DIY: Ford Maverick XL - OEM Power Tailgate Lock Install!

- My 2023 Ford Maverick XL didn't come with a power tailgate lock. Fortunately Ford still ran the wiring to the pigtail under the bed next to the bumper and it is easy to wire in.
All you need to do to have a power tailgate lock is get an OEM lock actuator, Part# JB3Z-9943170-A. This is the same tail gate lock as the 2019+ Ford Ranger and costs between $85 - $110. If you buy a new one instead of used from a salvage yard it will not have the connector and you will need to get your own. It is a common pigtail connector found in many different Ford parts, from airbags to washer fluid sensors, so a trip to the salvage yard might get you what you need. It is also significantly cheaper to just run the two new wires with Molex MX150 connectors

A new Ford tailgate harness is $112! The new harness for power tailgate lock is part# NZ6Z-14A412-B or NZ6Z-14A412-C.
The price on all of these parts was less than half in 2022. I'm sure they will keep going up in price.

I would like to thank you for your instructions. I got the materials together and converted my Maverick XL to a power unlocking tailgate. When I bought the truck, I did not consider a manual tailgate a big deal. There's been several situations where having to get out and unlock the tailgate has been more than an inconvenience. Thanks! It's relatively cheap and should have been on every trim. Ford trying to push orders to a more expensive option package to get minimal improvements.

I have a 2023 Maverick hybrid xl. My question is, is it possible to make all 4 windows one touch auto up and down?
I haven't seen anyone do this online yet. I'm not sure what hardware or software is missing.
I have a 2023 XL I would like to add the power tailgate lock to. If I get the lock JB3Z-9943170-A 1X, 2 Molex MX150 connectors and the WPT1314 plus a little wire, I should be good to go. Correct. Also what gauge wire are we talking about?
That's all you need. Wire is standard for a vehicle, 16-18ga is plenty thick.

You can definitely use a factory harness. Adding the pins was significantly cheaper for me.

Doesn't affect any lane assist. The two wires are only for the power lock.
How much time did that take start to finish?
It took me a couple hours, but most of that was setting up cameras.

Yes, a new harness is significantly easier. Harness part number is in the video description.
