The true story of Anne Bonny. 18 to 20 years old. I can’t even imagine how a woman and her mother embarked on this courageous journey.Anne & her mother(Mary)lived the true life of pirates. infamous, pillaging and braving the rough seas. They truly fought hard. The courage, the strength of their character. The world with these two women such a tale to be told. It’s true pregnant with child some say she was pardoned until she had the baby. To this day they don’t know if she got away. So very proud of them.

Beautiful. Just epic, you have done Ann justice with this ballad. Sail on Karlene, would love to see what you would do with Mary Reed or Edward Kenway just saying.😀
Oh my god! IM so used to your soft, clear sound we usually get from you. But this was absolutely phenomenal! The rawness and natural rasp in this song make it so much more authentic to listen to. Love your tudor album series also.
😱 I love Anne!! My favorite pirate and one hell of a woman. Dress as her yearly she’s certainly my Queen. Saving this song it’s great. Love your voice.
Oh my this is amazing. I remember first reading about her in my book I got for my birthday when I was younger about both Famous and Infamous Women of History. Then I bumped into her again while traveling to Florida. Beautiful song
Funny enough, even if he was sober and brave enough to fight like he normally did, Captain Jack would've still "hung like a dog" lolol. It's funny that her most iconic saying is also the most redundant. And I haven't heard any accounts of her "paying him a visit" before his hanging, to tell him that. She wasnt THAT horrible lol. No, she was still IN prison, and was simply overheard saying that while Jack was being hung outside, as she was dealing with her deep mixed feelings for him and his actions. Yes, because she was never really pardoned merely for being pregnant. That wasnt the law of the time - A female was to remain IN prison, in custody (unless she was rich or noble), until such time as her child was born, and THEN resume her sentence to death. Which was also to be Mary Read's same fate, had she not died while pregnant in prison. It was Anne's release after giving birth that was unusual and mysterious. But most historians agree on the high possibility that, while the other miserable pirates used their “last goodbye rights” to send their love to a significant other or family or the closest thing, Anne had more than any of them: 1- An immensely rich daddy that she left behind 2- and an ex-husband with government ties that she also left behind for Jack. Whichever one she chose probably got the most cunningly written, love-filled, longing, sentimental, pleading letter he ever got in his life lol. And likely was persuaded to find a way to bail her out. Many historians, however, agree on the possibility that, again, she just resumed her death sentence anyway after giving birth, but that this wouldnt be as romantic a tale to keep passing on. One way or another, I will always wonder, what became of her newborn child? And, IF she escaped hanging, then what TRULY became of her?
I think the phrase might have been referencing that if hed fought hed have gone out in battle like a man. Instead of surrendering and being put to death. Then again they captured most of the crew so maybe not
I think the most likely scenario is her father got her out of it, for his own sake, rather than hers. She had already become an ongoing scandal for him. "Oh, you had a child out of wedlock!" and then "Oh, that sinful child ran off to become a PIRATE! See what your sinful actions have brought upon your name?!" He probably just decided he didn't want to hear a new scandal of how the child of sin had now been hanged for piracy. Out of all the possibilities, this seems the most probable, given the era, and the tendency for wealthy families to desperately conceal scandal whenever possible. He probably threw money at the problem to make it go away. Sent a letter and had her either shipped home, or shipped to a convent somewhere.
Wait wait, so her blood-line might still be alive????O.O So someone or some people in the world are the descendants of Anne Bonny? Same for Mary Read??
@@zerdapekin847 It's not clear if Mary Read's baby lived or died. Same for Anne's, some accounts say she lost the child before being released, others say she was released before giving birth, others say the child was taken away from her upon birth. Over all, seems like a safe bet there may be a descendant of Anne Bonnie out there somewhere.
Karliene I'm glad i found you on youtube. i was shocked when this song popped up on my playlist, but i instantly fell in love. With your vocals in the song and also just the fact Anne Bonny was such a huge Hero imo, she wasn't afraid to stand up for what she wanted female/male. She Showed no fear in the face of adversity. Something everyone feels fear of at some point in their life. Thank you for such an impressive song.
Boudica, Anne Bonny, Countess Bathory. You're the only person I've seen sing songs about these powerful women and I love it! Please don't stop, as your bardic songs are exciting for those of us who know of them as much as they are for those who will hear these names and then look them up.

O Lady Karliene, my dear pirate lass, I do love your singin' 'specially of this song of freedom-loving buccaneers who roamed the waters of the world! I'm writing a slew of pirate fantasy/sci-fi stories and I am adding this to my playlist of songs to listen to when I work! I really hope you do more pirate-themed songs!
Thank you so much for the luck! Heh, well, FUNNY thing is, they were originally just fantasy, but after some revelations with some ideas, the best I can give without spoils is pirating and fantasy adventures in space. A mix between tech and classic (like steampunk, or Thundercats, or Treasure Planet) and eventually, I like to think they'll cross the stars!
A fine tribute to the infamous female pirate Anne Bonny (March 8, 1697 - April 22, 1782), the Irish-American pirate who defied all stereotypes of the time. Your excellent vocal performance is filled with the spirit of Anne Bonny and Mary Read, and the music is absolutely perfect. Cheers!
Wait, she lived to be 85 years old? That's impressive, considering the life expectations of that time was mid to late 50s. But, one thing doesn't make sense to me, isn't Anne's death date an unsolved mystery? Besides the song, it's actually true that she vanished and no one saw her again. Unless, there's some new information that I missed...
My list of favorite pirates are Thomas Tew, Henry Every (A.k.a. John Avery or Benjamin Bridgman), Edward Teach (Blackbeard), William Kidd, and Anne Bonny. This song makes Anne seem so much cooler. Nice work.

Oh my god. THIS is perfection!! Honestly.
I'm a singer myself and I'm not easily impressed but this is... a whole new level! I love the lyrics, I love the music and above all I absolutely adore your voice. It's so rough in this song and it goes so well with the theme of the song. Absolutely amazing!!
As someone who enjoys Black Sails, this is wonderful! You've done it again Karliene!!
Love your tudor album series also.
kaitlyn amira kerr Thanks so much. I’m so glad you like this one :-)
😱 I love Anne!! My favorite pirate and one hell of a woman. Dress as her yearly she’s certainly my Queen. Saving this song it’s great. Love your voice.
Don't know why but that spoken line always gives me the tingles lol.
I recomend you all the show Black Sails. Every caracter is featured perfecly, and Anne Bonny is just my fav 😍
Oh my this is amazing. I remember first reading about her in my book I got for my birthday when I was younger about both Famous and Infamous Women of History.
Then I bumped into her again while traveling to Florida. Beautiful song
This song will never get old
In the instrumentals, the lyrics and the voice, this is about as perfect as a ballad can get.
Over all, seems like a safe bet there may be a descendant of Anne Bonnie out there somewhere.
a user i saw on youtube is a descendant of anne bonny, he has her diary in his home
One of my favorites!!
Your vocals are so powerful and the tales you tell come to life with the energy that you put into them. Fantastic!
I plan on having this song on repeat for the next few days ... weeks.
Just AMAZING!!!
Honestly this is amazing! As a maritime historian, it just tickles all my interests haha and I love the inclusion of the words Bonny said to Rackham in prison :D
Lyrical genius on every level
Just an "Amazing" song my Hurdy Gurdy and Cutlass thank you for sharing your heart and voice to the Pirates Queens. I love to play along with your music
This was a pleasant discovery while trying to show my wife who the great Anne Bonny was. Thank you for this experience. Awesome song.
“Drunken sailor” variation is the most precious thing 💜
I love the “drunken Sailor” reprise in the end 🖤
Every single word is wow really wow ..and the voice and it's pitch tells that the singer is as badass as our loved Anne bonny
Beautiful....Just captures the soul of the pirate queen I studied while pursuing a 6th history degree. Karliene even looks like the Bonny I imagined.
This brings back memories of my childhood when I would be so obsessed with anne bonny
I came from Black sails and Anne Bonny is really a queen❤️
I have listened to this all day
I can’t wait until this song hits iTunes! I can’t stop listening to it😍😍😍😍😍😍
can't get enough, heared it up an down again and again
Damn, this could be a whole musical.
45 seconds in and I'm already in love! YOU ARE A QUEEN KARLIENE! ❤
Anne Bonny and Mary Read. This made my day. Loves it.
I really hope you do more pirate-themed songs!
kilnorc Thank you and massive luck writing your stories!
Are they pirate stories set in space because I’m really loving that...
Love this. I don't know how many times I listened to it over and over.
Wish there were more singing story tellers in the world. Thank you.
I adore this song! Thank ye kindly!
Cheers!
Where did you find the date of her death? I thought nobody knew what happened to her.
Nice work.
I love this song.
Still one of my favorites
This is a kickass song
I just LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this song.
My company is called Anne Bonny, and I stumbled across this song when doing some research.
I'm so happy that you made this song, Karliene ❤❤❤
I'm so happy that you love it! :)

Legendary tale indeed.
Your voice..love it
This is so amazing.. unbelievable. The rough tune suits you perfectly, please more of this kind!
Hmmmm.... A new song to be addicted to. Stop being so addicting! Your performance is so amazing! Loving this new song in montreal, canada.
I love this song so much that I learned the guitar part in one day. It's great.
Nice PFP
Writing a book and Anne, Jack and Mary are a big part of it, now I'm even more amped
This might just be one of your best songs along with Become the Beast and A Woman's Game (for me, of course). You just keep on shocking us with your amazing talent!!
The pirate life sounds fun!
Amazing myths!
Awsome sea shantys!
Definitely one of my favorites I've found so far, your voice goes with this so well... :)
