It's not easy to pull off an extended guitar solo and not make it boring. Jake does it superbly here, adding so much tension and drama to the track!
"You can't do this live"
My friend, they debuted this song live...
I'm a sucker for Dannys drum fills too. This one really highlights his skill SUPER well. Their heavier epic releases like this one and Age of Machine are what I meditate too. I can put this music on repeat and be pulled into such a meditative state. I'm still waiting to hear a song I don't like. These guys are the most incredible musicians I've heard in ages. Thank you for always really listening to the various layers in their songs, Mike.
One of my favorite songs of theirs. It tells a story, beautifully.
Truthfully, any song you choose off this album will be a good one, you really can't go wrong! I love the staggering rhythm on this song for the chorus, and Josh's voice makes you feel like you're falling off a cliff, leading up to the guitar solo. I think your summary of the meaning is pretty accurate too, and possibly with a little bit of how much we've taken from the land because of greed too. Great video, Mike...I was afraid for a minute there that your head was gonna explode, hehehe.
Hey Gayle! Yes I loved the stagger beats they did on the back half of this one especially! Especially the head explodie part! They really dragged me along on that one! lol
@@Yeedeed 😄
an instant classic. we'll be talking about this one 50 years from now.
Another truly beautiful song. The mixing and sound are great, love it!
Told you😁👍🏼 Thank you for the reaction.
Saw GVF IN Toronto. They did this song. 😍 Chills, just remembering this concert.
WOW! This was fun! I noticed that you smiled almost the entire way through this tune - so i know you were enjoying it. Greta said that this was a sort of cliffhanger, as they've already started writing songs for their next album. I love listening to this as I'm driving and it makes the time fly by. Waiting for your next reaction. 😎
Great reaction! This is definitely my favorite from the album. Might just be because I loved Black Flag Exposition so much, lol. Something you should DEFINITELY check out is their live version of "Broken Bells" that they just posted on their channel today. It's like a candlelight session and they even have a string orchestra playing along with them. I think it really shows how much they've matured as musicians.
This is so damn epic. Love during the solo especially during the hammering portion how it slowly waves from ear to ear, so subtle but such an important part of the mixing by Greg Kurstin.
i feel like in a say this song was more special than any other on thr album considering that they performed an early version at red rocks, like when I was listening to the album at 12:00 am on a school night and i heard that riff i j smiled
I love this new version, it's Epic!
Next song. Trip the light fantastic
I love your reaction videos of GVF. You make them so enjoyable to watch. These guys are amazingly talented musicians. I get excited every time I hear their music. Love these guys!
Jake scratches my brain so good in this solo. I swear I love these guys so much and can't wait to see them on the Dreams in Hold tour.
Cant stop watching your reactions to GVF you definitely have a new subscriber. Great passion for music 👍 only thing I would say is dont apologise for stopping or going back man, do your thing its good to hear your opinion and passion on parts of the song you really like. If people dont like it then they can watch something else. Thanks for your videos.
Great reaction they've actually been playing the instrumental portion of this for several years now as part of the extended lay down/ candles in the rain live version that they put out a few years ago it's a pretty incredible piece
A true masterpiece. It’s not like they haven’t made many more (especially on this album) but, it’s so unique and brings so many things together that they’ve never done. Like Josh mentioned live, it’s more sinister sounding for sure. Seems prog-rocky and I love that. It’s my favorite GVF song by a mile. That chord progression riff alone just gets me man 😂.
There was an amazing live version of Trip the Light Fantastic uploaded this morning but its been taken down sometime during the day, hopefully it will be put back on soon so you can do a reaction. It was on the same set as the Jimmy Kimmel one so fingers crossed there will be more to come, it would be fantastic if they did one for every song off the album since they can't tour. I'd especially love to hear them do Broken Bells live.
There are strings on this song. Just beautiful.
Love your PR 🇵🇷 shirt, also this has become my favorite song from them. It is truly epic!!
This song has such a James Bond opening theme feel to it. Hope they have that honor someday!
I am usually a studio version person but GVF have cured that for me - their live performances are just mesmerising. And call out to Danny who won best drummer of 2021. They are masters of their instruments and just continue to get better and better. The most exciting band around.
I LOVE GVF and i love the whole album! But to be really honest i just wasn't really digging The Weight Of Dreams :( Until i saw this video! Thanks Mike! I didn't noticed the switching in mixing of the guitar solo too! Now i'm gonna listen back to The Weight Of Dreams and appreciate it a lot more
So good, amazing. A classic album. London UK
Love this song ❤️ my new favorite song right now.
Right ! Loved this as Black Flag and its frocking awesome!
@@cherylkearns7102 yes it is great!
OMG.... GVF "Candlelight Sessions - Broken Bells Live" - with the orchestral instruments being played live! It's beautifully done. Take a look and listen, since you've already reacted to it - i think you'll enjoy it!
My favorite song on the album!
best song on the album. the music, the guitar, the sound jumping from one ear to the other, genius!
this will rock live!😁🤘
It did , boy did it ever
Fantastic song.
Barbarian's is one of my favorite also
8:44 literal chills
Just feel!
Woooo
Prog rock suite !!! 💪💪💪😎🤟 The best!
My guy, you gotta do The Barbarians.
I know there’s probably no demand for this since the new album came out and you already reacted to this but I’d love to see a second reaction to Highway Tune by GVF to see if your thoughts have changed since you now know the band better
Hey Joe! and oh wow! That has never occurred to me.... I actually never reacted to Highway Tune but I have heard it when it first came out years back, and have heard it a time or two since then. I think you're the first person to ask for it! How bout this my friend, if you check out one of these smaller lesser known bands that have some classic rock similarities to GVF, like Dirty Honey, and Rival Sons and give them a chance, then I will do it! And if you heard of them already, then I need to think of another band lol
@@Yeedeed I’m already a big fan of Dirty Honey so I’ll give Rival Sons a shout! Dirty Honey’s first album comes out tomorrow so hopefully looking forward to some reactions on those!
@@joebarczuk5101 WOO HOO! We got ourselves a deal! Hey, full disclosure here, I am only just now getting into Rival Sons, and have reacted to only one song, Feral Roots, but I absolutely love their sound. And dude! I had no idea on the Dirty Honey album dropping. Thank you for telling me!
@@Yeedeed Mike! I checked out some more rival sons and I really like their sound, will definitely be listening to more of them.. I really enjoyed their song shooting stars, might be a good one for a reaction video. Also I found this other modern classic rock band called Goodbye June. You should check out secrets in the sunset by them! Hope all is well, keep up the good work/videos! I really enjoy them and I can tell lots of other people do too
@@joebarczuk5101 Jake played on a song on Goodbye June's new album. I forget which song.
I know I'm super late to this video but I have to say I think its about pirates and not westward expansion in America
🥰🥰🥰🥰
Even better live...😊
There’s another grate new rock band called crown lands that you should definitely check out and if you do then give a listen to end of the road
It's finally on the way brother, sorry for the delays, so many requests so little time!
Some Stone Fury on steroids!

Bro... You seriously stop the music at the WORST possible time. It makes your videos damn near unwatchable cuz the music is so good and you just yank us out of the moment all of a sudden. Wack.
I'm sorry you do not like my stopping Bobby. Every once in awhile I receive a comment like yours, but its rare and most people have given me positive feedback on my reaction style. I am not the kind of reactor who will just sit there, listen to a song and not say a word. I don't like doing all of my commentary at the end when things might fly out of my head and be forgotten by then. There are some reactors out there who will just sit there, listen to the song (maybe talk over the music the entire time, or maybe say nothing at all), and at the end just say "that was cool," and then end the video. I really would suggest if you want to hear the music all the way through, do not watch a reaction video, but rather listen to the actual track which has no interruptions, and support the band with a video view.
Bobby you’re not here to listen to the song you’re here to see his reaction
