    Hot glue the hole or secure it in some other way to ensure 100% that the screw is secured.
    You do not want the screw on the elsastic propelled back towards your face/eyes

  • @bane349
    @bane349 3 года назад +20

    good idea, but you might consider making a small hole on one side and a larger hole (or cross shape) in the back. then thread the end of the cord through both holes and tie a knot small enough to pass through the big hole while still large enough to stop at the small hole. then the knot will be hidden inside the ball and you have no chance of ever poking yourself with a screw. :)

      @GabrielVargaOfficial  3 года назад +3

      Ooo. Maybe I'll try that with my next reflex ball.

    • @davidshowers7508
      @davidshowers7508 3 месяца назад

      You ain't never lied about getting poked by the screw. Get It screw LOL so naturally I made mine from simple string or elastic string. The screw for some reason I felt we're going to come out or something or maybe the type of string that I had was going to pop I wore safety glasses just in case it wouldn't hit me in the eye or pop in my eye. The screw I didn't realize from getting better for about 2 hours of trying. the screw came out I didn't realize I was punching the screw as well it could have hit me in my eye. So now I use a different type of piece of metal like a key ring and then tape the ball up. and just kept it moving.

  • @thecatadors911
    @thecatadors911 3 года назад +4

    If u were to make 2 small holes in the top of the tennis ball (about 1/2” to 3/4” away from each other), then feed the string thru both of the holes and tie a simple fishing knot with both ends and cut the excess, that works very well. Everything else is great! The hat is such a good idea! But when i use my reflex balls with the headband, i undo my snapback and wear the headband with the string going thru the hole and re snap the snaps. That always worked really well for me

    Hello Gabriel,
    Thank you very much for this tutorial.
    I am an absolute beginner, I just bought this product and I don't really understand what the precise size of the elastic is. Do you consider the elastic stretched with maximum tension or relaxed, from the head to the hand?
    Thank you

  • @marcinn3668

    I'd fear a screw leaving a ball when a band is stretched, and having a screw going towards my face :p Maybe just putting the band also at the other end of the ball and tying some knot? I have to try this out

    Hey Gabriel, thanks voor the tutorial! I made my own a couple days ago and it's been fun, frustrating but you do learn quick. Quick question: the band youre using likes to keep its shape, e.g. it refuses to twist around itself too much. Mine gets twisted up super much and after a bit of time it creates a spinning effect on the ball, and I feel like that makes it harder to control. Does that matter and should I buy a better quality band or is it something I just need to get used to? Thanks in advance if you answer this.

    • @GabrielVargaOfficial
      @GabrielVargaOfficial  3 года назад +2

      Mine does twist as well but if you can keep the ball going it seems to sort itself out.
      But after a 1-3 minute round I definitely have to untwist it.

    Actually i have some aditional questions, i actually bought this like headband setup from shop and it cost me 12 euros which is about 14 dollars. I bought it after christmas and i have been using it 2-3 times a week, there are 2 balls in this setup and one is beginner and one is advanced. I have been using the beginner and already feeling like improving, but two days ago while i was training, the ball actually bounced back and right into my eyeball. It hurt quite a bit and made me question the safety features of this kind of training. Obviously i could use some basic tool shop plastic glasses or swimming pool glasses. I was training outdoors so i was able to use snow at the time to reveal the pain. But what do you recommend. When i train i actually put a cap on so the headband is under the cap and wont come off then, but i was almost thinking if i should wear the cap that the brim visor stays in front and almost acts as a safety visor. I hope you understand. English isnt my native language.

    • @epr8974
      @epr8974 3 года назад +2

      That's part of the training. Just like with a speed bag, you can use this thing to train your guard, head movement and reflexes.
      A tennis ball to the eye sucks, but I had this happen to me while actually playing tennis and can still see just fine.
      The better you get at it, the fewer accidents like this will happen.

  • @mustsilm
    @mustsilm 3 года назад

    I have aditional question, if im still a beginner, surely i should wrap my hands or at least use like bicycle gloves or smth? Otherwise im going to hurt my knuckles and skin will start to peel off while i train.

    • @epr8974
      @epr8974 3 года назад

      On this thing? No. Tennis balls are pretty forgiving, even if you don't hit perfectly. They also don't weigh enough to really cause an impact that could possibly hurt your hands a those speeds. You also really don't hit a reflex ball hard, unless you want it to smack you.

  • @epr8974

    I wouldn't use a screw because there's the inherent risk of injuring yourself if you get stupid with it and squash it or fall on it or god knows what. Anything that can have the string tied around it and can get trapped inside the ball without disintegrating works.

Also I do not want to wear hat while training and it comes with elastic headband which actually works nicely. I could make it, I have spare tennis balls at home for different gym DIY hack, but buying it really did not make regret my money spent. If you do not have a hat your cost actually will be higher than cost of my supercheap choice from China.
