I managed to make a sort of loop hole with the traditional vs Digital value thing. I started making prints of anime and cartoon characters and selling them at my school. Then after I built a small customer base I started going to those people and saying “hey, you’ve bought a couple of my prints. Would you like me to make you you’re own costume prints?” And then they spread the word. It’s worked pretty well so far!
I really want to be a full time artist 💜 just started my youtube channel in lockdown as finally have the time to work hard for it. Very informative video, thanks a lot 💕
Very informative. I've been offering commissions for 5 years and I'm only just starting to charge a price which reflects the number of hours I put into a portrait. Even now, I can't make a living from it by any means, the work is slow to come in, more so at the moment. It takes time and patience and I still have to convince myself not to lose faith. Good luck everyone in your ventures 🤞
I offer everything (furry, anime, cartoon style within my art style) since idk what my niche is, but after years of doing this, I am starting to see which I like doing more and it’s a medium kind of niche 🎉

I know its been a few months but be careful, I've heard about people being blocked out of their account and having their money locked away when Paypal found out they were under 18
Just started doing commissions and got my first customer the other day through a friend 🥺 Been looking for ways where to put my art out for people, so here I am 😄
Thank you so much for sharing your personal tips with us! Recently i've been struggling a lot with finding some good tips about how to promote my commissions better, and your video was really interesting!
WARNING TO ARTISTS WHO ARE STARTING SUPER LOW ON THEIR PRICES if you charge super low, esp for big pieces, this not only hurts you in the long run, but also the commission community. People don't appreciate art the way they should and already see it as being something that should be super cheap, so they already try haggling and only looking for cheap commissions if you start low, just keep that in mind people might not be too happy when you raise your prices, regardless of if you've grown or not, you will find it hard to find customers once you begin raising I suggest not super lowballing, but starting at at least a decent price, then you can work it up from there, this way you're making something decent that isn't literal crumbs, and there's less likely going to be droughts once you begin raising prices, ive had this issue before where i lowballed super bad and once i raised, nobody bought from me know your worth and give yourself some credit, don't let people take advantage of you, and it might just help another artist along the way^^
Thanks for sharing your knowledge and experience. What, in your opinion, would be a good range to price commission work? I’ve started selling custom work and I sell my headshots at $30 a bust piece at $40, and full body piece at $60. Full body with color is $80. What are you thoughts on this price model?
@@steverogers7601 it depends on your skill level, and the time it takes to make it while also the time it took to get to where u are now. Also depends on how complicated it is, so i would say your price now is pretty good, charging low but still high enough to make smth is good, once you begin to build more of an audience and more demand you can increase accordingly to the demand and your skill level
@@sseroxyhydz as a beginner, is a headshot as 10$ bust 12$ fullbody 20$ . Like if I spend an hour or two on each drawing would that be a decent price if my skill level is lowish

☁️ I don't know if you'll find this comment, but I'm 16 and I'm trying to sell a digital piece to someone. They asked for a commission through Instagram, but I've never done a commission in my life, and I don't know how to sell this piece without getting scammed and paying for a website. Is there any possible way to do that? 💗 Thx for the incredible tips and inspiration!
I have offered commissions, but decided to close them for a few months as I wanted to focus on developing my skills, and my regular job (I'm only a part-time artist) got too busy.
Yo I checked most of your videos which are pretty good for beginner art entrepreneurs. Could you also consider making one for increasing your reach? I've been trying to do commissions but barely get any (1 in 6 months) Thankfully I'm still in college :) but the looming fear of what's gonna happen after it is scary.
I tried to show a commission sheet and I had one person for a commission but I haven’t got any request in a while and I just want to know what audience should I find to know about my commissions
I love your presence and your videos are very informative. Can you recommend a low cost beginner website for a commission portrait artist? I would need the client to choose sizes and medium. Also pay with PayPal. I think that’s all I need. Thank you.

But it's a struggle tho... I have built my website for months, and after being 2/3 months on air, I still haven't got any order. I even reduced the prices, and nothing. Social media feedback isn't also helping, and most online art websites only offer to sell physical products/prints, and many artists, like me, can't afford/do that. So if anyone has any tips fot his, I really would appreciate, I'm desesperate, tried a million things and still no results :(
Hello I have a question regarding art commissions for a minor sharing an adult’s PayPal: I have a minor sibling who is selling small art commissions, and apparently minors do not need to pay tax if it’s only a small bit. But the thing is, they use my PayPal account so it would seem like I am the one getting the income, would that mean I need to pay the tax as if they are an adult?
you make it sound easy but isn't. you first need to work on the fanbase and for that you have to invest in social networks and this take a lot of time, other thing is: come up with a good contract so that the commissioner doesn't scam you
