2008 Jeep Patriot Wheel Bearing/Hub Replacement
Hello all, so while test-driving the car for yet ANOTHER problem I was working on, I hear the grinding noise. I knew pretty much what it was sine I've experienced it in another vehicle. Anyway, it is rather easy to do, just have to have the right tools and a bit of muscle. As always, practice safety when working on an elevated vehicle. Feel free to ask any questions down below. Disclosure, remember I'm not a professional mechanic; simply putting videos to help others that may at a skill level as myself and wish to take on the task. Hi Robert, yes I was hopeful but replacing the intake manifold was inevitable. I was able to buy time at one point, but had to do it too. It's a chore and knuckle grinder but it can be done to save mechanic's labor cost. Put some music on and have fun!

@@roberttemple4129 Sounds like you went through exactly what I went through when that problem came up. The good news is that the car's performance and reliability improved and the codes went away after installing the intake manifold. So you will be happy when it is all over.

Thanks for viewing and commenting on my video, that's strange. Sorry to hear that. Do you hear it click when you press the lock-unlock buttons? Are the rest of the doors locking-unlocking? Could it be a mechanical linkage problem from the electronic box you replaced towards the liftgate lock? Hope it's something you figure out. Good luck
@@JorgeInTheTube thanks for replying. I ended up needing to replace the locking mechanism of it. It became faulty. So it's fixed ..... For now. Lol. Let's hope it stays fixed for another 8 years.

My 2008 2.4L 5sp manual Pat has been giving me P2010 and P0032. Manifold Runner issues. Garage is going to change the sensor. He said something like cleaning and gasket as well. My Pat has 225000km/138K miles on her. My engine periodically races/revs while on the road. It just started late this fall. Thanks for your explanation and experience..
Glad it was helpful. For what it's worth, you were one of the lucky ones having the manifold last over 200k. I bet is due to excellent operating behavior, unlike the race car driver owner of this vehicle...

Hello, i have that lift gate problem also. The white piece that is supposed to turn does not, even after wd40. How do i get it to open now?
Hi Mary, to answer your question, in a nutshell, It could be the actuator is damaged internally. If not, itsthe mechanical linkage behind actuator that physically unlocks the liftgate. You may have to remove the actuator and test each part separately. Good luck, hope you're able to figure it out!
What are the symptoms of the code
Check engine light, rough idle, occasional hesitation under acceleration. If the rpm surges when you first start it, that's the gasket.
we have a 2012 patriot and the little white piece was broken and will not turn at all to get it to manually unlock,....any suggestions? I know you answering is a long shot since the video or responses have been a while
Hi Cassie, it sounds like you may have to replace the entire actuator, sadly. It's a bummer if it still works, but the good news is that it should still becan affordable part to replace. Wonder how it broke though? If the mechanical linkage is hard to turn, wonder if some WD40 or similar lubricant would help with that should that be the cause(?) Good luck on the project!
@@JorgeInTheTube we did buy another actuator, and actually was only like 20$, wonderful site we found online, so we had already planned on replacing the whole thing. He sprayed it down with lubricant and nope still won't turn. But how are we suppose to get the hatch open, if we can't turn that little part...that is my question!? Thank you for responding

If youre standing facing the engine bay, its at the front left side of the intake.

Sorry to hear that, Richard. It's a harsh reality, i have noticed the price has gone up on auto parts in general. If you can install it yourself, you will still save the labor, which has also gome up... Good luck with your project.
Excellent video. I found your style and manner of presenting information very refreshing and feel good - I did not care that you were not up on the technical jargon you were simply presenting a narrative of your experiences in your own voice and had excellent visual aides to show and tell! Bravo! Well Done! The design of these Intake Manifolds are frustrating! The cause of failure is the integration of metal parts with this good for nothing composite plastic material in this area where the fuel injectors are spraying fuel and air mixture is at its most important stage for combustion! Naturally there is going to be high carbon build-up! The runners bind-up easily! Cleaning the carbon is a challenge and depending on the process and chemicals used will affect how the runner control functions going forward... The computer will notice a failure to maintain the proper Air Fuel Ratio and throw the code. Where on anyone's else videos has anyone even come close to so easily and simply managing to hit the nail square on the head? You did it very nicely...

I must admit I was pissed that you didn't finish the job - moving the washer from teeter-totter into real life position. Especially since I already thought of the idea of using 2x4x2. However! Once you have the washer teetering over the tray on 2x4x2 it's an easy 1 man job to walk it in to place!

I have a 2014 Jeep Patriot that had a code intake manifold runner position circuit high. Can you tell me what that means and how long I could hold off on it
Hi Tony, so it appears this code also popped up during the same time when we began to have the intake manifold problem. I believe these 2 codes are one in the same. If I can remember correctly, the performance was partially affected, yet the car was still usable. The main reason for doing the work at the time was emissions: it was time for smog check and codes needed to be cleared. If your own Patriot feels fine thus far, you should be fine until you are financially ready to make the expense. Hope this helps. Thanks for commenting on my video! Good luck!

I have a 2013 patriot and got rear ended by a kid. Liftgate has no visible physical damage but the liftgate won't open even while unlocked... Im lost at which part I need to replace
This is a very common problem in this model and newer ones. If you have problems driving the car and won't go over 40kmh and gets a bit better when using the auto/manual shifter then that's what it is.

Just did this to my wife's 2015. At first the rear wouldn't unlock randomly. Then the other doors wouldn't. I figured this may have something to do with the rear hatch. 25 minutes later (15 of it searching for the right damn hex), done. Works like new.

What were the symptoms that led you to change it? Or was it just the code? My car will drive and then loses power for a second and then comes back in limp mode. Push gas pedal down and get high RPM’s with limited response. P2017 is 1 of the codes and I’ve already changed all the plugs and coils and it continues to happen
