Bill Burr is so successful because he finds so many references that everyone can relate to. He hits the nail right on the head. His observations are so right on the mark. He has his male female relationship issues and black and white relationship issue problems into sharp focus in his signature Bill Barr way. And he revels at the awkwardness of his fans and laughs at the uneasiness of talking about sensitive issues. The funny thing to me is that I kind of bought into all the negative press as i started broadening my horizons. What I found in my experiences of moving across the river from Detroit was that if you just be yourself people of any stripe will be more likely to accept me. Phoniness doesn’t fly with most people.

I remember me, my mom, and stepdad, all went out to Applebee's one afternoon. Is was raining hard and there was this Mexican family at the entrance waiting to be seated, standing in line, but we ran through and got soaked and this 7 or 8 year old Mexican girl asked her mom in Spanish, "Why do white people smell like dogs?"
I saw her mom look back at us nervously as she grabbed her daughter's shoulder and pulled her closer but I was already laughing my ass off because I know Spanish while my mom and stepdad were confused. Her mom started apologizing in Spanish but I told them, in Spanish, "Probably because we have three dogs, two of which loves to snuggle into the laundry when it's warm and fresh out the dryer."

Having grown up as color blind as a white kid from Iowa can be (Iowa is 91% Caucasian) it wasn't until I enlisted in the Army at 17 that I learned that skin and hair care for other skin tones is very different from what my Scandinavian-decent butt knew. First time I smelled Magic Shaving Powder in the latrine at Basic Training was a cultural eye opener. I never knew black men could have razor burn issues from using razors. Fortunately a buddy explained it to me when I asked him what the F he was doing. 😉. If everyone had to join the military after highschool, we could seriously reduce racism in this country. All I see now is Army Green of my brothers I served with.

Just rumorously saying combining things is very difficult to say. You grew up color blind in a 91%, one color state or which means? Also it could have been a 98% white town. Just adding it's difficult to understand sweetness if you are never allowed to eat desserts all your life. Meaning you have no experience to know about sugars and sweetness. 91 90% something you don't have any experience. You only know what's normal to use so I was just saying I don't think the two are synonymous, If I came from a 95% African American town for me to say I'm color blind. I have no experience with people of another ethnicity. I'm not color blind, I'm just without experience

@@jarrods372 Exactly. I find that people who hold absolute positions on non absolute topics to be very annoying. Some hold their faith in a way that they feel they can force it on others, and then you have the other side that taunt religious people for their faith. Faith is defined as belief in the absence of evidence. It is a feeling, a very personal feeling. There is no rational reason to force God on people, and there is no rational reason to mock those who do believe. While I do not subscribe to a religious movement, I do find joy in just having a relationship with what I think is God. No explanation. I was a non believer until I was 23 or something like that, and then I just did believe. Dunno why and don't really care to. It brings me joy and I never impose my belief on anyone. So at worst I am wrong but feeling more fulfilled. Which in logical terms simply increased the joy experienced in the world at no cost to anyone.

I honestly can't stand the way people use the word ignorant these days. Somewhere in the time since I was a kid in the 80s, that words definition was changed in pop culture. Ignorant, the way I learned it as a kid meant to ignore what you're told. You can be told one thing, proven that it's a fact, and then say no, that's wrong, I want to believe this other thing that you've proven is wrong. That is ignorance.
The way people use the word these days, ignorant has the exact same definition as naive. If that's the case then why do both words exist? They need to mean something different from one another or else why have them? Naive means to not know something, ignorant means to ignore what you're told, but don't google that because that's not what the words mean anymore. And clearly this isn't a case of how language 'evolves' because this is a clearcut case of it devolving. The word ignorant used to have a unique definition, and now it doesn't, that's a de-evolution of language.
That said, "Racism is when you fill naivety with a bunch of dumb shit." Ignorance is when people continue to believe that dumb shit even after being shown how wrong what they believe really is.

I won’t get into the politics, because I believe that every race was created equally, however the injustices, especially in the US, have not been equal. Really it’s about power and numbers.

The thing about human nature and smells.... see, the first black person I met when I moved to America was my shop teacher. He always smelled like sawdust. And now, even though no one smells like wood in my friend group, who is mostly black, that animal part of my brain that focuses on relations between things makes me want to go hang out at home depot. To the point it sometimes becomes a problem.
"Like, yo. Leprechaun. Man sit the F down and hit this blunt. Stop trying to laser-level my granny's cabinets."
And I honestly never realized it until one day, hanging at a white friend's house, which seemed to be held together with dirt and duct tape. I had *zero* handyman urges.
All because of how my shop teacher smelled.
I'm not sure thats rac *ist* but it's definitely rac *ial.*
Cuz I'll let sh*t go at my house, even with family dropping by. But as soon as one of my black friend's says they're coming over, I'm staring at my slightly wobbly ceiling fan and trying to remember where I put the screwdriver.
All because the first black guy I knew was strict, smelled like sawdust and metal, always wanted me working, and praised my work.
And now, I'm stuck like that.
I'm used to the leprechaun jokes, because of my accent, and to me, black people are dwarves. So I gotta respect the forge.

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Ghandi, Lincoln, and Caesar Chavez, those who fought against slavery, segregation and racism. Children are not born racist, they are taught it and/or learn it from friends and family. Now more than ever we know of the many great people of every race, religion, and class throughout history and thus should know better than to judge a book by its cover. It is the words and mostly the actions one takes that should be judged, not their looks. Second the debates were some of the most publicized up to that point and reached national attention. Lincoln was not perfect. Knowing these debates were to sway the vote of the IL legislature whose vote determine the winner, Lincoln did say he was not in favor of equality. Fredrick Douglass(two s) was very critical of Lincoln during his presidency for this especially with regard to unequal pay of colored soldiers, and prisoner treatment. However, Lincoln said about Fredrick Douglass "“There is no man in the country whose opinion I value more than yours.” Frederick Douglass himself later said that Lincoln "“was emphatically the black man’s President: the first to show any respect to their rights as men.” This was said by Douglass at Lincoln's eulogy, after Lincoln did the cowardly thing of getting assassinated.

I used to teach at a predominantly minority school (I’m white). The kids loved me and I loved them, but I could always tell when they showed “Roots” in the history class. They would come in my room and glare for a while. It because a joke and I would just ask “Roots?” They would just nod and glare. One of them said “we’ll get over it soon but we don’t like you now” 😂😂 They were always better after a day or two. Miss those kids.

As the son of two Danish missionary workers I grew up in central africa for a number of years... So I can somewhat relate to the whole going to save the ghetto story.... my parents, especially my mom, has spent a big part of their lives working on projects intended to better the daily lives of poor african people... I guess what I am trying to say is that those ppl do exist. Two of them gave me life...

Yes, exactly, have a conversation. That is our (as a society) problem. We need to realize that we do see color and should recognize that there are differences in cultures. However, we should all treat each other with respect because we can all learn from one another.
Much respect to you sir, keep up the great videos.

Right!?! I was thinking, have I ever said that before “I’m not racist-but…” then I realized I’d never say that cos I kinda am.
Ok, no I’m *really not* but still... People in general reject what’s unfamiliar; other classes, races, ages, you get my point, are all different than ourselves, meaning no obvious similarities, meaning no obvious commonalities. It’s inherent to gravitate towards familiarity.

Thanks for the part where you say you would hear someone out. I had some "friends" who are teachers. I asked them about Juneteenth because who better to ask than educators...
It was one of the worst conversations I ever witnessed. I just wanted to learn something. I was told I was so racist I didn't even know it. Like wtf?
They told me I was "playing dumb". About two seconds after all that nonsense I saw like half the country asking the same questions. Apparently, many of us didn't know what it was.
Needless to say, I don't entertain those people and their offended ways any longer.
Watching your video and hearing you say that was on point with me sir. I appreciate you.

You know how to do proper reactions. You have the perfect Ballance of pausing to speak a bit more in depth and let the video play. A lot of reaction channels either don't talk at all or never shut up.
Also your audio quality is god tier. I have sensory issues and alot of videos have really harsh audio making it hard to listen. Your audio is smooth as hell.
