I put up with a floppy visor for a few years finally ordered from amazon $44. super fast delivery and super fast replacement thanks to you. Great video !
I love how it’s a woman that made this video about fixing something on your car!!! It shows how simple it is to fix this and that anybody can do it themselves. 👍🏼
lol! I have a 2008 Hyundai Sonata and the same visor as depicted had the very same issue, brittle plastic insert arm broke. I got my replacement for about 40 dollars on Amazon. I had my broken visor tied up with a small bungee cord. The new visor it was really easy to do the install as the video shows, even I dropped a screw like the woman did. thank you to the person who posted this video.
Super THANKFUL for you sharing this Tammy. I was given a $200 quote by a mechanic and thought 'there's gotta be a YT video on how to do it yourself', that's when your video popped up. I think this took 3 minutes start-to- finish. Yippee!
Tammy, thanks for posting this. Tomorrow I am going to change out my boyfriend's visors, both of which broke. Trying to keep them up with various types of tape has been useless. I purchased the visors after watching your video and will probably video my installation process as well. Hope it works as easily for me as it seemed to for you!
You're welcome Yvonne. I'm not sure if I remember this correctly but weren't you the one who e-mailed me saying you were going to video tape yourself replacing them? If so, go ahead and attach a link of some sort here.........if that wasn't you, oops, sorry, thanks for your comment and I hope all went well.
Much rather see how it is done than guess at it. Not complicated, but now I shouldn't create any more damage. Thanks Tammy.
Hey! You did an incredible job!!! I had to laugh because it is my wife’s car that I am replacing this visor for. When I saw that it was a lady doing the work I rushed over to my wife and said...”Hey! Honey! You can do this!...” well she didn’t rush to fix the visor...(whaaaa whaaa whaaa). Thanks so much for a great teaching moment!
Your video is so helpful! My friend had explained it to me and assured me it was simple, but now I can see it is!
On a side note, I applaud you for doing an alleged "man's job". I wish I could say I learned lots of car DIY because I am an empowered woman, but the truth is that I'm just uber frugal. If I can get it done for less, I will. Anyway, keep on doing what you're doing!
thanks for the video, really helped an annoying problem.
UPDATE: I just sold the 2006 Sonata in November 2017 and wanted to let everyone know that the sun visor was working just as good as the day I replaced it back in June 2013. Thank you all for the wonderful feedback. It is much appreciated.
You did great. Very helpful video. 💜
Does the vanity light work?
@@chekkygurl182 Yes it worked......sorry, I just didn't think to open it by the time I finished replacing it.
you can go on RUclips for everything! I'm having the same problem with both but my drivers side is now even worse I don't feel safe while driving I'll have to give this a try with new ones
Thank you, Tammy! I just changed mine with your help. You're the best ❤
Nice job- very clear explanation. I need to replace both visors; your video is very helpful. Thanks.
Sorry to hear you needed both visors replaced, am glad to hear I helped you out in some small way. Thanks for watching.
Thanks for the video. My 2006 visors have been flopping for years. Now I'm going to replace them thanks to your video.
Thank you so much! I saw the wire when I first took it off and I was like.... I better not touch it. Thank you!
I was using Velcro as well lol!!! Thank you for this video 10000x likes!!
im at the dealer right now. I asked them how much to replace. Ummm no. I will do it myself. I am going to buy it on Amazon for $41 x 2 (driver and passenger). Thanks for the video
Thank you Tammy now I know where to place my velcro until i get my replacement visor
You just saved us $200+ !
Thank you. This was very helpful.
Thank you Denice.........I'm glad to help.
It also happened on my 2008 Kia Optima. Kia wanted $300 to replace. I said they're faulty and then said no. Good thing we have ebay and youtube to show us how to do it ourselves for a quarter of the price that they want to charge us.
Thank you! We knew it had to be easy! We
Thank you Tammy.
I didn't think to use Velcro. I was using a binder clip on the hinge to keep it from flopping in my face.
THANK YOU!!
Thanks!!
Thanks. This was helpful.Use a bigger than average (#3) Phillips screwdriver, I you have it. Also the screws can be annoyingly difficult to align when re-installing. I had to use a good flashlight to help see the right position.
Hi Tammy, can you confirm which year Hyundai Sonata this is? I have a 2009 and have heard that it's different than 2008 and earlier. Just curious which year you are fixing. Thanks!
BIG THX :)
Here's a BIG WELCOME :)
Can you please provide the web address of where you got the visor online the local dealer wants $100 for one.
+Donald Mytnik I found it on Ebay for $41.99. The seller is TECHNICA and it ships from Korea. That was 2 weeks ago. Latest tracking shows it at the USPS facility in Moreno Valley, CA.
Thanks for the video. At $43, I'm willing to replace it myself vs going to the dealer for a potentially free replacement via recall. But, will the replacement OEM visor also be defective as was the original? Any thoughts?
Well, the day I published this video is the day I installed the new visor. So it's only been a little over a year and it's still good. All I can tell you is, I assume it will break again some time in the future, but by that time I'm sure I won't own the car anymore. I hope this helps and thanks for watching.
useful! :)
Thanks!❤
