Thanks so much for posting this video. After watching I diagnosed code 93 in two minutes with a paper clip, cleaned the switch and cleared the code. Probably saved me $160. Greatly appreciated and I subscribed. Thanks Ktec Garage!
YOU, are a great presenter. Great presentation, guided me right to the problem and was able to clean and repair my system. All for the price of a paperclip and WD-40. Thank you for not sending me to the dealer YET.
I can't thank you enough for making this video. I've had the same thing on my son's 2000 Honda Accord and I kept worrying about how much it was going to cost but this did the trick. I subscribed.
This worked on my 2001 Honda Accord. I've been living with this for about 10 years. I knew how to reset the light but it would always come back after a while. Great video - thanks very much. I subscribed.
Great video. Keep trying. I had my SRS light on my 2001 Honda Accord. I tried cleaning my seatbelts buckles but after opening buckle case the springs and parts went everywhere. Same for pass side. I ended up buying two new Honda buckles at dealership for $250. Ouch. Installed those and then tried the SRS method you shown to jump and the sequence to reset. After trying paper clip and different copper diameter as a jumper, I couldn’t get my SRS light to change or turn off following your exact steps in video to reset. I kept trying and about to give up and finally the SRS light went away one time. Then removed one side of jumper for SRS light to come back on and then could not get it to go off again and then see it blink twice. So kept trying your sequence and holding wire in and finally got it to go through entire sequence and blink twice and disappear for good. Long story short just keep trying and have the diameter of wire to fit in good. Hold one side of jumper tight with finger tip and other side you’ll have to remove for sequence. Finally after years of annoying SRS light on dash it’s gone. Thx for this video
The SRS light has been on about a week on my 2001 Honda Accord. Try to fix it over the weekend. Found your easy to understand and detailed video. I followed exactly the steps you provided and the light is gone now (the code is 9-3). Opening up the plastic case of the buckle took me a little longer than expected. Other than that, everything went smoothly. Thank you for your effort to help us!
I just followed your instructions and cleaned and lubricated the sensor and now, SRS light is gone! Thank you so much! Honda would not cover my sensor issue under the lifetime seat belt warranty, unfortunately, even though the sensor is part of the seat belt buckle assembly lol. You are correct as Honda does not "typically " cover the sensor issue - some people have gotten theirs covered and unfortunately I was not one of those. But, this literally took me 10 minutes and I cleared the code using my scanner, so thanks so much! Much faster than waiting at the dealership for hours!
Thank you very much for taking the time to post this instructional video! I needed to sell the car and it's mandatory the SRS sensors are in proper working order for the safety certificate. The cost in Canada is around $450 for the part and the cost of labor to install. With your video I was able to correct the issue in about 15 minutes on a 2005 Honda Civic at no cost! Thanks again!
Thanks friend. My SRS light is driving me insane and I know it's not supposed to happen but deep down a little bit scary because I feel like that the airbag is going to come out at any time while I'm driving or not work at all if I get into a car accident so thank you I really appreciate this video.
THANK YOY! For this video, I had that stupid SRS light for over two years, and thanks to you, I finally got rid of it. The first video shows you how to read the default code in a Honda. I even bought a blue obd2 scanner that didn't work (send back the stupid thing). Thank you again.
Some of the cheaper ob2 scanners can read the SRS module but none of my cheap ones can. Kind of hit and miss I suppose. I'm very glad to hear the video helped you out. Thank you for taking a minute to comment!
IIt worked like a charm. I had a code 93. Problem solved, I already had all the tools i needed. It's amazing how a gunked up buckle can cause such an annoying problem
I just checked my code and I got a 93 and 91 ........ im gonna clean both seat belts and reset and hope that takes care of it! thanks so much for the great video!
Thank you so much!! It worked perfectly on my 2000 Honda Accord DX. I got a code 93, but the micro switch actually works fine (the light turns off every time I buckle), so I just reset the SRS light by shorting/opening the circuit on the yellow connector with 2 green wires.
My light came back on. So my female Receptacles needed to be replaced. Still, thank you for the notes and knowledge that taught me how to fix this even though my fix wasn’t the same as yours.
Thanks. Will try tomorrow. Just to be sure you say 5 and 9. Brown to brown. In my paranoia I see some are saying 4 to 9. Brown and black. Def don’t want to fry it. Thanks again.
Have an 02 accord with the exact same codes and issue. On this car the codes and reset can be accomplished by using my little cheap handheld scantool. Perhaps on the older hondas this method is not possible, don't really know. Anyway, Great Vid!
Great video, I happened to have an accord that i used this on and it worked. Now I have a 2003 Acura CL with manual transmission, but the diagnosis didn't work. Do you have a way to do this for that car?
Hi I enjoy watching your informative videos. On that note....I have an issue with newly purchased 2001 Honda Accord EX. It seems the passenger seat side airbag had deployed during the first (and only) owner. They claim it was not in an accident, and there is no sign of one. This could occur from other issues like bumpy roads, etc. My question is - If I use a resistor on the airbag harness, and the light turns off, is it because the resistor "tricks" the module to think the side airbag is still in- and will the other srs airbags will function normally in an accident?. Or, does the light just turn off and I'm screwed ? Thanks
Thanks for this helpful information. I have a question maybe you can answer. When doing the jumper test, we get 4 fast flickers . Then it goes to 3 slower flickers pause for 2 seconds then 1 more faster flicker. The question is, why do I get the initial 4 very fast flickers. The whole thing does repeat with no changes.
That doesn't sound right. It should be slow followed by fast. Are you sure it's not a 1-4 followed by a 3-1? 1-4 short circuited To 12 volt power or VSS. Driver's Inflatable Air Bag Module 3-1 & 3-2 open circuited Or high Resistance In Driver's Seat Belt Pretensioner (Explosive Device)
Thank You Really self explanatory ❤ I’m trying this tomorrow I need my smog done & they won’t with these lights on in California 🤦🏻♂️ other state’s aren’t as by the book like California 😂
Thanks for this! Quick question though. Mine doesn't repeat the code. I have a 2002 Accord 4Cyl. I get 9-3 then solid. Does that mean I just have the seat buckle to clean?
My srs light in my 97 accord has been on ever since a shorted battery fried a ton of electronics in my car. I hope this method will help me figure it out.
Hola buenas tardea o noche cambie la bomba pero no tengo presion de diesel, segui el video tal cual y no hay presion saldria defectosa la bomba o que recomienda aser muchas gracias (travieso) servidor
On my 2004 Honda Element this procedure blows the 10 amp fuse in the under the hood fuse box, fuse #9 labeled "backup" in the owners manual, but your car stereo and power locks will not work without it. I would have been okay with blowing the fuse if it actually worked to give me the SRS codes, but it did not. Hope this helps someone else with a Honda Element.
When I purchased the car, it had 160k, but the engine was replaced with one that had around 100k. I put most of those 318k on it, but the engine has been rebuilt (check out my other videos) Going to see if I can get half a million out of it! No real reason why I shouldnt. I know about every bolt on it now. Thanks for commenting and good luck with yours.
Thanks for advice. I have same problem but my solution was to simply stick a small piece of black duct tape on plastic to block my view. Much simplier but now the duct tape needs replaced….worked 15 years though.
I would imagine it would blow a fuse before it damaged the computer. I'd check those first and see if it tripped a check engine code that could point you in the right direction.
Probably blow a fuse or damage the ecm. This worked perfectly on my 2000 4cyl Accord. If you have anything different, hunt down the pin info for your specific platform. Tons of online forums with folks that are way smarter than me.
It depends on the scan tool. It may need to use Mercedes OBD2 software to actually clear the codes, even though it's reading the generic data. I don't think SRS data would be generic, but I could be wrong. Did the scan tool auto recognize the car and VIN?
Mine did not come on like that, after the first pause it’s like it flashes 4 or 5 times real fast then starts the slow count. After getting a 9-3 code it just stays on and doesn’t count anymore.
I don't know. This is specifically for the 98-02 Accord. I'd check some of the online forums for your platform before I started shorting wires together. Good luck
Aye bro, I have the same problem with my 2000 accord. However, I see your car has over 300,000 miles on it. I just wanted to know what you put into the car (part wise) to get that many miles. I have the same car and I have been putting a ton of money into my accord and the last thing I'm dealing with is the belt buckle system. I'm wanting to know if it's worth it to continue to put money into the car or should I just unload it.
I have a whole series up rebuilding the engine. With the right tools you can do it for under 1k. With today's used car prices, it really makes it worth it. Car runs like new.
If you have a volt meter, can you see if the battery is showing 14 volts when it's running? If not, your alternator could be bad. All those lights make me think also that you have a bad ground somewhere or the PCM failed.
Hard to say without at least checking it for DTCs. If you have access to a decent code reader, check it for stored codes and the freeze frame data. Good luck!
2003 Acura for sale…$4000 with 203000kms. SRS light on but dealership claims it’s no big deal. I said fix it and I’ll buy it. They won’t. He says it’s the seat belts. But never did a scan. 😂
THANK YOU. VERY EASY TO FOLLOW. JUST ONE BIT OF ADVICE. THE SEAT BELT COVERS HAVE PLASTIC PINS, PUSH THE PINS IN, THE COVER RELEASES EASILY.

Great video, I happened to have an accord that i used this on and it worked. Now I have a 2003 Acura CL with manual transmission, but the diagnosis didn't work. Do you have a way to do this for that car?
A decent OBDII scan tool should read the airbag module. Could probably get Autozone or similar to get you the DTC.
Actually just did it again and I had the 5 and 1 terminals switched, got a 94 code. Gonna clean out the seat belt clip tomorrow! Thanks again dude!
Ok 👌 nice. Question what about the brake light next to it
I had the parking brake set! I think there may have been a burned out bulb when I did that video. I don't think it caused the brake light to come on.

I would think that if the srs light was not on that the airbag would deploy.
great helpful video, thanks man.

Let us how it works out.
Will the paperclip trick work on a 2006 c280 srs light
I wouldn't do that exact procedure on anything other than that generation accord. Could short something out it it wasn't set up the same.
Wonder if this would work on a 2013 Civic LX. 🤔
Great video. THANKS A LOT!
You are very welcome! Thank you for taking a moment to comment.
can't disconnect the MES connector looks like a special tool is needed to depress the locking ears to allow connector to pull awaw. any ideas?
Is this the same procedure for a 2004 Honda Odyssey ?
I wouldn't recommend trying this on anything other than this Gen accord.
Pls what is the meaning of C0308 for Honda Civic 2000 model

I would have been okay with blowing the fuse if it actually worked to give me the SRS codes, but it did not. Hope this helps someone else with a Honda Element.
Could u sir or someone pls lmk if the obd2 reader I bought will clear an SRS light
If it can read the srs module then it should clear it too. If the one you have can only do the generic data, then probably not.
@@ktecgarage hey brother it says it can diagnose srs
Can I use compressed air and carb cleaner to do this process?
I don't see any reason not to. The electric parts cleaner is specific for this, but carb cleaner, WD-40, etc shouldn't hurt anything. Good luck!
@@ktecgarage Cool thanks!
How did you fixed brake light? Is it gone when you are resetting srs light ?
It was a separate issue. The brake bulb had come loose in the socket. That light comes in when brake bulb burns out.
Are the pins always the same number or is it different depending on the vehicle?
That procedure is for the 1998-2002 Accords only. I wouldn't try on anything else.
You think it’s a good idea to get a 02 Honda ? With 175k miles on it?
I would so long as the transmission is shifting correctly. If it's a manual, the buying it is a no brainer!
Awesome Video bro! Keep it up! Thank you

I did the same, ended up doing it backwards. Checked all the fuses, none are blown, car will crank good but won't turn over. Please help!!
Check under your hood for the ACGS Fuse, I checked on mine and it was surely blown, replaced now and it's fixed!

If you have a volt meter, can you see if the battery is showing 14 volts when it's running? If not, your alternator could be bad. All those lights make me think also that you have a bad ground somewhere or the PCM failed.
My srs light stays solid and doesn’t move. However my abs and engine light flash in intervals. Any ideas?
Hard to say without at least checking it for DTCs. If you have access to a decent code reader, check it for stored codes and the freeze frame data. Good luck!

2003 Acura for sale…$4000 with 203000kms. SRS light on but dealership claims it’s no big deal. I said fix it and I’ll buy it. They won’t. He says it’s the seat belts. But never did a scan. 😂

Anyone have an idea what an ignition squib is
It's a bad airbag. The squib is what ignites the propellant to expand the bag. It's built into it.
I have the same 6th gen accord. Mines an 01 Accord EX Sedan with a 5 speed manual transmission, I see yours is also manual 👀
Got the same year and model in a manual too, just bought it!
So I got a 10-1 what’s that mean exactly. Also my ABS blinked 1-6 then 6-1
Great video btw
