Oh my, I was one of the original Devs back then but god, this isn't even remotely close to the last version I had in my machine. I see some veeery outdated models and textures. Also, most of what was shown here were simply placeholders at that time.
You managed to make the mod really look like Hunt down the freeman somehow.
I have no idea which version of the mod is around but this is totally incomplete. That glock is actually from FPS-Banana back when we had no time or enough 3d modellers to help us.

Thanks, guys! You know, modding is hard. You don't always get the time to work on things, or even the right tools and experience. Plus, there's no money involved.
So I'm glad to see people appreciate our work and be comprehensive about it being abandoned.
Anyway, game development is getting a bit more common so why not expect someone to grab where we stopped and finish it properly? One can only hope hehe
Daniel Meyer Dammous actually someone released an updated version of OpFor2, but it was badly received, because they put some cutscenes, a crossbow etc... it was done by the same dev as Der Schwarze Nebel, another beta HL2 mod. the best build we had of OpFor2 was the « Red » version with some levels such as Urban Chaos etc. It was good. This citadel in the sky was amazing, and also those enemies « proto Combine », you did things so much better than HDTF. Later I also got some older files where a final boss fight against a massive Behemoth, the Titanspleen, was described. Too bad all of that disappeared. I hope someone will take one day your true inheritage, we got some correct fan made sequels with Shephard such as Prospekt but nothing compared to your work

Why would they include the python but not Shepard’s iconic desert eagle? The python wasn’t even in the original OPFOR
What bothered me the most was that some of the reload sounds were out of sync with the reload animations.
The python is in OpFor but you have to use cheats to get it.

Opposing Force 2 is a great mod IMO. One of the few mods, that show the 7 Hour War and bring a mew model for the Combine synths

Every time you release a vidoe comparing half life and another game/mod, usually my reaction to the second game is
"THAT'S A THING?"
This was one week ago? Is don't wanna miss this great content
What the actual sequel to Opposing Force needs is an actual team to salvage what was left from Menter's original design for Opposing Force 2, and redo most of the stuff from scratch in order to get with the times and bring it to 2021 quality. The original Opposing Force 2 mod was planned to be seven-chapter long, featuring locations like City 5, desert wasteland, underground complex and pine forest in Combine-occupied USA to name a few.
Lost was an attempt to make something out of what was left by Menter and the original team, but it was just sloppily patched with glue and duct tape, rather than have had an actual effort to complete the mod as originally envisioned.
Here is how the original concept looked like:
The plot revolved around Adrian Shephard being released from detainment for unknown reasons, and the Seven Hour War was a still a recent occurence by the time he arrives in City 5. He joins the Phoenix Command, a special operations group consisting of ex-US operatives from various branches of the military, navy and air force, including the HECU, that was part of the newly forming Resistance. The exact reasons for his release from detainment by G-Man weren't clear, aside from the fact that he was still bound to his agenda. His mission in City 5 as a Phoenix operative was to prevent the Combine from gaining a foothold by establishing a Citadel, but we didn't really know how this mission goes. After that, the aforementioned locations were going to be visited by Adrian, but the details of the plot and how he got here, and for what reason... were known only by Menter and his associates at the time, and nobody knows what is he doing these days.
I'm posting this mostly because I hope someone who's interested in gamedev picks up this concept and make an actual, worthy continuation of Shephard's story, even if it's fanmade. And no, Prospekt doesn't count.

Opposing Force 2: Lost - attempt to revive the original Opposing Force 2 mod development, polish up and turn the existing content into something more than an unfinished demo with a few maps. On April 8 2018, I asked the administration to delete the page of this my mod. I load this mod and fix the engine (Crow Engine, modified version of the engine. This uses the FF CM code, Apolon666 code and mine code). All credits goes to NervenHölle-Team and Opposing Force 2 Team.

Further support is not expected. This is an old mod that should not have been updated.

@@Riixtard many of the models used in alphas are either alpha/unfinished look at the original glock in black mesa 2012 mod version. lots of games when in dev use temp models/placeholder models. Blood (1997) used the cyberdemon texture from doom as a placeholder for the boss before the game was finished. so it isn't bad it just hasn't been finished and polished.
a comment from a former mod dev stated that many of the weapon model were taken from gamebanana to be used as placeholders.
