What will it be like if the film was never a disappointment in the first place? What if it was praised by critics and was a blockbuster hit with everybody? What if Steven Spielberg loved it as one of his best movies he ever worked on? That would be amazing.

I saw this movie in theaters as a child. I was spellbound throughout the whole film. It was a HUGE part of my childhood. It held the same court as 89 Batman and 90's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. It was a movie perfectly catered to our generation. I'd have to go with Pleastendub on why Spielberg would ever consider this movie even close to being a disappointment. He was far to critical on himself like most artists are. I'm sure if he was presented with the opinions and views of those of us that grew up with this movie as a part of of childhood joy he'd see his work in a much different light.

100% agree. And Jumanji! I feel like I'm still missing several. Obviously he's amazing in movies like Patch Adams, Dead Poets Society, etc., but the three you mentioned + Jumanji are movies my brothers and I watched constantly as kids (I was born in 1988) and still quote all the time to this day. Jack is also an incredibly underrated movie that fit Williams perfectly. The guy just had this amazing, child-like way about him that made kids everywhere fall in love with him.
I genuinely cried when Robin Williams died for that reason. So many laughs and so much joy that my family and I still laugh about every time we see each other.

It's another great score by the master. And that sounds so underwhelming, but honestly, John Williams IS just the best film composer of all times. And I am saying that in an age when we've had Howard Shore, James Horner, Jerry Goldsmith, Hans Zimmer, Danny Elfman and Vangelis. They've all made amazing scores, but not at such a consistent rate and over such a long period of time as John Williams. PLUS, they all are iconic. Apart from virtually every Star Wars theme, most people who've heard them would probably instantly recognize the Superman Theme, at least three themes from this film, Harry Potter Theme, Indiana Jones and Jurassic Park, and many other themes of these films AND would probably be able to hum them. This, I think, is an unparalleled achievement.
I'm positiv a couple of hundred years from now, his works will be played in concerts like Mozart, Bach and Beethoven today.

The whole film is magical, the whole sequence of Peter remembering and flying up into the sun is a stand out moment. But I reckon that the moment Rufio recognises Peter as the true leader and authority figure and humbles himself before Pan and how Peter bows before Rufio and recognises him as a leader too is the most magical moment of all. It takes real men of honour and integrity to do that. Just magical.

The scene of Peter Pan flying through the clouds was my dream as a kid for years. I would imagine what it would be like to fly through the sky like him in that scene. Little did I know that dream would come true. I got certified as a skydiver and I was born and raised in Hawaii. I live that dream dream now and fly over Hawaii and skydive. Seeing this scene made me “remember” and reminded me when I was a kid and would watch this scene and think I could only do it in my dreams. If you haven’t skydived it doesn’t feel like your falling it feels like flying! No Falling sensation. Pretty emotional for me seeing this scene again. You earth dwellers have no idea.

The blocking in the scene where Pan picks up the sword from Rufio, brilliant!! You get to see the reverence in Rufio's eyes which makes Peter Pan all the more out-of-this-world! Ugh! The feels!!

I think one thing that made Williams perfect for roles like this was that underlying sadness. There was a sense of pathos to his performances, which made the highs (like the one in this scene) shine all the more, the sun coming through the clouds. God bless you, Robin Williams. You are missed and remembered.

The thing that I love about this movie is just that the idea is so clever and original of asking the question "what if Peter Pan grew up?" And I just love that idea so much cause to this day this is the one and only movie that every asked that question and I think that's amazing. I can't watch this movie and not smile at all the great parts to it. God i miss Robin watching it though.

Man Thud Butt was my favorite character! The way he exclaims "Peter's back!" and the moment he shared with Peter and told him about his mother are 2 of my favorite scenes. Its always a very heartfelt moment for me when Peter chose him to be the new leader. Thuds happy dance when Peter remembers who he is is also one of the most memorable moments of the film 😂. Absolutely love this film!

It strikes me all of a sudden how much tragedy there is connected to Peter Pan's character. I'm not just thinking of Robin Williams, also Bobby Driscoll dying unidentified, all the way back to Peter Llewellyn Davies who James Barrie based Peter on, who threw himself under a train.
There's something about the whole legend that makes the sadness of real life clearer.

And when Robin crows as Pan, you believe he is perfect for this and he was. They thought of everything when they made Hook. The film is perfect and this scene is perfect.

There are countless spots that give me chills in this clip, but more than any are the Lost Boys erupting in excitement at 3:15. They’d accepted Rufio as their leader and seemed resigned to Peter never returning. To them it was a ghost coming back to life.
