What an angel. Good for you buddy. Speaks volumes for you. I restore old VW's & started at your orange peel vid. Very much appreciated.
I had bought a pneumatic caulking gun. Really helped. Hand didn't get tired.
Nice! That’d help a lot
I have a astro pneumatic gun they are like 40$ well worth the $… they do not like dented cans tho… also cut a inverted v notch in the tip so you hold the gun at 90 degrees to the window and the urethane comes out as a triangle when you put the window in it squishes down square it also uses little less urethane but i have not had a leak since i started doing it that way and it is much easier for future replacement
Well, you didn’t struggle nearly as much as I had expect to get the sealant out of the tube. What a genius idea to heat it up. I went out and purchased a battery operated caulking gun and use that. Near the end the tool put so much pressure on the tube that it ruptured halfway through.
Dang! Was it cold? Yeah, warming it up a bit helps a lot, I think
Y'all made it look easy. Your lovely assistants clap at 3:12 was cute.
Thanks! Kinda a pain, but got it done
Yeah super cute :3
Excellent job Dale . The only thing that made me nervous was the weights at the end of your installation . I would do the same thing as you except I would have put some towels on the glass incase the weight tipped onto the glass causing it to chip or break . Other than that you did an amazing job sir.
Thanks. I was very careful with the weights. But never know when you’re gonna bump it. That’s what got me in this situation in the first place. LOL😂
incredibly appreciated. gonna do my own replacement with confidence this week :D
Thanks for saving me some money. Followed your guide yesterday. Went great.
Good video Dale !
Exellent job my friend.
Thanks
Dale, where can I buy the outer winshield gasket? I can't see to find it anywhere.
Did you have to scrape the old adhesive off before you started with the new windshield installation? Great video
Not all if it's in good shape. Just need it clean
I just need to replace the outer seal. Does it need to be adhered in place or does it just snap into place?
The outer seal around the windshield gets adhesive on it and can be hard to remove. You can remove it and dig out a channel for the new seal. You’ll probably have to use some adhesive for it as well. But I think could be done without removing windshield
@@JeepSolid ok great. Thank you for the reply
Who did you get the seal from l can't find one
Where’d you find the windshield with the gaskets with it?
Im thinking of replacing my windshield myself, was it difficult to remove?
It’s a pain, but doable. Takes a while to cut away the adhesive.
Where can I order a new windshield?
Dale, Great Video. Can I ask where your sourced your new windshield from? I fear I will have to do this myself in the near future. I.G.
This one was from rockauto.
Maybe I missed it but I did not see the part regarding the primer?
Primed before goo went on
You didn't leave a link for the windshield.
They used to have a nice kit on Amazon, but it’s not longer available. Have to order actual windshield elsewhere now
