component was stuck and it actually began to work after I put a little WD40 on it and used plyers to move it back and forth repetitively. So mime did, but can't guarantee others will, although It's still working today!

    Bro, My car is chevrolet lumina. The error code is showing P2008. Still i coudnt find which part do i have to change. While in traffic the car is very hard to move , while running it is ok. The problem starts when car running after 2 km and also zzz sound coming from near the engine side. Please if u can help me✌️.

    • @JorgeInTheTube
      @JorgeInTheTube  5 лет назад +1

      Hi Chand, so it appears that the code i got and the code you got are the nearly same thing. So here's the scoop. The 1st attempt of cleaning the sensor with WD40 helped, but lasted for about 9 months. The 2nd time the code came up, sensor cleaning didn't help, i had to change the "entire" intake manifold. Turns out the runners, that's the little levers inside the intake manifold, do go bad and even the slightest friction throws off the code. After replacing the intake manifold, almost a year ago now, the car is back to running well and no codes. I meant to load a new video, yet just life got crazy and totally forgot. So, if your car is close to 100K+ miles, just expect its the intake. Hope this helps. Good luck!! Thank you for viewing my video and if you can please hit the like!! 😁

      Shannon Stiles actually tried it, both the one you add to the gas tank plus the one you spray directly through the air intake/throttle body. Light is still on...
      So I have no choice but to remove it, yet again, and do a more detail cleaning with a stronger solvent that can break the carbon deposit... Might post another video of some other steps I took, but failed as well... thanks for sharing, tho.
