Totally agree that the narrator has a soft spot for Shagari. The long list of "achievements" was embarrassing as they related to the delivery if projects rather than benefits to the people who elected them I was bemused that Shangai is credited with the Kaduna refinery which opened a few months after he assumed office and was obviously developed under the previous regime. However the most glaring omission is the failure to mention that in 1983, Shagari was elected to a second term in elections that were more blatantly rigged than those of 1979! As a university undergraduate at the time I can attest that while I'm not an advocate of military coups, the country was not up in arms about Shagar'is government being overthrown.

I love this channel but after this Shagari's story, you made me a firm believer of no one can tell history without being biased. This Shagari's story, I know it like the back of my hands. I believe you did not make your research well or something. Shagari ran the economy down and Nigeria was on an austerity program, per capita income in Nigeria slid from about $1,100 in 1982 to less than $300. If this is an Igbo man or Hausa saying this trash, it is pardonable. This is the reason why Yorubas will never grow even when they are the most educated

I learned that Buhari was GOC in Jos at the time and he didn’t agree with Shagari’s decision of withdrawal of troops from our border in the NE, (some-extremist group) and some of Shagari’s contacts wanted lesser military prescience in the borders as they were smugglers.
I don’t know if Buhari had any genuine reasons whatsoever which I doubt but this video made me appreciate Shagari a bit more.
