Killer video man! I had fun shooting this with you and I have to say I'm loving the dry sense of humor you have in these videos! That Hasselblad was fun to shoot but like you said can't justify paying double for basically the same results. I'll be sticking with my GFX100!

If you like leaf shutter which allows you to shoot 1/2000 in full daylight to have small flash and faster recycle time and sharper images than yes. Not to mention Hasselblad perfect color out of camera as well as simple interface that is touch screen.

Great to see a real side-by-side shoot of the two iterations of the same sensor. I use both for landscape. Fuji and Capture One came first by 5 years. For me, the EVF and simple menu in the X2D are a big advantage - I really resent the lower calibre EVF in the 100s having had the 100. The magnification in the X2D makes it feel like you are looking into a great amphitheatre and is joy to use. The IBIS is also a degree better but it probably doesn't matter much. As to the files I think the X2D files hold no advantages over the Fuji. Despite the marketing hype about 'natural colour solutions' from Hasselblad files I am not persuaded. The WB is invariably all over the place in landscape shots and needs much more tuning than any fuji files ever have. RAW processing in Phocus is fine but it is a poor piece of software compared to C1. Its basic exposure tools are poor by comparison and do not allow the best to be exhumed from the shadows. Its never ideal exporting huge tiffs from Phocus to C1 but C 1 does a much better job at adjusting dark tones. Haven't decided whether the Hasselblad will stay or go. Its certainly a camera which makes you want t logo out and use it but the end results have no advantage in my 8-9 months of running the two side by side.

Should try the EVF in the new GFX100 II IMHO. I don't know why Fuji didn't use tilt EVF on GFX100s. I love it on my GFX50s.

Nice video. Looked like a nice trip! What software did you use to process the X2D files? I had both of these and out of cam through Phocus, the files were definitely not the same colour wise. Not saying this in a combative way. But processing from Phocus in stills a proprietary calibration that does not happen when processing the raw through any other software. These images in your video seam like they have a Lightroom preset in them and that they are matched. Which profile in Fuji was used as a base? Which bit depth was used on both? 14 or 16? I had and loved the gfx 100s and 50s that I owned before it along with the gf110 and GF 45,GF 23. In your video, it would have made more sense to use the gf50mm to compare with the fov of the XCD 55 as the GF63 is further off if the XCD 55. There is also a XCD 65 but I suppose you did not have access to these to match closer.
Ultimately, these tools work super well and will bring joy to anyone who has a chance to use and learn them and how to get the most out of them.

You hit the nail on the head! To preface; this wasn't a super formal review but I appreciate your questions! Photos were edited in Lightroom and edited with The Archetype Process profiles which emulates film. I wanted to match them to show that they would look pretty similar quality wise and included the raws in the caption as well! I'll probably get some hate for this but the Hasselblad was shot in 16bit and Fuji in 14bit. We didn't realize till afterwards 😂 like I said in the video, it was a bit of a rushed shoot because I had to Travel up, etc.
Main reason we tested the 63mm vs the 55mm was because of the close F-stop but I like your idea of testing the 50mm instead!
Thanks for your comment and view! I appreciate the support!

@ARCHIE you are very welcome my friend. I really enjoyed the scenery. Really beautiful location. It was what I enjoy with my portrait work as well. Always like to shoot outside. Yes. I really liked my gfx and although I had the 100s at the same time as I had the x2d at launch, I really tested them against each other for my use case. I found that the x2d rendered skin tones of all ethnicities the most accurately and for me this was always an annoying characteristic of the fuji. I found that the fuji was fantastic at producing artistic renditions of skin but needed to be graded in many cases fire more natural results where colour accuracy is needed. Not a problem just more work. I don't rely on auto focus with any of my cameras so although the gf and new xcd glass is fast focusing its not an issue for me. I shoot video with a separate video cam so no video means less menue clutter for me as well. Form factor wise, the hasselblad also is much thinner so finds its way out more with me more as well so I'm actually using it more for hobby use too. Big plus.

Skin tone looks better on Hassy. Can always put softening filter or in post to soften pics. Fuji gives more red on skin. Red on skin is a digital thing that didn’t happen with film and the 3 layers of color of film. But happens on most bayer system

Nice video, you definitely need to love the camera for what it is, how it feels in the hand, and its unique feaures like the built in memory and leaf shutter lenses. Saying it isn't worth 2x the price of the Fuji doesn't make a lot of sense though. You could easily say the same about the Fuji when comoaring it to high res "full frame" cameras that are much cheaper. Almost nobody needs 100mp and you can get shallower depth of field on full frame systems because of the lens selections available. For a film look I'd recommend the Nik Filters (now owned by DXO. They do a much better job than Lightroom for that.

When I started shooting commercially I had a Mamiya RZ and a few Pentax 67 bodies (also sometimes did work with Sinar P2 4X5). We can't expect digital cameras to give us the same feeling since they are such different animals. But I think Fuji and Hasselblad are good in their own ways. In the studio I think the Hasselblad would be great if you did not need fast capture times. But all my clients seem happy with the files I get from my R5. That being said, last week I shot at an ad agency's photo studio and they had a few Fuji GFX 100s bodies and I used it for the day I was there. I liked it a lot but also, again, not shooting fast.

Man, the price of Hasselblad's is wild. It's the same debate I have withmyself regarding Leicas - I have a small Fuji T30 II I use for street, but maybe one day a Leica Q2 would be justified. But I don't know, it would have to be more of a I can "just do it do do it and not cry about it" purchase than a big up stepping up the quality. THanks for sharing your thoughts! I make short films on my channel, recently filmed a portrait of a young painter in Sweden, I’d really appreciate if you stopped by Archie, thanks! :)

From the video presented the image renderings are pretty even regardless of camera. The big disparity comes from engineering, form, and the minimalist approach of the Hasselblad. In other words it’s just sexier…however, I preferred the 100S…in couple of images the skin color/tone seemed hotter or reddish with the Hasselblad resulting less natural look to me…very nice video!

..can´t see a field of professional photography where the hasselblad would be the better choice in fact it is nothing more than a wonderful build boutique camera for rich hobbyists.
a rather limited line of lenses, just one very expansive zoom, nothing above 120m this alone is a joke considering how long this system is already on the market.
    no af-C
    no options for customisation
    no live view when tethering
    no pixel shift
    no pro support
now with the gfx100II the reason to get this camera as a professional is even less appealing, I also think DJI just keeps hasselblad alive to use the logo on their drones but they do not have a real commitment.
