If you look at the stats. This springbok team scored more backline tries than forward tries over the last 4 yrs. This just shows you how versatile they've become. Wasn't rugby always about grinding up front and tiring your opponents, and when this happen, you play for the space. We as springboks struggled to finish when we had the chance, but oh boy do we like scoring those tries out wide now

@@DM-rp9ikit's worth remembering that RWCs exist in legend, while the Rugby Championship and Six Nations only exist on Wikipedia. The most casual rugby fan will be able to tell you who won in 1995, or 2011, but only the most committed student of the sport will be able to tell you, without using Wikipedia, who won the Rugby Championship in 2017. So I'm glad the ABs win lots of RC trophies, but the Boks have won 4 RWCs from 8 entries, while the ABs have won 3 from 10. That is what legend will remember.

The whole tournament boks were great. Played most games perfectly to plan. Boks were great in the Final too. Defense was brilliant. We're great in my opinion against France even though France dominated most of the game. They were great against Ireland, Scotland, not so much against England but we're good against the all blacks too. Especially in the early moments. In the last couple of minutes they held new Zealand back and it looked at times like the all blacks were running into brick walls. But because the boks don't play the "basketball rugby" therefore they won't really get the credit they deserve. The 2015 all blacks team were obviously amazing but this boks team is more than just pretty rugby. Or best rugby. Ireland played their best rugby yet look what it brought them? So sometimes you need more. I'll probably put those 2 teams current boks and 2015 equal. But if I had to choose I'll probably go boks.

Achieving success against the world's top five rugby teams requires more than just an emphasis on playing beautiful rugby. It demands a strategic approach, necessitating a team with exceptional skills, physical conditioning, and unwavering determination. In the process, one must carefully evaluate scenario-based questions within their specific contexts. Ironically, Ireland, in their pursuit of attractive rugby, suffered defeat and another quarter-final exit. New Zealand's defeat can, in part, be attributed to their extensive use of ball-in-hand play, while South Africa opted for a more conservative approach due to their lead. It's important to remember that when you aggressively attack the game, you expose yourself to the inherent risk of a counter-attack.

Although they beat most opponents in that World Cup pretty easily it was actually a 2 point game against the Springboks (the same team that lost against Japan.) As South African fan I have to admit that 2015 era All Blacks were amazing especially on individual player level. This Springbok group though has something else as far as a team squad (not only the 15 on the field) - and sometimes the whole is greater than the sum of the parts.

I think they are. Yes, I am South Africa and I am biased. But, people who don't know South African Rugby won't know our priorities when it gets to being successful in terms of winning trophies and results. We simply work in 4 year cycles. For 4 years, we build depth, we try things, we build experience, we test combinations, we are simply building towards the next world cup. Yes, we would like the win the Rugby championship, but that is not our main priority. Of course we don't go out there to lose, we want to win every game, but once again, we use lot of those matches to gain information for our next World Cup. Our main priority is always the next world cup. In 2024, our priority will be to have the best team in the world in 2027. The World Cup is literally the only trophy that unites our country and in a World Cup we are almost the finished product that we trialed for the past 4 years. In 2018, this team had a plan to win the World Cup 2023. It just happened that we won 2019. 2020 was completely written off due to South Africa's strict Covid government restrictions. They literally went into the Lions Series with limited preparation, a year behind the rest of the world and they managed to win it. Right after the Lions series, attention turned to the world cup. This team is incredible. 2 World Cups, back to back and a Lions series. Unbelievable. Now, it is time to groom the next generation. The 2015 All Black team would not stand a chance against this team. There are two ways of playing the game. This team know how to win. Luckily BOD's opinion carries no weight when it gets to our rugby.

I am a Bok and have to agree that 2015 AB side was just crazy man. But in terms of the Boks being boring and everyone complaining about their style of play. Totally utter Bull that back three of SA at this moment might very well stake a claim on the Back three of the AB 2015 side without a doubt. If two games can point out that the Boks can use both pack and backs 2019 WC Final and the Quarters against France 🇫🇷 .... Cheslin is so underrated, man, and I promise you Willemse and Arendse will only get better with Canan taking over the 13. The Boks can switch up their play much better than any other team in World Rugby. But no one is talking about it. The 5-3 split against France mind-blowing lol .... And it worked the fact that the Boks have so many utility backs that also indicate the talents we have. But the hate is real, man. So proud of the Boks !!!

It wasn't Brian, it never has been, not even once & even worse never passed a quarterfinal. Knocked out in a quarterfinal is the worst performance for an SA team in world cups and it's Ireland's highest achievement. Frankly your opinions cannot be taken seriously considering

How does a team that scrapes through each game through grit and some very good fortune i.e. All Blacks down to 14 but only winning by one come close to the 2015 All Blacks? Remember ABs were undefeated. SA also could not beat Ireland. If by great, you mean plucky and spirited then maybe but great should mean consistently excellent. Here is just one example. The ABs put 60 on France in their 2015 quarter-final against France. SA scraped through. The match could have gone either way.
    Perspective, please.
Well done to the 2023 SA team but let’s not delude ourselves.

You seem to conveniently forget that the BEST NZ team of all time in 2015 scraped through the RWC semi-final by 2 points against... the Springboks (who at that stage were a young, developing team). And France and most of the other teams competing in RWC2015 were very average, not like in RWC2023 where France & Ireland were way stronger than in previous years.

This is so laughable. The fullback alone the boks played in the final isnt fit hold to Ben Smiths jockstrap let alone any of the other legends in that AB 2015 team. The Bok 15 looked worse than most NZ schoolboys out there. The fact is the rules HEAVILY favour the defensive team which isnt the natural game of the AB's so they are at a huge disadvantage under the current officiating and rules. Yet they nearly beat this supposedly great bok team with 14men when both teams should of been down to 14 and while battling the ref/tmo's who might as well had springbok jerseys on. (boks should of been down to 13 imo at times as the officiating was just simply biased as hell in this game). Boks were literally handed the trophy by world rugby on a platter.

That legendary ABs team you speak of squeaked through the semis by a mere 2 points against a young, developing Springboks side. Your language is just as appalling as your inability to make sense. WR (especially Beaumont who cannot bear the fact that the Boks slaughtered his team in the tour of 1980) dislikes the Springboks intensely, so there goes that ridiculous theory of yours.

Haha gotta love all the Bokke fans trying to convince the everyone that the 2023 boks team is the best ever…
The 2011-2015 All Blacks lost 5 games out of 66, Had TWO x3 time player of the year winners in Richie McCaw and Dan Carter, x1 WPoty Kieran Read & Brodie Retalick not to mention the best centre pairing ever in Maa Nonu & Conrad Smith. Julian Savea at the peak of his powers too!
This Springbok team played 51 games from 2019-2023 and lost 13!! That includes both world cups btw..
I also gotta question if they had the hardest run ever.. I mean they lost against Ireland so that doesnt count does it? beat France - which WAS definitely the most impressive but then beat an England team who were bloody terrible and were expected to go out in the group stage & finally beat the worst NZ team in professional history (a 70% win rate under Foster vs 89% for the 2011-15 team).
Not to mention the final was overshadowed by the ref & TMO and NZ playing 60mins with 14men.
Why do you think this Springbok team arent getting huge praise OUTSIDE of South Africa?
Sorry SA fans, they wont be admired as much as that 2015 Abs team. Just enjoy your world cup victory and stop trying to convince the rest of the world you’re the greatest ever 😂 ✌️

Difference is, South Africa now win those close games. Before 2018, we used to lose them. We only lost to Ireland in that first game, because we didn't have a kicker.

Rassie is the best coach going around atm for sure but this isnt the best group of players getting around by any shot of the imagination. The boks just got super lucky with the refs to the point its questionable if Barnes and those TMO's just hate NZ given their history with the AB's. (that same match official group also robbed us in the ireland series in VERY similar circumstances).

The SA/IRE pool game was lauded by same critics as one of the best games ever, the SA/France game was one of the fastest flowing games and considered one of the best in the history of the tournament. Once by a point and you start thinking, lucky, twice, probably dodged a bullet, but three times, you just take your hat off. South African rugby has its own DNA so as fans we dont share your opinion of what constitutes great rugby. Great teams can adapt to the changes in conditions. I cant think of another team in history that has had to take this route to a final. The greatest feat to date in worldcup history. No equal. Oh and then there's 2019.

So yes the 2015 NZ team could play very attractive "good looking" rugby, but the opposition where not nearly as good as the opposition teams now. Now in 2023, Ireland are brilliant, France are brilliant, NZ are Brilliant. Games are harder now, more players that are great now.

The ABs that won back to back world cups in 2011 and 2015 were great no doubt, but they struggled to win in 2011 (at home) by 1 point in the final. A lot of people say the boks were lucky this world cup by beating teams by a single point.
In 2015 there were barely 2 teams that could have won the world cup, and the AB's barely beat the boks in the semi final, the same bok team that was the laughing stock of the tournament for losing to Japan. In 2023 the competition was much more fierce, with Ireland and France arguably having their best teams of all time, and Scotland that can beat anyone on the day.
The AB's also drew against the Lions in 2017, which had a lot of the 2015 squad. The current bok squad did manage to beat the Lions in 2021 (after not playing any international rugby since 2019 because of covid).
Saying this current bok team is not as good as 2015 AB's because they don't play attractive rugby is just silly (They manage to evolve a lot since 2019 and played a few games with lots of flair). The only thing that the 2015 AB's did better that the current Bok squad, is they were more consistent between world cups, but they never had to face a rush defense like the boks have now, never lost a year of international rugby due to covid, nor did they need to build themselves up from the gutters like this Bok team had to, which suffered record losses constantly before Rassie and Jacques took over.

From 2011 to 2015 The All Blacks lost only three tests.
Their win rate was 92%.There is not another sports team in the world that even comes close that.
In 2017 the All Blacks beat South Africa 57 to nil.
The historical win rate of the All Blacks over 612 tests is 77.12%.
      That over 120 years.
