Seether’s cover is one of my favorite all time covers.
Both versions are good, but seem to hit way different. I don't think there is a loser here...but my preference is Seether's cover version. Hearing the agony in "Please Stay!!!!" from Shaun Morgan still gives me chills.
George Michael wrote this when he was teenager he was so good so talented
George Michael wrote, produced and arranged this entire song. He wrote this when he was 16/17 years old. He composed that saxophone riff. This man can sing anything! One of the very few artists who you listen to live and cannot figure out if it is a studio recording or a live performance. His vocal range is ridiculous and he has crazy control of his voice. He was the first "white" artist to win American Music Awards for favorite R&B/Soul Album for the album FAITH and Favorite R&B/Soul Male Artist in 1989. What a loss to this world he is.
I seen Seether in concert and this song is amazing live. Love the cover more. Don't get me wrong, i love the original but the cover hits different. Especially the way Shaun hits the please stay rips my heart apart.
George Michael is one of the greatest singers of all time
George Michael - careless whisper is a jammm.. this man was sooo talented
Seether's vocalist and bassist is originally from South Africa..
George Michael was one of a kind. I love love his voice and rhythm.
I’m glad you liked the Seether version!!!
I had a personal interest in the song/video because as a cop in Miami in 1984. I stopped one of two cars drag racing on a city street, it was a red rental Mustang, I hd no way of knowing at the time that the driver was Madeline Andrews, the slinky sexy"bad girl" on the boat and in the singer's bedroom scene, she was very cooperative and admitted guilt, she said she was a NY model/actress who had just finished shooting a grueling 3 day music with George Michael and this was her last day with the rental car before heading back to NY. She said was just being high spirited and glad to be going home. I had never seen a music video at the time and never heard of that singer, only a year or two later I just happened to see the video playing on MTV and instantly made the connection. I had always meant to look her up some day but when I finally got around to researching her I found out she had sadly died of cancer in 2012,--
Literally a great song no matter who sings it
OG is the honeymoon and Seether's is the funeral 50 years after
I like GM version, but Shaun Morgan’s vocals on the cover just put it ahead of the OG. The OG feels more upbeat but the cover gives it such an emotional punch that makes it better for me.
the best cover undoubtedly
masterpiece from a headbanger, tnks from brtazil
first time i saw Seether was in Nashville they opened for Nickelback great show
The original is the best, it has the feeling in it.
To be honest, the cover has feeling as well, it's just a different feeling. It's more of an intense regretful painful feeling, rather than the melancholy and smoothness of the original.
@BigFry9591 this. George's version comes across as full of sorrow but smooth, and Shaun's version is a crushing, regret filled gut punch from a guy who's in a pit of despair with no way out..especially when he says "please stay".
Should definitely check out more Seether.
George Michael all the way
George was zesty but he was good at it. Lol. RIP. I was 22 when George did the original and 45 when Seether did the cover. I prefer Seether's version, too. Shaun Morgan's voice conveys so much anguish, guilt, and heartbreak. I can remember where I was sitting and the song (almost two decades ago) when I first heard his voice because it was distinctive.
Btw, the aforementioned song was "Fine Again". Another heartbreak song
I grew up listening to the Seether version. I still think it’s the better version of the two. Loved your reaction.
Dude there’s another cover of this song you gotta check out. It’s by the Supervillians, it’s reggae rock but the band absolutely kills it. Brass instruments included
Love this format you're doing! Can I recomend "Holy Diver" original by Dio, Cover by Killswitch Engage?
I hadn't heard the Seether version. you pacing to decide 😆 While I prefer George, I enjoyed Seether...it definitely serves a certain mood.
Thanks for listening
I love both versions just as much ❤❤❤❤
I was once able to get this 90% right playing on the Saxophone. Surprisingly hard to get it just right but damn its so smooth when i was able to get it
Agreed 100% !
Bro for og vs cover you definitely gotta check out
Blank space- Taylor swift vs
Blank space- iprevail
you couldn't be more wrong, George wrote this when he was just 17.
Romance during the day is life! Lol
Do Lynyrd Skynyrd Simple Man and Shinedown's cover
FAITH! You gotta compare FAITH George Michael first and then follow up with FAITH Limp Bizkit. This one is classic. Plz plz
The cover is better
LOL!
Can't beat the original.
Did you actually listen to the other song?
@@MugnifyRTS Yes...total garbage!
Nah, George is the Best, and i Love rock music,but.....George is the Best of the Best
Seether's cover is total garbage! Sounds more like a goof on the George Michael song.
I liked it
