Hi everyone! What grade (out of 10) would you give this video?
7-8 depending on how generous I'm feeling. Great interpretation, but the story was a tad wonky.
@@Xerocki rescue a puppy 🐶
10
Music is 10. Even if you forget the film you remember the music. The fight was long, 10, and the visuals were about perfect. I give the whole movie a 9 however, since the Indians shown during the map scene were absent throughout the movie. But for the life of me I cannot see how you could include them.
It blew my mind that this movie had some negative ratings. This is literally one of my all time favorites
Why are the ratings negative
@@-pink-regina- Because critics don't understand magic.
@@-pink-regina- Because they're looking at it from an adults perspective.
Yes, as an adult you can critique the movie to death. But as a kid? We didn't care.
@@gavinlamp5426 What's negative about this movie?
I always considered this movie is to the ending to a Peter Pan story. He was taken to Neverland as a baby, raised by Tinkerbell and others. Took in lost boys who had been either orphaned or ran away from home.
Peter met Wendy and her brothers, had adventures with them, developing a bond with Wendy. Years later would have adventures with Wendy's daughter Jane. Only upon returning one last time would see Wendy's granddaughter and Jane's daughter Moira. Peter finally felt romantic love and decided to grow up and stay behind. Years later Peter had to have one final showdown with Hook, and lived the rest of his days.
Well this movie is loosely based on the epilogue that JM Barrie wrote on Peter Pan called “When Wendy Grew Up- An Afterthought” so in a way it is the ending to Peter Pan from the books, with a change to the actual ending. In the book Peter Pan never married Jane, he just kept going through the cycle with each generation of Wendy and Jane’s family in a never ending cycle. Kinda like Neverland itself
I know Peter never married Jane. I was saying that in this movie, Peter Pan grows up, finds a lover named Mora, and has a family.
3:21 I honestly think that this was partially the adult side of Peter coming through. This wasn't Peter Pan bantering with Captain Hook, but a vengeful father who wants justice.
0:28 The shadow of the fight between Hook and Peter, with this music, immediately brings the Disney film to mind. 😥
I agree. It scared me as a kid because it wasn’t the Disney film.
I love how Peter’s shadow at 0:29 is still a little kid
its not man
your mom is still a little kid
Good form!
I never noticed that 😮😮
It’s really hard to tell. Still looks like robin williams to me not his child shadow
I love how whenever Hook hears a ticking clock he suffers from PTSD caused by the Croc that was trying to eat him.
These were two amazing actors in this movie. The amount of time put into the sword training to do this long fight is incredible and shows the discipline and respect they have for their craft.
2:27
"Hello! Tick-tock, tick-tock, tick-tock; Hook's afraid of an old, dead croc!"
"I think not! I think James Hook's afraid of time ticking away."
Ironically, that was what Peter feared as a child, the slow march of time and the inevitably of death. He and Hook are not so different, yet Hook has been denied what Peter gave up, eternal youth.
Both Dustin Hoffman and Robin Williams did a good job playing their respective characters in this movie
Wow, Robin did alot of his own fencing in this, nice work.
2:01 Jack-Bad Form!
Lost Boys-Jack, Stop!
Peter: Now We End This.
That's my favorite line❤️ God rest you're Soul Robin Williams
2:14
Cpt. Hook-You Blackguard!
Everytime captain hook screams when seeing those . Clocks i laugh like crazy everytime never fails .
Best Dustin Hoffman character ever besides Rainman.
I would say Master Shifu is another great character he’s done.
@CountTentacula not familiar with that
Or Tootsie
I've always been partial to Willy Loman.
Mr. Magorium tho
This was the first Robin Williams movie I ever saw in theaters. He was Peter Pan for me. The sword fight was awesome. I don't care what the critics said. Hook was gold.
The sword fighting is repetitive - that mirrors the relationship between hook and pan before.
They’re equally matched, perhaps one gaining every so often.
It’s not until Peter can understand what responsibility and adulthood hold for him that he can actually defeat Hook.
Awww, you cut off the bit at the end when the dust clears and the croc belches (having just eaten😂)
This movie still and will forever make me cry in many ways
4:52: That devilish smile from Jack knowing that Hook's gonna die is so hilariously disturbing lmao😂😂😂
Funny thing is, I was 7 years old when I watch this movie. And I like it so much that told my mother I wanted to dress like that in carnival. My mother smiled, saying Peter Pan is easy to make, no problem. But then I replied "no, mom, I wanna be captain Hook!".
There you have my poor, blessed mother spending 3 weeks doing a perfect recreation of a XVIII century pirate for me to wear in school's carnival.
You left out the burp at the end
0:22 why does this joke make sense 😂
It’s because the last time Peter Pan fought with Captain Hook was when he was a kid.
Dustin Hoffman is by far the best live action Captain Hook 🪝🏴☠️❤❤❤
The point of the croc was this. In the OG play and book the croc represents time that leads to death. Hook fears passing time because it will lead to him dying . Smee says “once the clock runs out then he will get you.” Meaning once his time runs out hook will die like us all. Before the final battle the croc was no longer ticking because hook dies at the end.
But at the start of hook we find out hook is alive and killed the croc. Let’s use Peter Pan in scarlet to explain this. Hook used his deadly poison while in the belly to kill the beast. He then took the clock and made it an endless loop. Hook was able to stop time and his own death.
When Peter shoves hooks claw into the beast belly, the looped clock is broken. The beast spits it out and comes to life again . Once the loop is over it means hooks time is up again and the beast comes back to life . To haunt Neverland again but first unfinished business and a nap lol.
Dustin Hoffman was one of the greatest movie pirates ever. Genius performance
How was this film not a huge success?! I loved it when it came out and I thought it had been a success.
It was a success. It was in the top 10 grossing movies of the year. But it didn't make the money people thought it would
Only Robin Williams can portray a grown up Peter Pan any other actor would just seem weird and Creepy to me I think it's because in a way Robin Williams was a big kid at heart
4:50 IT'S ALIVE! IT'S ALIVE!!!!!!😮 THE TICK TOCK CROC!
SMMMMMEEEEEEEEE!
I was today years old when I learned Hook's last words were, "I want my mommy."
4:59 Hook's last final words before his death by being crocodile lunch: I want my Mommy!
High level sword fighting, way above Rufio's league, even the legendary Peter Pan struggled against Hook, and was pinned down by the Hook, only Tinker bell and his belief saved him, even without the crock though, his flying ability would have got him out of there!
Ehh only reason Peter got pinned is because he is an older pan. Slower and bigger. Pan in his youth was always to much for hook. An adult pan is a bigger target so hook was able to trip him. Plus hook started playing mind games like a coward to turn him back to banning.
Yeah people always say Rufio was holding his own against Hook but you can tell from Rufio's facial expressions during the fight he was struggling to keep up.
@digitaladventurer2142 Rufio did well, considering he was outmatched. What started to do Rufio in was his cockiness.
Hook had full garb on too against Rufio. He only took off his red coat when facing Pan, meaning business.
What a great movie
"I believe in you."
Peter Pan gets stabbed.
"But.... I believed in you!?"
2:45-2:49 i dont know why but this bit alwaus has me in stitches
"To a 10 year old, I'm huge."
I guess that crocodile finally finished the job.
I've been going through my old films and what I like is a long fight with moments of high and low. Five minutes seems to be about right, or longer if it's a battle and you have good writers and music. If the fight is under two minutes the movie usually sucks.
"I remember you being a lot bigger." "To a ten year old I'm huge."
Really?!
Jesus christ why did you have to point that out to me, I'll never unhear that
😂 oh my god thas funny
still a better sword fight than most movies nowdays
I love it when peter tells hook to take his ship and go and never want to see your in Neverland again. As if peter coming back ro Neverland once he drops his kids off home
1:24 the boy breaks the 4th wall, doesn't he ? And the other child behind does it too!
No. They are not addressing the camera. Just talking to Peter pan
5:05 WAS THAT THE BITE OF 87!?!?!?!
The Graduate Defeat 😂😂
4:27 Cue Thunder and Lightning
3:32 looks like hook was willing to die with dignity here
My sister caught my brother saying 'i believe in you' when he watched the movie, and has been mocked for life for it.
I see no problem with this...
Captain James Hook really uses that English Dish Hilt Smallsword well. Its a triangular blade that cannot cut. It can only thrust.
I think we are to think it is silver. Not a bad representation of a Smallsword
I hate to say it, Hook, but you had plenty of time to get out of the way to avoid the croc.
I miss badly Robin Williams. Great movies, great acting
i like how hook just... stood up into the not real crocodile's mouth
4:27
Even I could imagine if hopper from a bug’s life hit the statue of Horus since hopper’s afraid of birds
1:56 CAPTAIN HOOK: oh thank you-PSYCH!!!!
The fights are repetitive and balanced and unending, as they have ALWAYS been, until Peter begins to face his fear of death, of growing up, of his responsibility. To begin with even Peter forgets that he has grown up.
Key part is that he becomes truly grown up when he embraces his childhood and his adulthood equally.
Captain Hook never really lies in Hook -
Jack has never met this person before.
Their parents DO tell them stories to send them to sleep.
Peter won’t win this fight by taking his children and leaving either, some demons require confrontation.
This has to be a really good form for everyone hook realized wanted mommy that is fearless look and did it real good and quick
2:15 "you blackguard!" XD
“Daddy let’s go home please he’s just a mean old man without a mommy.”
“Yeah dad let’s go he can’t hurt us anymore.”
“I want you take your ship and go and I never want to see you in Neverland again.”
4:05
Peter look out!
FOOLS JAMES HOOK IS NEVERLAND!!!!
Just realized Pan can fence both left and right handed.
Robin seriously underrated in this movie.
"a selfish man who drinks too much, who's obsessed with success and runs and hides from his wife and children", It's harsh
DUSTIN HOFFMAN
ROBIN WILLIAMS

idk how this movie didn't get better reviews at the time
Dudtin Hoffman remains the best live action Hook in my rankings. Jason Isaacs did well, and Jude Law carried the latest movie. But Hoffman just had something the other two didn’t.
I've never understood the crocodile in this. It was mentioned in the beginning that hook finally killed the croc and stuffed it, basically taxidermy.
So since that was the case, how in the hell did it just suddenly come back to life and then devour hook?
Does anyone know?
I never understood it to. It never explained it really. I always thought that the crocodile was always playing dead and fooling Hook to believe he was dead and waiting for the right moment to get him and this was it. It waited before after Peter took Hooks hand and feed it to the crocodile and waited until he had his moment to strike at him. I know that probably a dumb reason but it the only thing I can think of. I wish the people who made this film explain it later after the film was out.
@@RTaylor1505 That's why when disposing of crocodiles and carpenters both, dismember the carcass. Why taxidermy it, when you can eat it? Better to eat than be eaten. Better to betray than be betrayed. The meat is usually served as a steak or in a stir-fry. The texture of crocodile meat is similar to that of chicken or fish. The only possible issue is that people who have fish allergies also react the same to crocodile meat, but I'd like to think that a pirate wouldn't have that issue.
I believe it’s the vengeful spirit of the croc possessing its corpse for one last time. Ba-dum-tish!
This 😂is much better than the soulless boring remake of disney 2023
True
If you want to watch a good live action, Peter Pan remake, go and watch Hook.
Man he came to his end what a thing when he said thus perished Peter Pan nope it was him who perished instead.
Cant believe peter was the neverland harbor butcher
2:14 : Tick Tock The Crocodile 🐊 ⏰️!!
I swear one of Hoffmans best performances.
Classic movie
How is it possible that Jim and Pete know how to fight
Well Hook is a pirate and they typically know how to swordfight even by learning as they go. Peter even though playing to some degree always fought against Hook so he'd learn that way.
@@digitaladventurer2142, his memories also came back when he realized who he was
How is it possible you don't know the answer to this question?
Robin and Dustin should learn some lessons before the playing
Peter Pan is a highly skilled swordsman that his fencing skills rival even those of Captain Hook. Pan is the only one whom can go the distance with Hook and the latter's pirates are no match in a one-on-one duel with Peter Pan.
❤❤❤😂😂😂😂😂
Hook is certainly not dead
I Am 22 years old and ask myself why are so many humans my age _____.
Endless Tolerance!!!
Its funny the fight choreography in this isnt half bad for these two guys who dont do action roles
Ok how did the crocodile come back to life?
They must haave been feeding it a little i guess
@@viczilla24dreamer51 that such a so stupid theory
@@hankking9007 meh, i tried
It had some unfinished business: Eat Captain Hook.
There are two theories. One, the fairy touched the hook before it touched the crocodile. Two, Neverland works on believing, Hook was scared of the crocodile and always scared of it coming after him even after it was dead so he must have “believed” it back to life.
0:31 reminds me about star wars a bit.
It seems to me that this is a reference to the duel between Robin Hood and Guy of Gisborne with Erol Flynn.
It's that John Williams score. Has a very similar vibe to The Phantom Menace and the battle of Naboo.
What would the world be like without Captain Hook? Better.
Should have just run hook through and said this is for Ruffio.
Master shifu vs Genie the magic lamp.
Told you not to get up
without captain hook i want my mommy
Peter Pan VS Captain Hook CLIP 🔥 4K
Is Hook Neuro Diverse?
non woke movies are the best
This movie is full of cringe.
Remember when we put that cow at the top of that staircase... saving existence...🌬️🤯
