Great Choice, Precision Kits are the very best of the best.
I recently built a JM baritone using a PGK kit and love it! Many mistakes were made on my part, but they’re good reminders of the progress I’ve been making
@@lotechrevolt4513 what kind of advice is this? Unsolicited and less than sound if I’m being generous. Sounds like you want to be highlighted as the “high praise of the week” segment
But you had painkillers, so....... it would've relieved it? lolol 🤣
p.s. thanks for all the content over the years Hunter!
Maybe I missed it in the video, but but what brand of dye did you use? Came out really well Hunter
Came out so good my man!
yeah very vool!
@@davidtguitar so vool
Another thing you need to make sure when gluing up a neck into the neck joint is MAKE SURE your neck angle is correct or you're up shit creek without a paddle. Also throw a string butler on that headstock to help with that full straight pull on the strings will help even more with tuning stability.
Next project don’t forget to put multiple coats of oil and raise the grain. Sick build!
This kit seems to be of very good quality!! It would have looked even better if the wood grains could pop through in my opinion. It is actually simple to do: after applying stain (darker color first), you can take the excess away with a clean cloth and after it has dried, you should sand the whole body to reveal the wood grain (darker where in open pores). You can reapply a light coat of stain (same of lighter color), rub the excess and do a fine sanding to finish. And at the end apply the final coats (tung oil or less). Like this, you will really see the wood structure (if you want to..)
And with just tongue oil it should be easy to sand it back and brighten it up
DIY projects are fun and a great learning experience
A flat, clean surface, a clamp for the neck, a few tools, and some paint, and you have what you need. Kits aren't as bad as you would think. Do research. Watch videos, and take your time. 🤘
Exactly this🤘
I don’t even really play but I’ve been wanting to build a kit for years. I’m buying me and my kid guitars this week and we’re both going to learn so maybe I’ll actually build one soon too.
@@agoodballet that's awesome. My son and I love playing, and tinkering with guitars. It's something fun, we'll always have in common. You guys will too, if you decide you enjoy it. Have fun!
@@randymiles904 same for me and my dad, we're thinking of throwing emg 81 and 85 in his Korean epiphone les paul, set it up and sort all the wiring. It should be fun 🤘
@@roastpenguin8787 fantastic guitar to mod. I was lucky enough to find a Korean Les Paul, and it's one of my favorites. Well built guitar. After sperzel locking tuners, graph tech nut, Ebonized fret board, 80's Duncan distortion bridge pup, and a tone pros bridge, it's a killer. Have fun with your project man. Agufish inspired me to finally mod one a few years back. Now I can't stop. It's like a game, to see how good I can make any guitar. Lol FYI stew Mac has some AMAZING videos.
Precision Guitar builds the very best guitar kits available.
Good Choice
And here I was hoping that PGK would stay under the radar! There goes their in-stock models!😂
I’m actually getting ready to start one of their explorers! Super excited. I’m hoping they eventually offer a ‘67 style Flying V kit as well!
When did they get explorer kits? I’ve been looking for one that’s good quality for awhile now…
That’s some light black limba. My black limba Kiesel has is darker and has a bunch of streaking.
Eyy that "Shut Up" riff brings me back
That’s really good love that color combo
For how cheap you can buy these kits you really get a nice starting place for your project.
Oh, Canada!!! 🇨🇦
I've never had a kit guitar, however I have built several guitars that we call a "Parts Caster". A Tele style with SD Hotrail Pickups, a Jackson with P90 pickups and a Strat style HSS with Lace gold pickups and a 10 way super switch.
After years of following you, I'm amazed by your growth, both as a musician and RUclipsr. This demo track fucking slaps! 🤘🏻
Always love the random inclusion of blink riffs. Beautiful build man, I’ve been wanting to do one for awhile and this has definitely made me want to even more.
Ah, Precision kits, I was actually looking into getting the AX model with the Fender scale a while back, they're definitely legit. You should definitely make an Eclipse style singlecut or an SG next, that would be dope!
I made my first kit guitar last year. It definitely was a learning experience. Wasn't the best but it works!
I almost bought the precision explorer kit, they had one on clearance, ended up going with a Harley Benton Kit instead.
Goodness man, that was one of my favorite demo tracks you've ever made
Dude, the tapping you’ve been doing on your riffs are so sick!! I gotta start doing more of that!
why don"t we see the cat in any recent videos? Did Pringle eat it!!!???
That's such a cool guitar and it sounds so good. 👌
It looks awesome and sounds phenomenal. And a sense of pride when you play it , knowing you created a beast
Been waiting to see this video. Looks like it was a lot of fun and you learned a lot!
Sounds and looks great, Hunter! The Bareknuckles have a ton of clarity to them.
Yeeeeeeeee
french toast sticks
Cool dude, I tried to build some stuff too, it's not so easy! But man I love to try this kind of stuff.
With waterside transfers, you want to get a good gloss coat under them, apply logo and get a good gloss coat over the top of them. Whenever this is dry you can then finish it with satin or whatever finish that you want.
Let me specify, it needs to be a water based gloss coat.
Oh noo
Nailed it, looks great, sounds incredible.
Black Stone Cherry is one of my favorite bands ever. I just discovered them a couple of years ago, and they exceeded to number one status on my playlists. That’s sayin a lot to displace Govn’t Mule but anyway they f@#$in rock and rock hard… I like your kit build, it turned out awesome…
I don’t know if you are into double cuts like Les Paul jr. Precision makes a couple of cool jr kits as well single cut jr kit would be cool if you don’t like the double cuts…
Thanks man…
Nice build Sir
Your tone wood specs are very close to mine. Deadly build man, looks sharp AF and sounds awesome
hahaha I’m here before the bot said you posted again
Dope
Sweet build! Everything just meshed perfectly! Great tones!
Great job! Hunter, it looks and sounds mean 😈
What's up with those riffs? When did you get that good? Demo song was straight up 🔥
huge congratulations Hunter... looks and sounds amazing!!
Happy Holidays!
Well work! Well done! Congrats!
Awesome build man! Love the color.
One question though, should the bushings for the bridge and tailpiece be switched? I think they are supposed to be installed opposite of what you have.
Killer work man! Looks and sounds amazing! You've definitely inspired me to build one myself. Wish me luck! Keep up the great content!
Congrats man, really sick guitar!!!
finally a well produced video on a precision guitar kits build
just here to say that those hipshot tom's are sick af
It looks and sounds great! You did well!
Nissssssssssssssssssce 🍻
It's such a great feeling when u build something ur proud of! Especially when it's an Epic Axe like that!🤘🏻
Hunter, thanks for throwing all these extra videos at the end of the year!!!🤘🤘
Finish product came out very nice. Good job 👏
That turned out great! Love the blue and those pickups sing.
Looks & sounds awesome man!!!
That is a cool kit. Love the heel joint. Nice color on top, too. Well done.
This guitar has got me literally foaming out of the mouth, my next guitar is going to be an LP kit build similar to this for sure
Wow that thing looks nice! very nice kit aswell.
Nice build! Those multi-ratio tuners are fascinating
Hey, Austin, thanks! Yeah, dude. Have you tried them before? It's almost bizarre how accurate they get
I've been looking at these kits and thinking about doing a build soon. Thanks for showing the in's and outs.
Looks great man, sounds great too
man, i remember following agufish from his old 2018 epiphone reviews. Feels like a well-travelled journey
Great job man!
was not expecting to hear shut up by blink in this video, after the first bits of playing. great build, now i wanna do one too
Good job tho
i made my strat with a pocket knife some files a hand drill some chisels and sand paper! and it turned out great! i did a thick curly flame quilt maple top with mahogany back and i copped a 59 strat for the contours and comfort cuts, that's wear the pocket knife came in handy! its my nicest guitar now!
Pocket knife is great for carving! Used it too a lot on my kit-build avatar!🙌🏼
Nice! Did a Precision kit build back in October and put together a LP Jr for myself! First build, but won't be the last. Keep up the great work!
Haaaa! Starting out with a premier kit makes all the difference in the world.
These guys at Precision guitar kits literally take 99% of the headache out of the equation right out of the box.
Great choices and the tone pro Bridge. Sweet! Everything top shelf all the way!
My favorite track yet! Killer riffage.
Awesome Job!! I started with kits, now I just buy parts ala carte. Currently building 2 guitars at once. Have built 5 so far. Not one has been bad. I love building my own. Especially when you can get a little adventureous with the builds. Love the Channel and content. Keep on being awesome Hunter!
Nice build. Definitely want to consider painting any routed cavity (pickups/controls) with shielding paint, especially with passive pickups
I used turquoise blue leather dye on a spalted maple kit and bursted the neck with black and sprayed it with poly from a can. I put carbon fiber wrap on the headstock and black hardware, highly enjoyed my project.
Love the smooth taper on the neck joint. Most kits are just a block-end neck.
Great job on this build and big props for that Blink 182 - Shut up riff @26:20.
Turned out awesome!
Omg that Demooooo!!!!!!What a Banger!!!I'm ready for an album Hunter or start a band.
Congrats on the build. It turned out nice. :)
I love it. Will have to give it a try.
Very cool build !
You switched the bridge inserts with the tail piece inserts though, lol.
Still very cool ! Well done ! \m/
Nice project, and it turned out quite nice. Kit builds are relatively easy to do and you learn so much from it. Just expect to make mistakes and don't expect it to be perfect, you'll learn enough to make the next one a little bit better. And soon enough you've gathered enough tools and experience to make your own complete build.
for a first build its pretty nice man! it sounds very good!! 👌🔥🤘
It came out really awesome bro, Right now Im trying to restore or maybe hot rod not sure lol a 1980s Kramer. All I have is a neck and empty body. Thanks for the build inspiration!! 👍🏻🎸
I always get so involved in your process that I forget what an actual unit of a guitarist you are. Always love the post work jam
Awesome job Hunter !! Looks & sounds great !! And YES canadian proud Precision guitar kits out of the province of british columbia here in canada !! :)
The oddity on the headstock might just be precisions way to avoid any gibson bs as they do alot of gibson shapes. They have been around for quite some time now & as much as they are pricey ... as you seen .. you get what you pay for !! :)
Congrats again !! :)
I love Bare Knuckle pickups, I've got them in 8 of my guitars! I haven't tried the Painkillers yet, but I've got Ragnoraks in two of my guitars, they sound amazing! That's a great build, well done!
Well. This is inspiring me to strip and refinish my baritone when i get it...and my cheapo 7 string. Time for purple!
I've been avoiding kit builds like the plague because I don't have all the fancy equipment to make something amazing.
But here you are, making something actually pretty sweet. Might have to rethink my abilities.
Those are pretty cool kits !☠️☠️☠️🖖🏻🎄
That color is badass. I love the matte look. ~ Neal
I own 21 guitars that are “store bought”. I just finished a headless kit build (mahogany body, maple neck, ebony fretboard, fishman moderns wired down to a single volume) and I’m working on a 6 string super strat and a 7 string rg style right now. I don’t think I’ll ever buy another manufactured guitar. You can build anything you want for not a ton of money and it’s so much fun and rewarding
are you in my search history? i was looking at this kits over the weekend hoping to order one soon. thanks for confirming a great kit
Looks great, Hunter! Congrats! Only thing is, I would have gone lighter blue on the top to contrast the dark brown stain on the sides and back.
Nice job for the first time out. I really liked your waterside decal idea. What brand of waterside did you use?
This makes me remember about my first guitar (a Yamaha erg 121) which I sanded all by hand til barewood and proceeded to chisel mindlessly... I couldn't find a finish I loved so it's golden over black (over white over red) but I haven't put the electronics on because I moved and misplaced stuff 😅
So it's been there naked for a year 😅
Yamahas are sick modding platforms! I have Bareknuckle pickups in mine and it rocks its socks off.
Not bad at all for being your first time.🎸👍
nice job man. i like it alot.
Man I dig your build alot. Looks and sounds fuckin siiick.
That bridge reminds me of the old gibson harmonica style ones. So much room for adjustment, genius. Your decals turned out minty too.
👍👍 So rad man
Your playing and writing continue to improve man. Great vid
Came out sick! My wife just got me a kit for Christmas. I am super stoked to get goo on it. But she got a cheaper PRS custom 22 kit. And although wood and neck look good. I have the fear of drill the bridge holes. So I can understand your pain having to have reworked the bridge holes on you kit. Great job!! 👍🤘🎸
Those riffs tho 🔥🤘🏾
Very inspiring video. Really makes me want to do a kit as well. Or have you do another one of these but in a teal finish with a natural tung oil body, sides, and neck. Same hardware but a ser of ragnaroks.
