    I wish I had such a nice guitar starting out. Fine job on the build, and it looks like an excellent kit. I hope Oliver has great memories doing this with dad and keeps this beautiful guitar for his whole life. It will be a good mod/upgrade platform too, maybe pots/wiring and pickups.

      @@adairguitars good to hear. I live in the US, so I'm going with a US based company to save on shipping. I don't "need" a new guitar though...
      Currently saving up for a Tascam model 12. My 20+ years old 4 track cassette recorder finally started having some issues I can't figure out.
      But I will get one eventually because I've wanted a Les Paul for years.

    • @adairguitars

      Thanks Robert. Didn’t actually shield the cavity. Wanted to see what it sounded like just as a kit, before changing too much (except the nut and tuners). No noticeable difference in interference than other guitars I have that are shielded.

    Just want to say a couple of thanks and also ask one question please. First of all, thanks for building/reviewing/demoing a Pitbull kit. I've had my eye on them for a little while and it's good to see the quality. Second, thanks for showing a father-son build - excellent. I hope Oliver really enjoys the guitar. Finally, one question. What type of logo are you using, and is this something you create or print yourself, or have you outsourced/ordered them from someone who makes them? Just curious because I'm restoring an older guitar with the logo sanded through as part of a repair, and I'm researching solutions.

    • @adairguitars
      @adairguitars  Год назад +1

      The logo is a cricut sticker/decal. Got them made by someone online. Not as thin as a waterslide decal which is what you might need if you’re putting a finish over the top. Thanks for the comments!

    Nice build.
    I am a little concerned about the gap between the neck and body on the treble side though.
    Pitbull has been out of a lot of kits for months and months now - I really hope they can sort their supply chains soon.
    Where were you able to source the Z-poxy pore fill and the nitro lacquer in Aus?
    I'd love to give that a go since I've usually had to settle with acrylic clear for my finishes (although I have found a place that does colour flip paint in spray cans that I'm going to test out)

    • @adairguitars
      @adairguitars  Год назад

      Yeah, I wasn’t sure about the gap at first but didn’t want to have to shorten the neck tenon for a perfect fit. No problem in the end, there is enough wriggle room in the saddles for intonation.
      Can’t remember where I got the z-poxy, but it would have been an online Australian hobby/craft supplier. The nitro was from www.sydneyguitarsetups.com

    Great video. I just purchased a T style DIY kit from pitbull guitars. I plan on giving the whole guitar a natural finish with the wipe on poly. As a bit of a novice may I ask what sandpaper grits you used before starting the finish process?

    • @adairguitars
      @adairguitars  Год назад

      From memory it was up to 320 grit or possibly 400. This was the first pitbull kit I’ve done and have been happy with it.

    • @bumble2130
      @bumble2130 Год назад

      Thanks for replying to my comment. I have started the finishing process with wipe on poly and 1st coat looking good. May I ask you to explain what you did in between coats? Once I apply the poly I quickly use clean paper towel to pick up excess oil. Keen to understand your process as yours came out flawless

    I respect your skills, but was disappointed to see your son getting so little hands-on time on the build.
    I think you robbed him of most of the joy of building his own guitar and made him more of a spectator, watching someone else build his guitar.
    It's wonderful to see that father and son learning time, doing a project together, but (to my thinking) it would have been better for you to guide each task and get him doing 90% of the actual hands on work. 👍🙂
