Sustaining permanent lung damage, in 2020, frm both Covid19 pneumonia and bacterial pneumonia, inhalers are now part of my everyday life. Always good to have reminder on proper usage ~ ☀️♥️
I ended up in the emergency room last year with the regular flu, pneumonia, sepsis, racing heart, enlarged heart and enlarged lungs. Yesterday I switched from Spiriva and Symbicort to Trelegy.
Thanks for your tutorial! I don't need it all the time but today with the lawn being cut I could feel that I should use it ...had to look at your video that I saved, thanks again!
I would like to interject for just a moment to tell you my take on it. I'm certainly not a doctor but Ive been an RN for 25 years. For 15 plus years I worked in the hospital then specialized pediatric Home Care and now a school nurse. So I use these inhalers with my students daily. For young children I actually have an alternative way of doing it. I have them, if they are actively wheezing, sit upright with their hands, both on top of their head. Open up the rib cage. I then do one pump, inhale and hold for 10 seconds. I wait a minute. Then we do the second. Same way. If a student does not have a spacer it is very difficult for them not to lose some of the medication unfortunately due to a bad seal or due to them not holding it. Using this technique, I feel like it allows the medication to go completely down into the lungs deeply. Even for adults, even for my children, I encourage them to do one pump with the deep breath and wait 10 seconds. Wait a minute or two and then do the second. Afterwards I always encourage splash of water on the face followed by rinsing of the mouth. Thrush can be a major side effect for those that are in a flare and using these inhalers or nebulizers or a regular basis for a period of time.
should i breathe out through my nose or mouth, or does it not matter? i've seen videos where it recommends breathing out through the nose. thank you :)
Those who has asthma I recommend to take high dose of vitamin D3 about 20,000 IU along with complex of magnesium to activate vitamin D3 and vitamin K2 complex to absorb everything. Good luck on your journey! It should help you to forget about your asthma and live regular life again. 👍 This sprays are only temporary symptoms relief and nothing more than that. 🤔
Im not a huge supplement fan for most people, but agree vitamin d and magnesium are great options for many reasons. The ‘reliever’ inhalers only give temporary relief (but can be life-saving’, whereas the ‘preventers’ are important for keeping asthma under control.
Quit smoking for 2 months already, and my doctor gave me Berodual inhaler, ask me tu use it if i have shortness of breath...can i stop using the inhaler in the future i my shortness of breath improve or no more ? Thanks Doc
Hi, I just got an inhaler today, I am using Breztri, I tried to do what it says in your video but I have an aftertaste and a little numbness on my cheeks. I did rinse with water and brushed my teeth. I’m scared of thrush. What am I doing wrong? Also, how soon after using inhaler can you eat?
I’ve had asthma for years and the worst part about using an inhaler is when your coughing and then have to hold your breath, it’s so hard to not cough right after
Ideally, your preventative inhaler means your coughing should be under control and you only rarely need to use your reliever inhaler. I know that’s easier said than done!
Proper use for best effect is to use it with an aero chamber, otherwise a majority of the medication hits the back of the throat and never makes it into the lungs.
I use one. However it's not just a case of breathing it in. You need to keep breathing and expanding your lungs so it hits the upper part of the lung. If not you only do half a job
It been a week since i got my inhaler do you hv any tips how to lower it Im very scared bc i mostly get attacks in night during sleeping What should i do?
You need to get advice from a healthcare professional. It’s vital you get the right treatment to control your asthma and you should have a plan so you know how to manage it.
Studies have shown that most adults who are correctly using inhalers do not benefit from spacers: www.jaci-inpractice.org/article/S2213-2198(16)30584-0/abstract I like to minimise plastic waste, but if some people want a spacer and find it helpful, then that’s also fine.
Wish mine worked that well. I’m on 2 different inhalers, but it doesn’t matter cause I actually have MCAS so inhalers do nothing for me! 😑😔 Pulmonologist wanted me to go on an injectable medication for Eosinophilic Asthma. Why? When because I have MCAS it will only treat 1 symptom and not all the other ones that plague me every. Single. Day. 😭
Asthma symptoms appear gradually and include wheeze, tight chest and a cough. Get checked out if you’re not sure. Viral coughs come on quickly and can have similar symptoms, but settle again.
My question is, you prime it when it's new, I was recently told by a nurse that if I don't use it for about four or five days (Ventolin) to prime it as if it was new. She said that I was probably only getting propellant and not medication which is why I felt it was doing nothing. I know with COPD the effect isn't instantaneous like with asthma and I have a spacer to help with delivery, I also know to shake it. So true or false?
hey! I just recently started using an inhaler, I've been doing it for three days now, and I kinda got the hang of it? But I'm struggling to keep my tongue down and not touch the roof of my mouth while trying to inhale, it's causing the medicine to not go down and just get caught on my tongue, if anyone had some advice that would be awesome!
You don't hold your inhaler the way I learned. I learned that you have to hold the bottom with your thumb and press the canister down with two fingers.
Hi! I’m a doctor 👩🏻⚕️☺️. Evidence shows that for most adults who are using inhalers correctly, there is no benefit to a spacer. Let’s save the environment and reduce plastic waste!

Thanks for sharing this, it certainly makes sense and yes, rinsing out the mouth after to prevent thrush is important too 👍🏻

Doctor taught me that nose is better because it automatically makes u breathe out more slowly
Thanks. It helps me a lot.
After using it, you should also rinse your mouth with water to prevent oral candidiasis no?
Yes, that is a good idea. This video is about inhaler technique only!
Thanks for your video! Helped in emergency...i can breathe better now...also , i learnt to put it by myself.

Thank you for sharing last Thursday the doctor gave me 2 one blue one brown

@DrSophieGP Yes thank you
Hey, do you wash your mouth out after so you don’t get those white things on your tounge?
If you’re using a steroid inhaler, rinsing your mouth with water and spit it out afterwards can help prevent oral thrush.

Doctor How many inhaler puffs is OK to take only 1 puff or we can take more than 1 puff at a time ?
It depends on your inhaler and prescription, often it is two.
Doc..pliz suggest me best inhaler medicine for bronchial asthama..My age is 33....
Lots of good options, but not the same for everyone, so please get an asthma review from a healthcare professional
This can be life saving
Yes, sadly, there are many deaths from asthma every year, so I really hope this helps lots of people.
As I depress my inhaler, I breathe in as far as I can. I count to 10, and I try to breathe in just a little bit more and then I exhale.
Sounds good
Thank you🙏🏽
Thank u so much it really helped best doctor ever❤❤❤

Gorgeous! And helpful info. 😃

Thank you for this! I was just prescribed an Inhaler to use and this demo helped! How often does it need to be primed?
Great! If you’re using it daily it won’t need to be primed, but worth it if it’s new, or you’ve not used it for quite a few days.
Thank you!!
Thank you

You need to consult your healthcare team for an asthma review.

There are lots of variations, so speak to your health care provider to find out what is most suitable.

When we can use this in empty stomach or after lunch??
Check your instructions, but usually meal timings are not relevant
Thank you so much. Asthma sucks😢
Yes, it really does!
Ohhh I dropped mine in dirt and it made my asthma even worse thx for the tip
"prime" yeah right 😂 I NEED ALL the puffs
You might not get all the puff if you don’t prime it (might not need to unless not used it regularly)!
How many minutes interval do you need before you can have your second puff?
Thank you.
As soon as you are ready

Try not to focus on swallowing, but rather counting to hold your breath, then as soon as the time is up, you can swallow then.
