Thanks Tye! I was originally hoping that the cavity would be below the veneer line, but then I decided on all the electronics and that plan changed to have to make it bigger.
I love everything about that guitar. The choice of woods, the shape of the body and the great headstock design. I would pick that exact guitar everyday of the week. Congratulations sir.
I agree natural wood finish was really the only option for this guitar unless you would have painted it and who would have wanted to cover up that beautiful wood grain and patterns. Not me for sure. It looks great and sounds good as well. I like the way you turned the exposed biscuit in to a feature and did not try to to blend in in to the rest of the body.
I was following along on Instagram and absolutely love how your build turned out! I especially like how you use black veneer on the joints, I'll definitely have to steal that on one of my next builds.
I agree, that block of silky oak to cover the finger join in the blackwood is my favorite feature too. Natural was also the right choice when working with such lovely woods.
Nice guitar buddy! I actually do the same side dots with aluminium tubing but I also use 6mm for the fret markers and fill them with the sawdust too. And dremmel for a blade switch, are we related? 🤣
Thanks Daniel! It’s a vice designed to cut fine angles, likely for box making. The black disc is magnetic so it keeps the saw perfectly vertical and then you can adjust the angle up to 45 degrees. I like to use it on small pieces of wood where I want a precise cut.
That is a stunning guitar. I'm so glad I found your channel a couple of years ago. Your videos are great, the guitars even better!!! Can't wait to see your next project.
The biscuit fix was pretty cool...although it might have looked more intentional if you had carried it up through the pickups. Very cool build, though. I really like the fret markers filled with the ebony dust.
You have outdone yourself yet again Mr Adair!!! Loved your Dr Who inspired guitar and look forward to seeing your builds every year. Please keep inspiring us!
What an amazing achievement to build this guitar. I’ve watched the Dr Who and LOTR videos and they are amazing builds as well. Did you come from a woodworking background? I can only guess you have built many guitars previously to get to this level of excellence.
The only thing I don't like about this guitar is it isn't mine! Definitely buying some tickets! Great build and sound. I bet it'd roar plugged into your Fender amp! Thanks for the vid.
That looks amazing. I would've been cursing like a mad man when that biscuit joint revealed itself during the carving process. I had a small worm hole reveal itself during mine and definitely had a few choice words then. In my case I was able to carve a bit further to get rid of it. You came up with a great fix. Love the veneer accents - now I wish I did that with the stripes for my build. Also it's really cool you went with those chameleon pickups. I suggested looking into those in your announcement video. Crazy amount of tonal options with that configuration. How was the wiring process?
Ah, yes i remember that suggestion now. Thanks! Thought I would challenge myself with some different wiring again for GGBO. the wiring wasn’t too bad. Just kept it methodical and soldered as much as I could before putting it in the guitar.
Nice Guitar and great video!!! I have some question to the building. What kind of tape und superclue do you use, for hold all the diferent miling tamplates in place? and what is that black material that you put into the wood glue?
I really love your work, you're great. The screws in the back plate on the control panel though, humm. Why didn't you use magnets instead? All brilliant otherwise 😊😊
Love the shape and the carve. Not so sure about the controls layout, seems a bit cluttered for live situation, but for the purposes of this build I guess it's justified. One thing I wish was made differently is the fret tangs. Clipped and consealed tangs look much more premium IMO. That being said, great build overall.
Cheers, I’m pleased with the playability so far. I think for playing live, someone would have the toggle switches and pots set to suit the music and then change between pickups as needed. Playing at home - no issue at all.
The black veneer that continues through the cavity cover…. Friggin awesome.
Thanks Tye! I was originally hoping that the cavity would be below the veneer line, but then I decided on all the electronics and that plan changed to have to make it bigger.
Echo all the comments and silky oak is frigging gorgeous
Gotta get some more
Good luck
Thanks Corey! I’ll be using it again. Lucky that the closest timber supplier to me has plenty!
Stunning guitar. Beautiful finish. Amazing details and craftsmanship.
Thank you kindly!
I've been watching you for over three years. You always make fantastic guitars. Well done
Very kind of you to say. Glad you’ve enjoyed them all!
awesome guitar & video
I learned some techniques while watching
Glad to hear that!
Outstanding, superb in every way. The video is excellent too. Thank you.
Many thanks!
Looks mighty fine, this year's ggbo is gonna cost me a fortune , so many stunning guitars to buy tickets for ✌️👍
Hope this one comes your way then! I’m looking forward to watching all the final videos.
I hear you Barry.
Oooh I'd so like this one. I'm going to register and bid! 😊
Good luck with the raffle! 👍
I love everything about that guitar. The choice of woods, the shape of the body and the great headstock design. I would pick that exact guitar everyday of the week. Congratulations sir.
Thanks so much!
That's an absolute stunner. Love the wood combination and overall result
Cheers! I’m pleased how it all came together.
That lumber is just delicious... Beautiful clean work as usual.
Thanks Scott. First time using silky oak. Think I might use the leftovers for my Jurgs cup build.
Incredible pickups for an awesome guitar. Love the recycled wood idea for the build!
Thank you! Cheers! I’m looking forward to giving the pickups a thorough test run over the next few weeks.
Natural finished was easily the best option. Cheers!
Great build. It’s a beauty!
Thank you!
I was following along on Instagram and absolutely love how your build turned out! I especially like how you use black veneer on the joints, I'll definitely have to steal that on one of my next builds.
Thanks! I would definitely recommend using veneers for a feature.
I agree, that block of silky oak to cover the finger join in the blackwood is my favorite feature too.
Natural was also the right choice when working with such lovely woods.
The wood combinations came together much better than I anticipated. Very pleased!
Wonderful build, great work Arran👍
Thanks Gio. It was a fun one to make.
Man. That is stellar!
Thanks!
🎉Super!!!🎉🎉🎉😊
Thanks! 👍
Came out beautiful a very attractive guitar anyone would be proud to play and own.
Thanks! 👍
Absolutely stunning work. Bravo!
Thank you! Cheers!
Beautifully done!
Thank you very much!
Another great build 🙂
Thank you! Cheers!
Amazing Arran, as always. Made waking up at 2am worthwhile!
Thanks Jonathan! I must say I’ve had some post midnight nights getting it finished in time!
Nice guitar buddy!
I actually do the same side dots with aluminium tubing but I also use 6mm for the fret markers and fill them with the sawdust too.
And dremmel for a blade switch, are we related? 🤣
Cheers Neil. Great minds think alike!
One of the best looking guitars I’ve ever seen built.
Thanks!
What is that funny red vice around 19 mins in? I live seeing all your jigs and mats etc. Plus the guitar looks awesome. Great stuff.
Thanks Daniel! It’s a vice designed to cut fine angles, likely for box making. The black disc is magnetic so it keeps the saw perfectly vertical and then you can adjust the angle up to 45 degrees. I like to use it on small pieces of wood where I want a precise cut.
That sounds cool

That is a stunning guitar. I'm so glad I found your channel a couple of years ago. Your videos are great, the guitars even better!!! Can't wait to see your next project.
Thanks, very nice of you to say! One guitar to finish off this year (hopefully) and then a new project in January.
finishing is super clean...wow
Thank you!
The biscuit fix was pretty cool...although it might have looked more intentional if you had carried it up through the pickups. Very cool build, though. I really like the fret markers filled with the ebony dust.
Cheers! I did think about that, but wanted the top to be mostly uninterrupted so the carves had a bit more flow.
You've done a great job with this build, Arran. Can't wait for the full demo of those pickups.
Thanks Bart. A couple of minor setup tweaks and then hopefully can get a demo out before the guitar draw ends.
It rocks!!
Cheers! 🤘
You have outdone yourself yet again Mr Adair!!!
Loved your Dr Who inspired guitar and look forward to seeing your builds every year.
Please keep inspiring us!
I’m very glad you’ve enjoyed them all! Many more to come hopefully. 👍
Fantastic work!
Thanks a lot!
now that is a great guitar build. great story too nice work mate!
Cheers Mick!
Man, such a beautiful guitar! Great wood choice and I love all the details! Amazing work!
Thank you! Cheers!
that thing looks great and really sounds amazing
Thanks! Very pleased.
Beautiful work! Thank you for letting us see the process.
Thank you! Cheers!
This is amazing! ❤ 👌👌👌
Cheers! 👍
I have to agree, that wood is too gorgeous to hide. Spectacular work man, that's a beautiful guitar.
Thank you very much!
Fabulous build Arran... your attention to detail is top notch!
Thanks Rob! 👍
That's a gorgeous guitar. And once you'd got the accent strip you really couldn't stain, even if you hadn't planned to :) Nice one.
Thanks Chris. I think it was meant to be.
yet again a killer build, looks so clean with the natual finish! and the fix is a nice addition tho the whole build in general!
Cheers! I’m very happy how it turned out. Hopefully whoever it goes to will love it as well.
As usual, that is a beautiful result! 👍🏼👏🏼👏🏼🎸👌🏼🏆
Thank you! Cheers! 👍
Great work, beautiful design and execution. Nice save on the surprise domino.
Cheers! I might be doing that as a planned feature on future builds.
Awesome results! I like how you use the router sled to do the machining.
Cheers! The router sled works quite well in the absence of the thicknesser.
I love that shape man! sounds killer too!
Thanks! 👍👍
Happy accidents, it's a great looking guitar and that fillet really works
Cheers! Probably one of my favourite features and the only unplanned part. 👍
What an amazing achievement to build this guitar. I’ve watched the Dr Who and LOTR videos and they are amazing builds as well. Did you come from a woodworking background? I can only guess you have built many guitars previously to get to this level of excellence.
Wow, thanks! Just woodwork as a hobby for me. Something that I’ve always enjoyed doing.
Nice work , great to see an aussie kicking butt in the guitar build off .👍
Absolutely stunning. Great work. I’ve bought a few raffle chances on this.
Cheers! Thanks for buying the tickets and good luck!
Lovely job, gorgeous guitar!
Cheers!
Alittle bit of Terry Kath and John Fogarty at the end😊
Wow, what a great build! I wondered how you'd recover from the biscuit situation. I think it's one of the best features of the guitar too.
Glad you liked it! Definitely my favourite feature.
looks kool but to smushed for me happy new year many more for you and your family😀 looks like lace wood
Really nice guitar and love the shape ! Is it your design ? Finished my guitar 2 weeks ago maybe for the next build something like that :D
Cheers! Yes, my own design. This is the fourth that I’ve made with this shape and I really like it.
Man that is a spectacular guitar!🔥🔥🔥🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Awesome, love your built! I wonder what black veneer that is? is that something artifictial?
Thanks! It’s just a dyed timber veneer. Nothing too fancy.
The only thing I don't like about this guitar is it isn't mine! Definitely buying some tickets! Great build and sound. I bet it'd roar plugged into your Fender amp! Thanks for the vid.
It could be yours! Haven’t tried it with the fender yet. Plenty of headroom in that amp. 👍
That looks amazing. I would've been cursing like a mad man when that biscuit joint revealed itself during the carving process. I had a small worm hole reveal itself during mine and definitely had a few choice words then. In my case I was able to carve a bit further to get rid of it. You came up with a great fix. Nice Guitar and great video!!!
I have some question to the building. What kind of tape und superclue do you use, for hold all the diferent miling tamplates in place?
and what is that black material that you put into the wood glue?
Cheers! It’s regular painters tape and CA glue to hold the templates. Do you mean the veneers? They are .5mm dyed black timber veneers.
wow love this guitar
Thanks! 👍
I really love your work, you're great. The screws in the back plate on the control panel though, humm. Why didn't you use magnets instead? All brilliant otherwise 😊😊
Cheers! Felt like screws would match the exposed trem and the neck screws on the back.
I bought like 8 tickets for this one. Sad not to have won but it was the most magnificent one.
Thank you, very kind of you to say! 👍
Out of curiosity
does the panel of judges look down upon custom builders who use bolt on necks?
No idea. It’s a peer vote from all of the builders in the competition, so people can vote how they like.
What do you use for the black veneer details? And what glues do you use with it? Thanks :) great build
It’s just a 0.5mm black dyed veneer from Australian luthier supplies. Regular titebond wood glue as well. Cheers!
Love the shape and the carve. Not so sure about the controls layout, seems a bit cluttered for live situation, but for the purposes of this build I guess it's justified. One thing I wish was made differently is the fret tangs. Clipped and consealed tangs look much more premium IMO. That being said, great build overall.

great stuff, what is the black veneer you use?
Cheers! Not sure what type of wood, but it’s .5mm dyed black veneer.
I fully hoped that you would build a Ural-650 guitar😅
I think that guitar would have looked 100 time's better with a maple fretboard .
Send me one guitar 🎸😜sir
