To show an aspect of this humbleness, Eminem asked his manager if it made sense to buy a Rolex as he saw one that he liked and he didn't know if he could afford it. The manager responded "it really depends on the cost really" as a joke. Eminem showed him one for 10k and asked if it was too expensive. I couldn't believe he didn't catch that JJ Fad Supersonic reference. Hell, I'm in my 50's and caught that (Yes, I've been a fan of rap a LONG time, since a teenager in high school)
The Supersonic was a direct reference to the 80s female group JJ Fad who's top song was "Supersonic". She does this verse at the end rapping super fast and it starts with "I'm soma luma tomma luma...." Just like he did. This dude is a real child of Hip Hop.
People think that by rapping fast he portrayed that he is rap God while the real reason is the technicalities of this song.. Same with Godzilla , improved in both the segments 🐐
I've been a fan of Em and a student of the rap game all my life yet here I am, feeling so dumb for never catching that "trip a broad" line...that's the magic of rap and Em specifically, you always catch something new
His references are also insane. He literally watches obscure stuff from random points. This video focuses on the Max Hedroom incident but he has pulled references from a 3 episode series that was canceled from the 60s, a random reference to a movie from the 80s, and a call back to a movie from the 40s. I would not want to verse him in any cultural trivia game.
"The only Hall of Fame I'll be inducted in is the alcohol of fame" - I love this verse for so many reasons but mostly because Em was just inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2022. If you haven't watched the video of his entire set and his speech from the induction I highly recommend checking it out.
Oooohhh this is gonna be a good one 😍😍😂😂🙏🙏 I was 17 when The Slim Shady Lp came out. That album opened up a whole new world for me. I’d say yes in terms of how much he can flip the words and reverse the meanings and stretch the syllables with phrases etc it’s craZily intelligent. I respect him so much for his wordplay
Only bad thing about this song is that it overshadowed the rest of the album which in my opinion, is one of his best with songs like Bad Guy, Asshole, Berzerk, Evil Twin, Desperation, Wicked Ways, etc
That's why this song is so brilliant. It's the cadences. It's how different it is. Imo it's a work of art. Not because of the speed that everybody talks about. Which is insane I agree. But that's not why I think this is an unbelievable song

I couldn't believe he didn't catch that JJ Fad Supersonic reference. Hell, I'm in my 50's and caught that (Yes, I've been a fan of rap a LONG time, since a teenager in high school)
@@ChipW respect I’m only 16 but my mom knew were rap was going and didn’t want me listening to shitty mumble rap
Jj fad and were here to rock! Supersonic!
Same with Godzilla , improved in both the segments
🐐
I'm danish and my dad is a rock guitarist, so that was pretty much my music back then. Em was the first artist I discovered on my own and every single time he comes out with a new album, I go back to being 17. And I don't even like hiphop 😂😂 But I love talent 🥰
I love his "inadvertently hurting you" line. Like "I'm so good nobody looks good by comparison".
You'll hear others say Godzilla is even faster, and while this is true, lyrically wise, rap god has it beat.
I’d say yes in terms of how much he can flip the words and reverse the meanings and stretch the syllables with phrases etc it’s craZily intelligent. I respect him so much for his wordplay
Rap god has way to many stupid references in it about people talking trash about him at the time. It ruins it for some parts
Dude is so clean hearing with his rapping no matter what!!!!!
I specifically like this specific content 👍
do you know what ocean is on the west coast.....?
it's Pacific.
Only bad thing about this song is that it overshadowed the rest of the album which in my opinion, is one of his best with songs like Bad Guy, Asshole, Berzerk, Evil Twin, Desperation, Wicked Ways, etc
Wicked ways is definitely underrated amd one of my favorite songs
the sheer volume is crazy.. No heavy breathing .. Words all legible.
Love how you catch most things in the song, where as it goes over the heads of most reaction channels. Great work.
It’s because it’s not legit. Dude has heard rap god before and likely has heard it hundreds of times. Fake.
That's why this song is so brilliant. It's the cadences. It's how different it is. Imo it's a work of art. Not because of the speed that everybody talks about. Which is insane I agree. But that's not why I think this is an unbelievable song
This is exactly the type of content I rabbit-hole with. Like academic, thoughtful breakdowns of hiphop. Studious understanding. Heavy context.
Listen to his reactions to Aesop Rock. You need a literary professor holding your hand the first time you really take apart Aes's work
@@mattmanlooloo Word. Literary Joyce, Wilde, Blake, Homer, Yeats, etc etc et al. I'm with that double take - rewind - listen again 'til they plant type bars.
The “Supersonic” was in reference to JJ FAD. Old school girl group that rapped fast on the song.
I was looking for this comment 👌
Me too
Dude, this was my favorite reaction of yours! This song proves MM is on the Mt. Rushmore of all time rappers, along with 2 Pac, Snoop, and Cube. Shout out to RUN and Beasties, but giving props to the solo artists
Subbed within 2 minutes of this video. Love how you clearly understand lyrics that others skip over because it's too fast for them to think but you seem to be catching them all. Very cool bro. Can't wait to check out more of your vids!
These "First time hearing" reactors must've grown up living under a rock or something.
right!
He’s lived in Spain/Europe for many years. Stopped following US music and culture.
Lol I watch a first time movie reactor. Dude is reacting to some
Of the biggest movies for the first time. Terminator, alien, fast and furious godfather, just every big movie. He claims he has never seen before. Meanwhile, this idiot does his reactions in front of a wall of about 2000 dvds, maybe more. Nobody with that many dvds never seen terminator before. These first time reactors are all BS.
Dude says in every Em video he knows his old stuff, not the new.
@HaZe FiT 89 not everyone is interested in music that much. You can be anywhere in the world and still listen music to any countries but they're people who don't really give a shit about listening to music. You can say "rap god" didn't go to the reactor's recommend since he doesn't listen to Eminem
Eminem can say this because he is the rap god.
Is anyone else seeing "This content is not available in your country due to a legal complaint from the government" in the corner where the music video is? I am guessing they claimed a copy right and so you had to overlay it to hide the video but I am not seeing anyone else asking about the weird overlay seeing as you can still see the video behind it.
Ya
Same -- luckily they didn't strip the audio
It's just an edit he made lol
Yes I see it.
Eminem is the best ever
The fact that you can still see the music video xD
The first time I heard this, my head fell off when he hit that JJ Fad part.
The "So gay you can barely say it with a straight face" line gets over looked a lot. Probably one of my favorites.
“I make elevated music you make elevator music”
Not even that good of a bar. Proves how overrated he is
@@bfcclarets4694 It’s not a bar at all it’s just funny
Not really funny either unless u have shit banter
I though it was: i make "elevate her" music you make elevator music
@@brookedavis5950 probably did i never seen the lyrics
Killer channel. Great take and great video my friend!
7:53-8:00
The reaction he had to that verse has to be what everyone did when they first heard this song
I just found your channel but I love your reaction style. You seem so well spoken and informed on the topic, plus your reactions aren't over the top. Subscribed and looking forward to watching your other videos.
Eminem is just above it at this point. I remember his underground shit before MTV!
Best line: “I bully myself cause I make me do what I put my mind to”
Kendrick Lamar's "How much a dollar cost"It's of the best songs ever definitely want to listen to that one.
Much move bro lucky to see you reacting to this song
None of my friends understand how I love this guy! I'm not generally a rap/hip hop fan, but Mathers has absolute credit... street, talent and one of the fastest brain/mouth connections ever. Brilliant writer and performer.
In the 90’s, everybody used to love him no matter what kind of music they preferred. I used to hate rap but I was still buying Eminem’s albums.
“We don’t have to use words like that...”
The name of the song is rap god. By Eminem. Lol
I think he does...😂
He's always showing respect to the greats that influenced him, it's so awesome to hear IMO
6:38 notice he paid homage to JJ FAD's song Supersonic by using their flow, but took it to another level. Em's legit a student of Hip-Hop.
I just realized he said "But for me to rap like a computer It must be in my genes I got a laptop in my back pocket" and the computer is literally in his jeans. Genius
This song is a challenge to every single rapper in the game. He’s doing every single rap cadence and flow in rap. That’s why it’s “rap god” basically saying : I dare you to not say I’m a rap God, let see how that goes. No one responded tho.
Truth! If anyone has a any shot, it’d be Joyner, but...man...Marshall is a legend
@@williamallen7984 Joyner? Lmao
Don't know if anyone else has said this but he is impersonating Max Headroom when he has the yellow hair. Max is known for being a computer program back in the 80' or 90's. So him saying I got a laptop in my back pocket is also saying he has a computer on his person but the person is also in the computer. ( A.I. ) or the computer itself.
You gotta be at least my age or a history buff of MTV! I grew up watching MTV, running home from school to catch the top ten, yo MTV raps , and of course, late night head banging! How far we've come, yet how far we've fallen.
Do you remember when they used the max on back to the future? Lol, people are no fun anymore, I wonder if kids these days know how hard their parents partied, Gen x was crazy and fun as hell
@@beentheredonethat5908 Yo! Hell yeah back then was fun! MTV, Yo! MTV raps, BET and Rap city were a big part of my childhood. I am 45 now but I still remember when Dire straits dropped "Money for Nothing " on MTV. It was one of the first videos to premiere on there and one of the first videos to use computer like graphics.
Great to meet you family, take care.
Headbangers Ball was my shit!!!
@@derekfletcher8934 That shit was awesome bro!
@@BBroadnax yes sir. I was too young for the original incantation with Ricky Rachman. But when Jamie Jasta brought it back in the early 2000s I had already been doing my homework and was so excited to see it come back to life.
All hail metal \m/
I love this guy's breakdowns. My favorite is Pneuma.
I enjoy your vibe and commentary.....God bless.......
I have no idea how it's possible for a person to not have heard this song....thats suuuuper hard to believe.
First time I've heard it, today
I use the word immediately with my kids so much more now thanks to you.
OMG! Your face is priceless! Love ya'! :'D G.O.A.T. forever!
Edit: You're goood! Keep it up! Thumbs up!
Never apologize for a fan blowing. I like your content. Of course I value your comfort. Thanks!
That dumbfounded look from the supersonic rap is priceless.
6:33 yeah, can feel it
I too can’t believe this is his first time hearing Rap God. Every Real Hip Hop Head in Nigeria(West Africa) knows this Song! Trust me. You may not like it but you must have heard it playing or showing somewhere.
Agreed! That's like saying you never heard Thriller from Michael Jackson! C'mon....I agree with you dude.
Specifically just YES!!
🖤🖤🖤
Edit: most underrated and missed bar:
“Lyrics coming at you with supersonic speed (JJ Fab)”…
**JJ Fab was a female group back in the day and a hit(?) song of theirs was called “Supersonic”.
🖤🖤🖤
Its "Fad", not Fab. And him saying supersonic has nothing to do with JJ Fad at all
yes it was a hit (source, I am old)
@@AbsoluteApril
I’m old too…just put the (?) after because my brain couldn’t remember the year, decade, era, etc. at the immediately specific moment!!
🤣🤣🤣
@@RavennaBlack :D
@@TooRealForMost it is Fad but of course he is referencing their hit Supersonic, He even says the "A sama lama lama lama doo ma nama seema nama" line from the fast part
The Max Headroom theme cracks me up and makes me wonder how many people watching the video actually know what he's referencing here.
"rappers are having a rough time period, here's a maxi-pad." I never noticed this pun before. So many hidden things in this you have to go lyric by lyric
I have to say i appreciated how much MrLBoyd here understood many of the references in the lyrics. A lot of rap history in this too.
We would love to see some KAAN on the channel. There's got to be some of his stuff you haven't heard.
Em is the only person that can rap that fast but you can still understand all of the words. 🐐
Nf
I just stopped to say I really appreciate your content. All stereotypes aside, I'm the whitest dude there is but I really pick up on a few artists. I play music so I know things but I've got no vibe. I found you because of Tom MacDonald and I've watched a bunch of your shit since. I feel your real feedback, see your knowledge, and love your format.
Love,
Random Dude
I have to be honest,I've watched your react vids a few times over because bro I am addicted ! This one though, dude, your face when the "lyrics comin atcha with supersonic speed" just KILLS me every time. I LOVE IT. Best reactor on YT I found by accident! Keep doing what you do. .intelligent, articulate, you know your shizz and you rock it everytime 👊

6:40 this was the face everybody made the first time we heard this
EM=RAP GOD!
7:50 is what everyone is waiting for :D
Great reaction
“If you think I need to be over seas” (or over C’s like C cups) insane double
yo its been 3 or 4 yrs... I still love watching your genuine reaction... hope to share with my friends again 3 yrs from now ..lpeace 🙂
This man's voice is amazing I'd totally watch if he did a ASMR series
Even if its the first react thats what makes it better
You have to watch Rap God in 40 Styles by Ten Second Songs. It’s a thing of beauty.
You really need to see 10 Second Songs- Rap God in 40 Styles
New viewer, but I go on a kick of people reacting to classic songs every so often and for this one in particular you pointed out subtle things in the lyrics I never noticed before. Props for paying close attention and really taking the song in!
I love the way you just slowly look at the us then back at the video. Love your stuff Mr. Lloyd
