Jason Isaacs played both the father and hook. Symbolizes how children see their parents at times. Very clever and underrated and hardly is pointed out. Also Jeremy will always be my Pan and Disney’s remake is an abomination and completely misses the essence of everything that makes up Neverland.
The same actor playing Mr. Darling Hook is a theatre tradition going sing the beginning. This is the best version made.

Although the Disney version of Captain Hook I feel is the version most people are gonna think of when they think of Captain Hook given how iconic he is.
Which no fault of these filmmakers of Jason Issacs they were just dealing with a film and version of hook that was 50years old at the time this came out.
Then you get older and realize how full of shit you were they were kids too so no doubt you learn from experience unfortunately some people don't.
I always see Dustin Hoffman as Hook.
I love the idea that Neverland island is subject to Peter Pan emotions

This was already my favourite Peter Pan adaptaion but since Peter Pan & Wendy came out it made my appreciate it even more.
Yes. I haven’t seen the newest version, but I don’t plan to. It destroys the story in the name of “strong independent wahmen”, and castrates all male characters. I hate what Disney has become. I’m glad we have this movie.
This will be forever my favorite version. Disney should feel ashame of themselves since this was from another studio that produced and made this movie happen.
@@KevvoLightswift It's a Meh movie. The best part is that Peter Pan and Captain Hook's feud has a backstory which is the best part, Jude Law and Jim Gaffigan have terrific performances and the ending is great but that's about it apart from a few other things.
My biggest gripe with the 2023 movie is how the Lost Boys don't have much of a role, are flat and one sided, and if you took them out of the movie you wouldn't change much.
My favorite adaptation was hook even though its not a one for one retelling of the original story. But I love thus movie as a kid

Disney made their live action remake 20 years later after this one, but that one was horrible. This will always be the best adaptation. I mean, Robin Williams' Hook movie is a classic Peter Pan movie too that will never get old either. But for a film that actually adapts the story itself without just telling a different tale involving the characters, this is the best adaptation.

This was a pretty overlooked movie. I remember the adults at the time in 2003 who grew up on the 1953 adaption were critical of this, for its somewhat sensual overtones and unexpected violence. Which is the same reasons us become a cult classic. Even as a preteen, I appreciated the films, more mature violence. And I believe it’s one of the more faithful, and probably as of now the best live action, adaption of Peter Pan. It was much more faithful to it’s material then the 2015 film…

How the tables have turned, 20 years ago parents thought the romance between a young 12 year old boy and girl and a simple kiss was too much for their children, nowadays if they aren't twerking and f*cking like pigs we're not sexually educating our new generations. Retrospectively this film was very sweet and innocent. It really made me feel as a child that I wanted love in my life.

I was so disappointed in the new film. Every review and post I make I highly suggest this film as the better alternative. I even messaged Jeremy Sumpter telling him. This is a beautiful film with a musical score that should be more cherished than it is. We all should start a movement to get this film the appreciation it deserves!
@Luke-qq8gkI think this was inspired by the direction Hook took in many ways, I think they both bring fantastic things to the table. It's clear that Jason Isaacs took some inspiration from Dustin Hoffman which I really appreciate

This one far surpasses the new upcoming disney live action remake. Honestly in my opinion the best live action ons out of all of them. Coarse Hook was good too but that one is after Peter Pan grew up so dont really count that one. Very good sequel and Robin Williams is one of the many things that makes the movie shine
Wendy is the true hero. Her kiss made Peter happy which gave him the ability to fly again. He also knew that Wendy loved him along and always will.
And her growing up would not change anything

This is the best Peter Pan movie. The producers and director got everything right from the cast to the story and the sceneries and beautiful special effects everything is right. Not like some recent adaptation that got caught in the wk sh!$t and never make it to the big screen it got directly to their stream service

For me and for many others, this will always be my favorite version of the story, even 20 years later after I watched it I still feel the nostalgia of watching it with my parents.

No, it's pretty deserved.
As well as the implication that he _let_ the crocodile eat him because Peter's taunting got to him. (Compare that with the book, where Peter kicks Hook into the crocodile's mouth, but Hook doesn't really mind because he thinks Peter lowered himself to his level by doing that.)

This movie is so underrated with just an amazing cast. I love everything of Peter Pan, from the camera frames, to the cast, and the fairy dust. This movie would be a lot different with Zac Efron playing peter pan. Jeremy Sumpter and Jason Isaacs's back and forth made this movie even more amazing.

I would say that this Peter Pan film is my favorite live adaptation so far, although the derogatory comments that I have seen so far about the brand new Peter Pan that Disney is putting out has been very concerning, I’m hoping when the film comes out it will be a lot more bright and saturated in tone. But honestly there has been already so many Peter Pan adaptations that I was hoping that they would focus on a different fairytale and then come back to Peter Pan at a different time.

This and Hook are my two favorite Peter Pan movies. Obviously with the ending they chose in this one where Peter doesn't come back they don't really fit together but that was ok with me. Both told a story I enjoyed.
