One of the most underrated cover songs of all time IMO. They completely make it their own, while keeping a lot of the same general themes and concepts. But this sounds even more depressing and sad.
What makes even sadder to me, is that a girl that I fell in love with, showed me this version, and plot twist, the music was exactly our story. It ended as it started, with a Careless whisper
This song is one of my favorites. Seether is rock/metal band from South Africa. They have a ton of great songs. Definitely worth checking out the rest of their stuff.
@@StevieDrawStuff Because I said Dad metal it is now Gatekeeping? You just named a bunch of other Metal Genre's so you're aware they exist. Growing up on 80s thrash would explain why you like Dad Metal. Go be mad somewhere else weirdo.
The original broken is better. He originally wrote it for his daughter that he left back in South Africa when they came to America. Having Amy lee on the track changed the meaning and ruined it in my opinion.
In my defense, the Amy Lee version had a large impact on my life at the time so it's the version I lean towards. Glad we have plenty of Seether fans to offer recommendations for LBoyd
wouldnt go that far but it is amazing, johnny cash-hurt, shinedown-simple man, disturbed- the sound of silence, few i personally put ahead out of recent one in the last 20 years. its up there though
Both versions have great meaning to me. George Michael's original was the first song I danced to with my soulmate. We dated for 8 years, through HS, and got engaged on the 8th year anniversary of our first kiss. 6 months later, she passed away (1993). Fast forward to 2009, I'm divorced, and take my 2 kids to their very first concert, Nickelback. Seether was one of the opening acts, and they played this. I had no idea any band had redone this song. Life is weird, but I love it.
Seether has been my favorite band for well over a decade now. It’s hard to say where to start since almost every song of their’s is fantastic, but “Rise Above This”, “Don’t Believe”, “Tongue”, “Waste”, and “Walk Away From The Sun” are some underrated gems to try!
Seether has been my favorite band for many, MANY years. This cover is phenomenal, but my favorite cover they've done, by FAR, is their cover of Frank Sinatra's I've Got You Under My Skin.
I love that oneee!! I feel like not many people know it but guess that makes it a hidden gem for those that dug through the works of the band to cherish
Seether is one of those bands that.. they don't really have any songs that are absolute top tier amazing, but at the same time.. literally everything they put out is good enough to the point they are generally just better than most bands imo. They know how to make something sound good, even if it isn't a masterpiece.
My favorite band! I’ve seen him 25 times so far and still counting 💛 This was one of the best covers ever, overall such an underrated band they’re just amazing
Personally I dont think seether has any bad music. They have a seductive and intense sound. I really enjoy, if you're up for a 6+ minute ride, "no jesus christ". Its a great song for warmups/stretches before a workout. Most of their music is great to work out to actually
Seether is a powerhouse that's waaaay under appreciated. I've never had them playing and not had a smile on or if I have passengers a head staying still.
I haven’t seen you get this excited in awhile over a song lol love it one of my favorites from them fine again is also a great one to check out or the remedy
and yes, you HAVE TO listen to more seether, they are sooo good and really never got the exposure they deserve. They are still putting out new music too!
“Forsaken” is a great song by these guys. You get the melancholy of Shaun’s voice interposed with a pretty aggressive breakdown. Highlights a few of the band’s key elements very well imo.
Seether is a great band! I highly recommend Rise Above This, especially with the story behind the song. Broken with Amy Lee is amazing as well. Lot of emotion in both of those songs!
this is for me ,by far ,the best cover song of ALL TIME! this is my shit I still listen to this often. It's so perfect you forget it was an 80s pop/club song.
I love this cover they did. Seether is a bit underrated and have a few really good songs. Remedy, Fine Again, and Broken would be what I would reccomend from them.
Mr. Boyd I could just see just a few seconds in that you were loving this cover! SEETHER absolutely turned an already very well done song on its head when they got the green light to put their spin on it! They made it their own in my opinion and churned out a MASTERPIECE!!! GREAT REACTION MR. BOYD LOVE YOUR CHANNEL!!
Seether trac, Broken featuring the beautiful Amy Lee lead singer from evanescence do the video after you find watch the live version if you can find a live version
You said you were curious what THEY sound like.... thats the amazing thing about this cover, it's both very faithful to the original, and is also 100% Seether.
I’ll actually get to see them for the first time at rocklahoma this year luckily rocklahoma is a hour away from me, I’ve listen to them for years and wanted to see them. I listen to them a lot.
One of my all time favorite covers… tbh I’ve listened to seether for many years and their song Broken with Amy Lee is absolutely one of the greatest songs to be written.
What I love about covers like this one Leo's cover of Africa, is how immediately identifiable they are. The second you hear that first chord you know you know the song that is coming! To me is the mark of a truly great song. If it can be translated into different genres of music or languages and still have the same familiarity it is simply amazing. Great reaction, as always, sir!
Interesting fact that might spin up a video idea for you.... Shaun Morgan (the lead singer of Seether) and Amy Lee (From Evanescence) dated for a short time, and after the breakup Amy Lee put out a song called " Call me when you're sober " and Shaun replied with " Fine Again " and dude, that is by far one of my favorite songs by them. My Mother introduced me to them and I still listen to them over 15 years later. They also have a song called " Save Today " that was a little out of their normal. I would recommend that as well. You'll find a lot of emotion in their music and the writing can be very fruitful. For a band inspired by Nirvana, they have come a very long way.
Having seen Seether live some seven times now I can say they are a highly underrated band. Shaun Morgan is one of the best vocalists in Rock. And that’s an opinion I won’t be swayed on.
One of the most underrated cover songs of all time IMO. They completely make it their own, while keeping a lot of the same general themes and concepts. But this sounds even more depressing and sad.

Completely agree.
This and No Quarter by Tool.
Agreed. They´ve made it their own. This is definitely Seether style.
Agree
This cover and shinedowns cover of a simple man
Anything Seether puts out as gold. I've watched them live four times.
They are number one on my concert bucket list
I was fortunate enough to see them Live at The Brandon Amphitheater one of the best Live experiences of my life!!!
SEETHER 🤘 🤘 🤘
This song is one of my favorites. Seether is rock/metal band from South Africa. They have a ton of great songs. Definitely worth checking out the rest of their stuff.
That's where I stay. Shaun and I went to the same school ha ha.
Seether is an extremely underrated band.
Dad metal*
@@bmix1017 Gatekeep much? I love Seether but I also love heavy ass death metal, industrial, grew up on 80s thrash. Whatever, Dad metal.
@@StevieDrawStuff Because I said Dad metal it is now Gatekeeping? You just named a bunch of other Metal Genre's so you're aware they exist. Growing up on 80s thrash would explain why you like Dad Metal. Go be mad somewhere else weirdo.
They have plenty of great songs but Broken ft. Amy Lee is one of the best and it would be great to have your reaction
The original broken is better. He originally wrote it for his daughter that he left back in South Africa when they came to America. Having Amy lee on the track changed the meaning and ruined it in my opinion.
The OG is so much better. The Amy lee one is overrated to the max.... its sad actually that most people do not listen to the old one.
@@jacencastillo6003 exactly my thoughts.
The original is so much better. Please do the one without Amy lee.
In my defense, the Amy Lee version had a large impact on my life at the time so it's the version I lean towards. Glad we have plenty of Seether fans to offer recommendations for LBoyd
"Words as weapons" is another Seether Favorite of mine.
That song is amazing
Arguably the best cover song of any song ever. Seether is way too under appreciated.

Holy Diver by Killswitch Engage
@@seancasey535 not even close
@@seancasey535 That cover was terrible, honestly felt like a disrespect to Dio
Sound of Silence by Disturbed would like a word with you, that and the man who sold the world

Seether has been my favorite band for well over a decade now. It’s hard to say where to start since almost every song of their’s is fantastic, but “Rise Above This”, “Don’t Believe”, “Tongue”, “Waste”, and “Walk Away From The Sun” are some underrated gems to try!
YES. An underrated band, with only a few songs acknowledged

Seether has lots of great songs but Driven Under is probably my favorite.
Seether is a powerhouse that's waaaay under appreciated. I've never had them playing and not had a smile on or if I have passengers a head staying still.
One of the best covers in my book, on par with Hurt by Cash and I will Always Love You by Whitney Houston.
