The SA vs England Rivalry is largely based on historical bad blood, so probably not too dissimilar to the Irish. Or the Scottish. Or the Welsh. Or the French.
Bu the SA vs NZ rivalry is 100% a sports one. It's probably fairly comparable to sibling rivalry actually. 2 Brothers beating the ship out of each-other to prove who's tougher.

That great semi-final in 2015 SA vs NZ went to the wire 20-18. NZ blew maybe all other teams away, but not SA.
Correct, the team with all the legendary players named here managed to pip a relatively young SA side which had young players in that matchday squad by the names of Malherbe, Louw, Etsebeth, de Jager, Kholisi, Vermeulen, Kriel, de Allende, Le Roux, and Nyakane. With the exception of Louw(retirement) and de Jager(illness), eight of the ten became double WRC winners!

The affinity between the AB's and the Boks goes back to the Boer war. They are both commonwealth countries they have similar culture that goes back to when both were fighting for the UK in worldwar 1. Two farming culture countries introduced to rugby by the Brits. We play cricket against each other too, but our rivalry is with the Aussies. Rugby and cricket are the bedrock of the Southern Hemisphere.

Everyone in the Irish media and public, wrote off the AB's and just expected to win. Even though it was a year and a half ago that you played them and the team has changed so much. Ian Foster has done a great job building depth over the past couple of years and strengthening the tight five. The new assistant coaches have also done a great job.
To say they have had an easy road into the final is a joke. And it is even more disrespectful to say it isn't a great team. It has a couple of world players of the year and future world players to come. It has the most capped AB of all time.
Ian Foster has deliberately built through the tournament. Keeping some powder dry for the playoffs. Ireland sadly had played all their cards and didnt have the depth the AB's had. That's why Sexton wasn't subbed off when he wasn't having the impact needed from him.
We are in for an epic battle between NZ and SA. May the best team win.

Ireland and France sitting at home both beat the two finalists both finalists are lucky if one of them topped there pool one of them would of been gone in the quarters and France or Ireland would be in the final winning the pool isn't important anymore probably France they were fantastic against South Africa while Ireland were nervous against New Zealand.

The risk in SAs tactic. It didn't work against Ireland and New Zealand were down a man or two when it worked against them last time. So? Jury is out again. BUT, SA coaches are no idiots so they are obviously trying to hone this idea and the more you do it, the more you iron out defects in the execution of it. PLUS, they are now familiar with this competition being a scrap for them. NZ had one intense game where they went to the reserves of energy and managed to get over the line. Are they ready for another all-hands-on-physicality-decks for another 80 mins against a SA that kinda expect nothing else at this point? Finals are usually dirty grunt games and SA have been having a good few of them already!

Football might be more popular in South Africa but they're totally useless at it ...couldn't win an argument !...me thinks that rugby will overtake it because the average South African wants to be part off a winning culture.

I don't see people getting as much behind the Banana bafana as the Springboks to call out soccer the most popular sport. Sure it's played and many watch it but I think SA breathes rugby way more. Look at people wearing kits in the streets far more than people wearing football jerseys. But I guess it depends which part of SA you are from I remember in the cape rugby wadnras trendy as much as up north.

i think there is a much deeper connection to All Blacks VS SA than you guys know and think - for example the 1981 tour of NZ by SA. A huge movement where games were called off because of massive protest against apartheid and racial segregation. Protestors were in the support of releasing Nelson Mandela - who eventually became the man to shake the south africans hands before/after the 1995 WC final. Ignorant comment from you guys - classic

    As a NZ'r I cant pick it but my heart❤ says AB'S
Its on the day who wants it the most this should go to the wire and may the best team win.
