2023 Ford Maverick Hybrid - XL to XLT Wheel Upgrade and MPG Test

- XL steelies just scream out to be changed. I found someone selling their takeoff XLT Maverick wheels about an hour and a half away. Good time for a highway MPG test too. The hybrid Maverick got 37MPG on the display driving at 70mph for over an hour. With around 100lbs of XLT aluminum wheels in the bed, the Maverick got about 35MPG coming back at 70mph on Slippery mode.
I don't think slippery mode made any improvement to MPG with cruise control on at 70mph on a flat road. In the morning I swapped over and rebalanced all four wheels. Only one of the wheels needed any weights on the back lip and the stick on weights were around 2 ounces to each. Not bad at all.
I also picked up a set of nice 14x1.50 black 60 degree flare lug nuts to go with these wheels here for about $31. The steelie lug nuts will work, but are open and exposed to elements. Torque is set to 148lb-ft.

I have a little over 3,000 miles on my 2023 Hybrid. I noticed that the break even point for miles per gallon is about 62-63 miles per hour. Above that your mileage will go down and below that you start to gain. If I avoid the four lane highways, I get much more than book figures. As an example I traveled 21 miles not exceeding 55 mph and saw 50.2 mpg, and 11 miles total electric. Another thing I noted was an increase in mpg after passing 2500 miles on the odometer. I guess that was showing me the engine was broke in. I compute the mpg at each fill up and saw a low of 38 and a high of 46.7 mpg. With crude oil prices rising again towards $100 per barrel, I'd say buying this truck was a smart decision.
I also have an xl hybrid 23’. My commute is mixed city and Highway. I’ve been getting low 50’s on average mpg, and hitting 700 miles on a full tank of premium
Mine does great at lower speeds. Highway 65-70mph it does the worst.
I’m xl hybrid built date is October 23 week. I like the original steelies, I will definitely be changing wheels and tires.

I know this is a hybrid but I was pretty impressed with the highway MPG with my 2.0 EB/AWD XLT. 34 ish on a road trip at 70 mph. Obviously around town like going 10 miles roundtrip o work and back it only gets about 19 or so. Wife's 2020 escape hybrid (same drivetrain as a the Maverick) gets in the mid 40s on her 7 mile trip to work.
The hybrid does it's worst mpg at 70+mph. If you do a lot of driving like that, then the EB is a better fit.
What about guarantee wil be no issues with the dealer?
Issues with what? They are factory Ford wheels.

I would need to make a diaper for the chicken first. You don't want to clean up chicken poop out of an interior.
