You need more education my young friend. You have shown your Igbocentric views already. The events in the Western region was capitalised on by all the other regional political leaders. Nothing happens in a vacuum. Coups are always tribal because of the trust factor. You need people you can trust. All the military coups were Northern coups with the exception of Jan 66 coup which was an Igbo coup. There is nothing wrong with an Igbo coup. Don't be too sensitive about this fact. Igbo commentators often cite the fact that a Yoruba officer participated as proof it was not an Igbo coup. He could have been trusted by the masterminds. He could also have been a useful idiot out of his depth at the Machiavellian shenanigans of his co-conspirators and their regional political backers. Igbo officers commanded mainly Northern soldiers to assassinate all other political leaders and military officers except their own. What did Maimalari, Ademulegun and other senior officers do? That was a tragic mistake that has had devastating consequences for innocent Igbo people and still reverberating in the political space till today. Azikiwe was conveniently on a world cruise at the time of the coup. Igbo just lost out in the power equation in Nigeria. Obasanjo never participated in any coup. Azikiwe did not get Nigeria independence all by himself. He was part of a nationalist movement with people like Herbert Macaulay, Awolowo, Akintola, Enahoro and the likes. Awolowo only said that if the East was allowed to secede then the West will also go. How did that amount to agreeing with Ojukwu to break off from Nigeria. Don't forget that these early Nigerian leaders especially Southern leaders were very idealistic about the future of Nigeria and Africa as a whole. They also believed they can dominate the North. Azikiwe agreed to a coalition with the North because he believed his party had more to gain from the alliance. Nothing wrong with that. The independence regional leaders in fact, I believe, regret in their later years of not forming separate countries at independence. We are paying the price for their idealism today.
I've read what Awo, ojukwu, gowon, obasanjo's books on Biafra war, , but my question is, Ojukwu and gowon agree on something in Aburi, why did gowon decline on their agreement in Aburi ? For the Yoruba and anybody that cares to know, I'm an igbo man and I will not beg for any useless unity from Yoruba or Fulani, enough of all these useless explanations, We want Biafra, Yoruba's if you guys are not unity bergers, ask for Oduduwa, and let's stop all these useless stories,Awolowo say , ojukwu say,
Please go read Awo on Nigeria civil war that will expand your knowledge
Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe once said in his West African Pilot that "Yorubas must not be allowed to rule over others in Nigeria".
Prove it.
Remember one of the reason they join us together, the north was poor and they need to use the wealth of the south and develop the north
Namidi Askwe helped Nigeria to gain independence that was wrong
Broda ijaws are not Biafrans, try do more research on it.
