Every Pentaholic knew who they were after Scott sang the very 1st note! It was so much fun to watch to see what they were going to sing each week. The judges & audience were blown away after each performance.
I agree that if they had done some of the later songs at the beginning, WE might have taken more than 10 seconds to figure it out. I heard an interview where they said that they couldn't let KO beatbox because then everyone would have know right away. And I thought, have you heard yourselves? You're all recognizable and very distinctive, even in disguise. LOL. But it might have risked their elimination too if they'd switched the order, depending on who the other singers were? I wonder if the increase in their fan base from this will help them to do the National Anthem at the SuperBowl since they blew the college football championships away! Just curious...It's hard to believe that people still have to be convinced that acapella sells when it's done well.
@@wendischambach6181 I think maybe they actually DON'T realize how distinctive their voices are. They seemed to think that having instruments behind them was a disguise, as if we haven't all heard them with numerous instruments on their latest Christmas album. When my husband was in the nursing home he lost a LOT of weight, and by the time I realized it was happening and managed to pry the reason for the weight loss out of him it was too late to do anything about it. And the reason I was so slow on the uptake is that I was visiting him almost daily, and you don't notice gradual changes. Pentatonix know how good they are; that's clear. But they're also best friends; they see each other all the time. I recognize the voices of my best friends, but I don't expect total strangers to; maybe Pentatonix are the same way. Maybe to, say, Mitch, Scott's voice is just a normal voice (and remember, Scott was taking the lead on _The Masked Singer,_ and it was his voice that gave it away immediately). I'm thinking about it as I type and not expressing myself well, but it just feels like a normal, human kind of mistake to make. And I think that maybe, what with all the fame and fortune, the members of Pentatonix have found themselves occasionally wishing that they could just be anonymous, everyday people, not be constantly on stage, and those wishes could bias their thinking.
2 of the judges, by the end knew, but they were guessing Osmonds, a conglomeration of other singers and two other groups of singers; I can’t recall. Can you say clueless?🙃
Name me one other time that departing contestants on The Masked Singer got to sing an entire song rather than just twenty seconds as the show ended. Even the winners only get a twenty second outro. I believe that Pentatonix knew they had to leave the show when they did because of the tours they’ve been on, and the producers appreciated their appearance on the show.
My theory is the show realized everyone already knew they were and if they were going to carry that unknown element into the finals PTX needed to go. And since the group was on tour, they were all good with it.
I know that everyone gets to sing a full version of their unmasked performances, the show only shows 20 seconds of it. Look up even Ringmaster's unmasked performance and it's the full version. Now them showing the full one of the show is defiantly them saying, if it wasn't for scheduling conflicts they would have won, so let's let them have their moment.
Was so fun waiting for you to realize it was all of them and not just Scott! They were amazing but yep, we all knew it was him from the first line haha
Every Pentaholic in the ENTIRE UNIVERSE knew it was them from Scott's first note. If you watch his body movements you can tell it is him. He sings with such intensity!
They made it to the semi finals. They woz robbed - everybody thought so! I love this version of Creep, it's amazing. I saw PTX for the first time live in London on 4 May (even though I've been a fan for 12 years!) and it was EPIC! They are just the most talented performers and singers I have ever heard.
Please keep in mind that this is strictly an "entertainment" show and nothing like "Sing off" or "American Idol". The "winners" or more accurately the acts going to the next show probably has much more to do with their availability than the quality of their performances. The last two PTX performances on this show was taped, as they were already in Europe at the time of airing for their tour. As Saucey said, everyone knew it was them, however only one of the "judges" guessed PTX, to play off the "mystery". Thanks for the reaction.
@rogerroger5171 all their performances were pre recorded back in January. The show also had the winner picked from the start. That's why they saved medusa when ptx beat her on their first episode.
The more I reflect on this, I feel like this wasn't a robbery, but a deliberate exit. I suspect that they either were heading out on tour or prepping for it, and the extra day or two to do the finale just wasn't possible. So this ep was basically setting up for that. I mean, KO's beatboxing is such a tell, why do it unless there's no longer a need to maintain the facade? Plus, you had the effects on the singout song, and having the entire song aired just gives a feeling of "this was ready to go" as opposed to "these are some last minute effects". So with that said, of the final two, Macaw should've won if the votes were legit.
@Kevin Wong I would agree had they not pre-taped everything back in January. The fact that they saved Medusa when ptx beat her and then she goes on to win the whole thing when most people couldn't stand her voice tells me it was rigged. They had her win planned from the start. It was promo for her tour that was announced during her time on the show.
Loved your reaction!! You were so excited. 😊 If you are a Pentaholic, there is no way you could not know who they were. When they did CREEP, Mitch's special gift of a voice was unmistakable!
When they first walked out onto the stage and I saw there were 5 of them my first thought was "wouldn't it be funny if that were Pentatonix" When I heard the first note I almost fell off my chair!
There are actually a lot of people who have not only not heard PTX perform, but have not even heard OF them. We took 2 other couples to a PTX concert last year and none of them had ever heard of them. Traffic getting into the venue was horrific and one of our friends said, THIS CRAZINESS for an a capella group? By the end of the evening they were all just blown away. The judges were guessing casts of musicals: cast of Hamilton, High School Musical, Pitch Perfect, etc. I personally believe that at least 3 of them knew from the beginnig that it was PTX, but had to maintain the element of ignorance to keep the suspense of the show going. In the beginning I wondered why they featured Scott so exclusively, but I think PTX's goal was to increase their exposure to a bigger audience, and Scott just has the most typically "pop" voice, so he was a hook to the audience who isn't familiar with the group. As time went on, they brought in the other band members more. Those who weren't familiar with PTX most likely thought the high solo in Creed was Kirstie, but when it turned out to be Mitch, even the judges seemed surprised.
I’m a year late, but I enjoyed this reaction so much that I’ve watched it multiple times. I love that you knew 20 seconds in that it was Scott, but not that it was the entire group until the third song. They were phenomenal and I’m certain that their leaving was because they needed to for scheduling reasons because all Pentaholics KNOW that they were the best contestants ever.
I enjoy watching some of his reactions over again. His reaction to pentatonix Joyful, Joyful live is my favorite. I've seen it probably like 50 times. And I still watch it! It's like a comfy blankie.
In an interview, PTX has said they are bringing their Masked Singer songs on the road this summer. So far, they have only done Creep in Europe (and I believe in New Zealand?), but they said that they were going to have a whole "Bentobonix" offering - so I assume it means the Summer tour in the US. I can't wait!
The audio version of Creep that PTX released (and that you've already listened to) was done after they'd been eliminated and unmasked - it's a "cleaned up" version of the song they did while masked. Enjoyed seeing the realization that it wasn't just Scott, but all of PTX performing during Total Eclipse of the Heart. I had the same trouble thinking Kirstie was Mitch until Mitch actually started to sing in that one! Scott said he tried to disguise his voice, but I think he had a fail on that. At least the blonde judge (don't know any of their names) guessed Pentatonix. Early on one of the judges mentioned them, but I don't remember for sure which one - may have been the same one. But like you, anyone who's heard them sing before recognized Scott's voice inside of a few seconds. But they have to try to keep the "suspense" up for the show.
I had that problem of distinguishing between Kirstin and Mitch from the beginning, and there are still moments where I can't say. There are frequencies where they just sound so extremely similar and you have to wait until they sing a bit more and get to a point where you can clearly hear their identities. Of course Mitch goes way higher and then it's obvious. Or if he sings deeper. But there is some overlap in the middle that is hard to keep apart.
I stumbled on this too. I was getting bored with all the shows on Netflix and Hulu and remembered The Masked Singer, specifically with Wayne Brady and was like "I should go see if there is new seasons".... Of course, there were 7 seasons since I last watched it. This season only had one episode at the time so I decided to watch it. As I watched the episodes roll out, these guys appeared and literally shocked my soul. I was hooked on it until the end lol.
I love how you seemed to unconsciously slip into a smile at about 12:07 during Creep when Mitch hit his high note. I feel like it's just a natural reaction to hearing his amazing voice! I'm with you, though. Any true Pentaholic immediately recognized Scott's distinctive voice from the very first line of the first song. :)
I have never been so delighted watching a reaction as I was today watching you try to guess who they were. When I saw your face recognize a voice, it was a treat. They came in 3rd. Robin Thicke and Jenny McCarthy Wahlberg guessed it was Pentatonix after a couple of performances. Thank you for reacting to this.
😂😂😂 I realized that it was Pentatonix as soon as I heard the first few words to paparazzi, and then especially when while he was singing that it was Scott when he dis his signature hand rolly thing he does when he us singing he does it all the time, and in most videos 🤣🤣🤣
Out of all of them, even though they all have distinctive voices~ there is just No hiding Mitch’s ❤ As much as I know we all wanted them to win, I think they made themselves lose so they could continue the tour with less traveling required. Just my thoughts.
I knew it was PTX form the very first note of Paparazzi, but when they performed Creep it took my breath away. Such a new sound for them, but it was awesome.
I want to find someone in my life who lights up looking at me. so amazingly .. the same way this guy looks , listening to this amazing group…. He is on fkn cloud 9 I fukn LOVE IT !!! When he heard creep he turned into a different person. It was so fucking awesome.
When I saw this notification, I clicked on it lightning fast! It was so great seeing the realization of who they are wash over your face! They should have won, as they were head & shoulders above all the other contestants!!! But I'm fairly certain that this whole show is planned out way in advance, and I personally believe the judges know ahead of time who everyone is & it's pretty much all scripted. I think Ptx had a schedule to keep & needed to be on their way somewhere so they needed to be eliminated. They finished 3rd, but all of us knew they were the best BY FAR! I had never even watched this show, but I was told by other Pentaholics that I should check it out, especially the Cali Rolls. I knew it was Scott 3 words in, then seeing there were 5 of them - no brainer! I hope they release Total Eclipse of the Heart as an official song on their channel like they did for Creep. I really loved hearing Kevin doing so much of the lyrics!! This one is going on my fav Ptx reactions playlist!! Have a great day SauceyDad!!
I did the same thing during the show... he was 2 words in and I looked to my kid and said. That is Scott. If I remember right, I think Robin and Jenny guessed them.
Based on other comments here, it does seem likely Pentatonix knew when they were going to exit the show, especially considering they let them sing their whole exit song and not just the little bit they normally do at the end. The show producers knew it was going to be special.
I new on the first line that it was them :). They were so great, real unicorns. And, I love you are betting your life that you are right. Of course you are!!!! Love you and sauce family!❤
My first time watching you react to PTX. Subbed cause of your comment to Nicole about Mitch's high notes. 😂😂😂 Looking forward to watching your other PTX reactions. Pentaholics unite! ❤❤❤
The first 2 seconds, I saw your face change and i was like..yes.. he KNOWS! Yes! And I was verbally talking to you as your brain was working it out like go on.. yes.. you know.. say it!! Lol 😂😂😂
Like you, I knew it as soon as Scott opened his mouth. It was fun to watch, and I guess the judges might not have known ASAP (*wink*). It was fun to watch and listen to though, wasn't it? Loved your reaction, SauceyDad!!
I think after the first song one of the panelists suggested PTX. They kept throwing out other guesses, I'm sure they have to do that for the show. I think after the 2nd week, Jenny suggested PTX and the crowd started chanting "Jenny, Jenny, Jenny" because they all agreed and knew.
Okay I requested this and watched it on the live steam and I've now watched this twice and I laugh every time when you finally realize three songs in that it's all of them!
Your real-time reaction was similar to most people, I think. Start with "Oh, it's Scott", and then at some point, "Oh wait, it's the entire group". And yes, when you looked at the clues, you could pretty match match every one with one of the members. But the thing with groups is that you can somewhat disguise your voice, but harmonies are so ingrained that it's hard to create something atypical. We see it here, we saw it with the Lambs last season, and we saw it with the Russian Dolls and Queen Cobras. It's a huge tell for anyone who has listened to those harmonies for a long time.
Your reactions are always the best. First time I heard Scott sing I knew who it was too. Honestly if they haven’t heard their music (which would be a crime)….it’s not as easy to pick up. However I agree all their voices are SO DISTINCT ❤❤
I loved his aha look! It took me a minute to realize KO opened this song before Scott. Order was KO, Scott, Kirstin. Mitch, Matt. Kirstin did the long solo part. Dynamite!
@@loris1620 No, it was Matt, Scott, Kirstin, Mitch and Kevin in order of singing on Total Eclipse of The Heart. Kevin sang "Every now and then I fall apart" before Kirstin sang that line again with the lead part. Kevin also sang "Once Upon a time I was falling in love, now I'm only falling apart. There's nothing I can do, a total eclipse of the heart". I could always tell who sang what by looking at the costumes in addition to their voices
Two of the judges gave their final picks as PTX. I'm sure they all knew, but they probably can't all give the right answer, that wouldn't be any fun. And yeah, basically the entire internet knew who it was, whether because they were a Pentaholic or because they were told by a Pentaholic, lol! (It's sad there are still humans out there that don't know who they are.)
Yes, the s9ng where you said that if that was the first one that you wouldn't have guest right away. Theu really took that Kelly Clarkson and made it Iazz. Just beautiful.
The premise of the show is the audience votes for who they like the best. Not who can guess who they are. And yes several if not all the judges guessed who they were.
I wonder if PTX ever imagined that their careers would lead to them dancing and singing on a stage dressed as sushi...😂 I don't know how the judges didn't figure out who it was the moment Scott started singing!
Love your "Reaction Of Shock" 🤣when they unmasked was Hilarious! Unless of course it was a look of relief that you didn't actually have to jump out the window!
I still think they bowed out due to scheduling, this was taped last year and usually, it ends around thanksgiving. They told them to cut them loose. I feel like this is what happened. I have no confirmation but that is what I think.
Love this.... I knew it was PTX from the very first note. Scott has a very distinct voice. They came in 3rd. I know 1 judge guessed it was them. Maybe 2 did.
You would have known from just the clues. First, you could see there were 5 of them. The clues were things like one of them attended an Ivy League school, one was on Broadway, they collaborated with Dolly Parton and Snoop Dog, they showed a map going from Texas to LA. etc. Non-Pentaholics wouildn't get it but the rest of us just needed one note from Scott to confirm the answer. Scott said that he was "legit trying" to disguise his voice but soon realized that no one was fooled. He took at selfie from inside the sushi roll. They were wearing the costumes like a backpack.
Who could have possibly guessed who they were? 🤔 Today is Diana Ankudinova's birthday, so Happy Birthday Diana! 🎉🥳🎈🎂🍰🎁🎊 You should check out Diana's performances on Russian Masked Singer, you even knowing it's her, you won't believe your ears. Her first performance is of "Bloody Mary" by Lady Gaga.
* OH NO you stopped it too soon you missed the ending!!! I like Masked Singer, I've watched them all. I *Knew* it was PTX the moment Scott opened. Scott wanted to do the show but yeah the tour schedule was set, so they finished 3rd (rumor says on purpose) lots of Pentaholics were upset they didn't win.
Knowing that they were obviously in on the way it would end - probably even requesting to finish 3rd so they could keep their schedule makes it easier to bear. If I thought they were actually eliminated bcoz the judges thought the other 2 were better, I would be in disbelief & very, very upset!!
You're SOOOOO right about the only person who might win would be Kevin. Also, I'd be very interested in learning how they place fhe singing holes on these costumes. How does THAT shit work? 😮
Poor Scotty, he said he was trying to disguise his voice and were were all, like, yeah, nice try, kiddo. Still, I held off declaring "100% PTX" as they also held back on the harmonies at first song to attempt to confuse matters, but at the top of the song you can absolutely hear Mitch's timbre in the harmonies clear as day. That was the end of all doubt for me. And then Kirstie, Mitch, and Matt all took lead moments in Total Eclipse and finally Kevin pulled out the beatboxing so I figured everyone 100% knew. Two of the judges did guess PTX, but it's all scripted, I am sure everyone knew by that point. They made it to the Semi Finals, and I feel sure they would have won it if they weren't a group. I think they would not want a group to win Masked Singer, as the title is singular. Another fan pointed out the parallel of the word "Run" and Mitch in a TV competition show and I thought that was so cool! His first universally acknowledged Mitch Slap was his solo in "Dog Days" on "The Sing Off" which ended with him belting "Run." Then he belts the crap out of "Run" in "Creep." Very cool.
This makes you wonder if Pentatonix being on The Masked Singer opens the door for other a cappella groups like Home Free and VoicePlay to perform on the show in the future.
“I’m terrible at guessing”
First line, first song “that’s Scott” 😂
Loved your transfixed proud Dad smile during Creep ❤
Every Pentaholic knew who they were after Scott sang the very 1st note! It was so much fun to watch to see what they were going to sing each week. The judges & audience were blown away after each performance.

They really should have won.Scott said the hardest part for them was rearranging and learning the new songs in such a short time.
I had them pegged by note one. I’m a fan, and I’d know those voices ANYWHERE!
Love how you point out Scott, even while they’re all singing together in acapella form. lol, and surrounded by other rolls. The whole video! lol
Based on other comments here, it does seem likely Pentatonix knew when they were going to exit the show, especially considering they let them sing their whole exit song and not just the little bit they normally do at the end. The show producers knew it was going to be special.
A fantastic way to garner a whole new group of pentaholics!
Ive had the honor of hearing creep performed live and it was fantastic
Heck those people got a free and AMAZING show.
Scott said they tried to disguise their voices a little and experimented with some new styles. Seemed like a had a lot of fun.
I saw ptx live for the first time on may 4th in london They were Amazing,Thanks Nick
The look on your face when you realised it was all of them 5 😂😂 but I think in “total eclipse of the heart” you confused Kevin for Matt 😅
I loved his aha look! It took me a minute to realize KO opened this song before Scott. Order was KO, Scott, Kirstin. Mitch, Matt. Kirstin did the long solo part. Dynamite!
When he said "That's Matt", it was indeed Matt
@@loris1620 No, it was Matt, Scott, Kirstin, Mitch and Kevin in order of singing on Total Eclipse of The Heart. Kevin sang "Every now and then I fall apart" before Kirstin sang that line again with the lead part. Kevin also sang "Once Upon a time I was falling in love, now I'm only falling apart. There's nothing I can do, a total eclipse of the heart". I could always tell who sang what by looking at the costumes in addition to their voices
@@hcroussette Actually, it was Kevin when he said Matt. Kevin was the last to sing on the first verse of Total Eclipse...
You just witnessed a whole audience getting Mitch slapped all at once!
They all have such unique voices, I don't know why anyone doesn't know who this is.
Yes, the s9ng where you said that if that was the first one that you wouldn't have guest right away. Theu really took that Kelly Clarkson and made it Iazz. Just beautiful.
One of the clues was "5 Billion" another was "Feeling like I'm 19 again". At least one of the judges guessed Ptx right from the start.
Yes. We knew and loved
With all us Pentaholics out there, it's was pretty darn easy. First
note.Scott for sure.
That was fun! I love that you thought it was just Scott at first 😂
I still think they bowed out due to scheduling, this was taped last year and usually, it ends around thanksgiving. They told them to cut them loose. I feel like this is what happened. I have no confirmation but that is what I think.
They just finished season 9 to be exact.
I thought it was so funny that you were convinced throughout Papparazzi that it was just Scott when there were 5 people on stage.
I was fortunate to see them in London! But it was before the "reveal" so we didn't get to hear them perform Creep.
I’m surprised they made it past their first performance. Lol. They are so good. Of course it’s PTX. Fun to watch your face.
7:13 the realisation its pentatonix lol 😂
The judges at the end. 2 guessed PTX 1 guessed the cast of Hamilton..
They made it to the Semi-Final performance.
I knew about 4-5 notes into their first song. I've been a Pentaholic since the Sing-Off days. I watch tons of reaction videos as well.
Love this.... I knew it was PTX from the very first note. Scott has a very distinct voice. They came in 3rd. I know 1 judge guessed it was them. Maybe 2 did.
All I would have needed to see was Scott's fist clenched and I would have known who it was! 😂
@13:15 . . . is that Matt? ? ? ? Sounds incredible . . . so soulfull
" My Mind is Blown" . . . said the ditzy Blond on the panel . . . . . lol . . .
Ahhhh i miss you.. just saying 🫶🫶
I havent seen your videos in so long
Yes sauceyfam! I need to jump on your patreon!!
To be fair to the judges, some were guessing Pentatonix right from the first performance.
I am impressed. It took me to the second phrase to recognize Scott and then I lost it when i realized they were all there.
9:36 im excited to see you hear creep when they do it at the end 🎉🎉
Who could have possibly guessed who they were? 🤔 Today is Diana Ankudinova's birthday, so Happy Birthday Diana! 🎉🥳🎈🎂🍰🎁🎊 You should check out Diana's performances on Russian Masked Singer, you even knowing it's her, you won't believe your ears. Her first performance is of "Bloody Mary" by Lady Gaga.
I laughed so hard when they opened with Scott. If they were actually trying to hide who was singing. They should have led with Kevin.
Yeah everyone knew instantly. They were trending on Twitter every episode they were on
8:28 Pentatonix was a guess on the first performance but they guessed alot of others too
Well, of course it's Pentatonix------was there ever any doubt? Honestly! There are five of them!
I had to find this and see if you could tell!!
The stage was in the round so someone is always going to see have there back
Yes, both Robin and Jenny guessed PTX.
just to let you know Jenny was the only one to guess PTX from their first song and at the end Robin and Jenny guessed PTX.
As much as I admire and love Kelly Clarkson I really enjoyed the PTX version on Breakaway better ... yes every fan knew it was them 😅
* OH NO you stopped it too soon you missed the ending!!!
Isn’t it the audience that votes?
@@HyggeDk not all of america, just the in-studio and the judges
Right, the audience.
I called it from day 1 and this is the 9th season
Their RUclips cover of "Creep" was posted AFTER the reveal.
I knew who they were on the first song first note
They finished in 3rd place - totally should have won!
This makes you wonder if Pentatonix being on The Masked Singer opens the door for other a cappella groups like Home Free and VoicePlay to perform on the show in the future.
Problem is, for fans, they also have pretty distinctive voices.
It was kind of the worst kept secret and easiest guess on Masked Singer history. Like, Scott's voice is just too unique.
2 of judges guessed PTX before reveal. Don’t know their names but the man at left end and the blonde woman guessed PTX.
They finished in 3rd place.
One person in the comments on the masked singer said it cant be pentatonix bc there are 2 females in that group and pentatonix only has 1. DUH!!
7:27 first voice for total eclipse was kevin
In one of the seasons they went the whole thing without knowing the eventual winner, the Sun, was LeAnn Rimes.
I love your videos
