I loved the great "Mitch slap" moment during the unmasked performance of "Creep"... the shocked look on the faces of the judges, even the ones who had guessed correctly who it was, told me that when they were listening to the "masked" performance, they thought that high final segment had been sung by the female singer. Those of us who have been following PTX for a while are rarely shocked anymore when Mitch goes full "Diva mode" and slays those high notes.
As soon as Scott opened his mouth I knew because he can't hide that voice from me. And I agree about loving seeing people "discover" them for the first time because that's why we watch reactions, right? That unmasked version of Creep lives rent free in my head and is neighbors with their live version of Kiss From a Rose.
They are so unique, amazing and special there is just no hiding who they are! Scott’s first note gave it away. Travesty that they didn’t win! I love how much you love them because I do, too! 😁💜
Yes...I knew it was Scott right away. You got the order right when each was singing a part of Total Eclipse of the Heart. So far you are the only reactor I've seen who has gotten them right. Kirstie is singing the lead. You are right. Robin and the Jenny guessed it pretty soon. Ken and Nicole did not guess them. They did arrange the songs themselves. I feel the same way about reactors. I like them and you saying nice things about PTX.
I don't watch The Masked Singer, so I would have missed their appearance(s) completely if I hadn't heard on the internet that they were appearing. But 2 notes into the first song, I just said, "That's Scott!". Scott said that he tried to disguise his voice, but I'll have to give him a fail on that one - anyone who's heard any songs by Pentatonix knew it was Scott as soon as he started to sing. My favorite of the performances is Total Eclipse of the Heart, because that was really the first one where everyone got to sing and show off their vocal talents. They didn't have Kevin do any beatboxing until almost the end, so as not to completely give it away - but with Mitch's solo on Creep, that was another dead giveaway for PTX.
I knew from the very first clue package even before they sang. As another poster said, the legs (recognized Mitch's shoes) and the fact that there were five was a huge hint, but I could ID every one of the clues. Scott's first note confirmed everything I already knew. It's very rare for the eliminated guest(s) to get to sing a full song at their send-off. Loved the audience reaction when they realized it was man singing those high notes.
Scotty said a few times, but I heard him say it at our VIP meet and greet, that he was trying to disguise his voice, but I was like, ok, kiddo, you know none of you can hide your voices, not from us. Scott did the majority of the arranging, though I assume the others had plenty of input when they were working through them. It seems crazy they didn't win. I know. right? I need their faces! I think it's such a cool coincidence that in 2011 and 2023 on two different competition tv shows 12 years apart, Mitch slapped us by belting the word "Run."
Just like you... insta-chills when Scott starts singing. In fact they never stopped. I love this performance so much. Every day when I watch PTX I will watch this at least once. It's so much fun and so emotional. This makes me Happy! I live in their home town and love PTX so much. So proud of how far they've come. 👏👏👏👏👏 Thanks so much for reacting to this one Carmen!
Lol, I feel the same way you do about them. I've seen them twice in concert and I can't wait for the next one. They are amazing. I never get enough. ❤ And I did know it was them right away.
I couldn’t believe they didn’t win…not even anyone comparable. But Adam Lambert and Jennifer Hudson didn’t win either American Idol either. What!!!! Love that you say you feel so proud of PTX and you enjoy when they are praised. Me too! I want to share their gifts and the joy they bring! Scott’s first note! 😂
Me too -- I love hearing people say nice things about Pentatonix (and other artists I like too) and that's one of the reasons I watch music reactions. And yeah, I feel proud of them too, even though I know it's silly. :) It's especially great to watch a whole huge roomful of people being Mitchslapped, heh. Plus imagining the however many tens or hundreds of thousands of people in the TV audience getting it. :D
I knew they’d do this show eventually lol! I’d recognize Scott’s anywhere and then the rest of them came in and of course it’s PTX! Total Eclipse of the Heart is my fav of the show by a hair. An iconic song of my generation. It also cracked me up watching, I think, Scott and Matt trying to do crowd work in giant sushi costumes😂. 5:11 There’s also cute BTS footage out there somewhere.
I really loved seeing the videos of their performances. I never watch the Masked Singer, because it is usually such a joke. The fact that they took 3rd place just reinforces my opinion of that show.
It is unfortunate that the show is such an obvious fake. It's so easy to see that it's fixed right from the beginning and the "hosts" are just acting. I do appreciate that PTX decided to use the show to gain themselves more notice in mainstream pop, so it worked for them, but it's generally a show I deliberately miss. I did watch youtube vids of all PTX's pieces, so I didn't have to miss their fine vocals.
Two of the judges latched onto them by the second show. Jenny McCarthy and Robin Thicke. But you should have watched each of the performances individually. That way you would have seen the judges thoughts and guesses as well as the hints along the way. Even if you don't react to them, go back and pull each one up and watch them. It's a more complete view of what happened.
Conspiracy theory here. They went on tour immediately after this. Perhaps it was a condition of them entering the show that they could not be in the final, so had to be out at semi stage!
Just a tidbit.... Mitch said that the show picked California Rolls for them because they were from California and this happened right before they were leaving for Japan..
I suspected it was them two days before the show aired lmao. Im an avid watcher of the show so I saw immediately when they posted California Rolls costume. A five member group? Veeeery suspicious. Then the day before Mitch’s dad posted to watch TMS. The clues were obvious. Then Scott’s first note sealed the deal. As a watcher of the show and someone who’s seen every season….yeah, it’s rigged. Clearly. PTX coming in third was just more evidence of that.
I believe it was during the Clues part when they were talking about collaborations with Snoop and Dolly. Plus there were 5 and I knew they won a Grammy with Dolly. Then Scott sang. Over and done. Jenny, who I really can't stand, was the only one who stuck with her guess and I just like Ken's off the wall guesses.
I was really upset when they were eliminated. I thought that they were the best ones out there. I don't know if anyone watches the Netflix show You but their version of Creep could totally be the opening song for that show. A live version of a Mitch Slap!!!
I'll be honest, I have no idea if I would have sussed them out or not, but having not seen it live, it's impossible not to recognize them, and I've watched Masked Singer videos where I knew who it was and still couldn't tell for sure, so I feel like I probably would have figured it out by the second show, if not immediately.
I don't watch the show, but I'm pretty sure they knew who they were and that it was predetermined Pentatonix wasn't going to win. I'd like full versions of the songs, especially Total Eclipse of the Heart.
Scott’s voice is unmistakable. Plus having five of them. Too much a coincidence to not be PTX. Plus you can hear Mitch’s voice. Nobody has a voice like his voice.
I knew the minute Scott started singing!!! I LOVE being able to see them sing! It makes such a difference, they put so much into each performance!
Absolutely! Anyone familiar with Pentatonix would recognize his voice/style immediately. Our favorite "riff god" was showing off his stuff in this.

When they walked out and I saw their legs, I knew who they were. Scott's first note sealed the deal.

Yes, the first time they came out and Scott started singing, I knew it was Pentatonix.
Me too. It was so Scott’s voice out of the gate.
Scotts voice, first sentence. Can't mistake him.
My daughter and I knew from Scott’s first note. I believe Scott did most of the arrangements. Love your reviews.
They are so unique, amazing and special there is just no hiding who they are! Scott’s first note gave it away. Travesty that they didn’t win! I love how much you love them because I do, too! 😁💜
The whole reason I watch reaction videos to them! I feel like a proud mom! Thanks for putting this one out on YT for us non-patrons! You're the best!

The first note out of Scott's mouth was when I knew!
I knew the first note out of Scott's mouth ❤

Your reaction was priceless. I loved it. Pentatonix did an amazing job on the show. Wish they had won.
I knew from Scott's first note. His voice is so recognizable.
Just like you... insta-chills when Scott starts singing. In fact they never stopped. I love this performance so much. Every day when I watch PTX I will watch this at least once. Thanks so much for reacting to this one Carmen!
I love seeing others react to them also, I feel like a proud parent! Literally 95% of my RUclips history is PTXreaction videos 😂
Lol, I feel the same way you do about them. I've seen them twice in concert and I can't wait for the next one. They are amazing. I never get enough. ❤ And I did know it was them right away.

I recall reading that they asked to "lose" that week as their 2022 (?) tour was getting ready to start
Me too -- I love hearing people say nice things about Pentatonix (and other artists I like too) and that's one of the reasons I watch music reactions. And yeah, I feel proud of them too, even though I know it's silly. :)

I think by the 3rd note, I was convinced. Hard to mishear that voice of Scotts! Then the harmony ... Hello!!! ❤
Within the first few seconds, as soon as Scott started moving his hands!!
As soon as Scott started to sing I was certain it was them. They came in third place. Preposterous indeed!
I really loved seeing the videos of their performances. I never watch the Masked Singer, because it is usually such a joke. The fact that they took 3rd place just reinforces my opinion of that show.

Thank you for a wonderful reaction.
The blonde judge was the only judge who had them identified from the beginning. The other judges did not know who it was at the beginning.
Yes, I knew instantly. From the moment I heard Scott's voice, I knew it was PTX
As Soon as Scott shoved that first word out of his lips and realized it was 5 people, i knew instantly, had no doubt.
I wish they'd do a complete cover of Paparazi. They sound ridiculous!!
I knew it was them from the first note out of Scott’s mouth. If you’re a pentaholic it was evident.
No question this was the singoff 2.0 for them. But I'm so glad they got the chance to do it! Thanks so much for sharing!!
I knew the minute Scott opened his mouth!!
Scott said the first song he was trying to disguise his voice, but it didn't work. Lol

I'm still shocked that they didn't win the entire thing!
They had to stop at this point because their overseas tour was about to start and they couldn’t finish the competition.
that makes sense! Thanks@@chrispavlich9656
I saw five and then the second Scott started singing it was confirmed for me
I knew as Scott sang the first note👍👍
When i saw there were 5 of them i thought it might be them and when i heard the first singing i knew it was.
Conspiracy theory here. They went on tour immediately after this. Perhaps it was a condition of them entering the show that they could not be in the final, so had to be out at semi stage!
Yes, I agree with you. I'm glad they were on the show, and we got new songs from them. It was fun. ❤
It was so silly watching the judges pretend to not know who they were.
I agree with you. collectively, they are unstoopabble. Add in Kirstie and Mitch's performances, and we're over the top.
Just a tidbit.... Mitch said that the show picked California Rolls for them because they were from California and this happened right before they were leaving for Japan..
I.didn't watch but Id have known immediately it was them ..

I knew after Scott sang the first word.
Recommend their cover of My Favorite Things.
Felt exactly how you felt
I believe it was during the Clues part when they were talking about collaborations with Snoop and Dolly. Plus there were 5 and I knew they won a Grammy with Dolly. Then Scott sang. Over and done. I knew with the first line. That was Scott…
Jedes Mal, wenn ich Scotts 190 m Beine sehe, und daran erinnert werde, dass Mitch um die 180 ist, und gar nicht so pocket size wie ich immer dachte.
