It is actually $197 NOW on the San Martin Store! s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_Dm0hrOn
Everyone is always making the “Skx killer” the “Tudor killer” the “Seiko killer” etc. No one ever makes them though. It’s so dry, it’s a San Martin. It’s a clone of a great watch, an homage.
I just picked up GS sbgx265 absolutely love it! To see San Martin going the extra mile with Zaratsu polishing even if it's Sub par is incredible. I bought the green Longines conquest gmt San Martin homage and gave it to my Dad on his birthday he absolutely loved it. Nicely finished on the fly adjustment, great lume, NH34. I think I paid 220-240 usd. Just can't beat the value. I ordered this after watching your video for just over $170 usd. I don't even care about the lume. See how it feels and maybe in the future get the real deal. I think people take watches too seriously. Buy what you like... it's just a hobby. All the best to you and keep making great content!!
well said!
I totally didn’t expect bad lume from San Martin…
same for my first san martin was disappointed
It looks like a watch 99.9% of people won't recognize unless they notice the San Martin name.
But you will!
Good review buddy. Been looking at this model for a while and after watching your review i'm going to grab it. The on the fly clasp was all the incentive i needed... Cheers...
Glad I could help. I have it linked in the top comment I found it cheaper than what I paid $197 believe it or not
San Martin are starting to produce a lot of original designs as well. Their quality is incredible for the price and it’s constantly getting better.
Strange on the lume, usually SM kills it. Maybe the coloring they used diminishes it.
yeah my first san martin experience with the lume not great. Phoibos destroys in the lume department always 15 layers of bgw9. blue glows less intense and still crushes the comp.
I want a Seiko...not a clone!
good to get as a test watch before you take the deep plunge of the real deal. If you can wear this watch for 3 months straight and still love it, go ahead and buy the real deal.
This a seiko tho....it just doesn't say it on the dial
@@EscapementWatchsorry but this reply is shocking. Where is your morality? You are promoting f*ckers now? What's the next step? Buy a Rolex replica before the real deal? Please stop. RUclips is already full of channels talking about these AliExpress thefts. We don't need another one 😔
The expensive limited edition of a discontinued watch you mean? To each his own.
It’s not game over for Seiko. Years from now Seiko will still be releasing watches that many consider overpriced but will still buy them. Their crowns for the Prospex line will still be unsigned, alignment hit or miss, but people will still buy them. Movement accuracy will still be in question but they will be around long after all of us are dead. Seiko, like Rolex, don’t care what customers think or want. Their products will always sell and they know it. That’s such a boss freaking move I can’t help but respect it 💯
Watching this video while wearing this exact San Martin. Absolutely incredible watch, except for the bracelet which neither suits the design nor fills in the lugs completely. Sizing is also tough without half links
Thanks for sharing!
Anyone know ever dived into trying to add lume to a bad lume watch? Would the paste just stick to the markers lume?
The watch itself seems fine enough, but I think pales in comparison to their recent Longines HC GMT-alike watch. What I do think could be really interesting here is using this case as a modding platform. Obviously you'd have to pull the crystal and bezel off to do it, but it could look really interesting with something like an SPB105 dial in there.
i saw that I'm tempted to buy that one next!
are you sitting in Bioshock Rapture?! What a game that was...
yes!
Greatly appreciate your refined attention to detail and beautiful footage! I only know a handful of Chinese brands - Seagull, San Martin, Baltany, Merkur, Pagani. Any opinion on which is the best Chinese watchmaker?
Most people say san martin. But check out Phoibos they are pretty good for price/quality/ and always have strong lume.
In my opinion Seiko has an identity problem. It started out as a company making quality watches at affordable prices. They have been left in the dust by a number of brands, and just don't understand the watch buyers of today. You can get a sapphire crystal on a 40.00 watch all day long but, the grossly outdated Hardlex just hasn't cut it since the 90s. Replacing an iconic dive watch with a watch you can't even dive with. I won't even go in to the 1 percenter Grand Seiko no one can afford. I have worn Seiko since 1972, and love em, but, they are three decades behind what today's consumer want in an affordable, quality watch. Thanks.
San Martin monobloc dive watch is superbly finished with quality look. Value for money!!!❤
Haha, Seiko har some great history! Nearly destroyed the Swiss watch market… so Seiko is a pretty Badass brand. If i want great lume, cool designs, reliable movements, heritage, then i choose Seiko. If it has missalignment, i fix it. If it has hardlex, ill change it if so👌🏼
✌✌😉😉
This model has been available for a while, it wouldn't take much to perfect it from SM. They are clearly capable!
Seiko marine master fan here, have the sbdx012, the sla045 and sla047... I can't deny that SM knows how to make watches well at prices that i can't understand... So either Seiko is overpriced or whats the catch here ?!
I am also liking your reviews, and appreciate your efforts and honesty.
Glad you are enjoying the reviews
Waaaiiitttt , did i just see a nh35 movement running at 0spd . Wow! If only Seiko regulated their movements, atleast in their high end SLA offerings with the 8L35 movement, it would crush all the competition in that price range , cuz all i see is people criticising seiko SLA offerings saying an unregulated movement at that price is unacceptable .
I have this San Martin watch. It is an excellent timepiece. It looks so much better in person.
they really need to do something about their logo...just makes all their watches cheap looking
So ... San Martin or Fifty Four?
san martin
Interesting! And why?
I think I would prefer the 54. because it has more of a vintage vibe I think.
its smaller, not a true monobloc, and if I'm remember my review from last year of the 54, the San martin has better finishing on the inside. Plus the San martin is CHEAPER!!!! ruclips.net/video/eJVvtWTyJs8/видео.html&ab_channel=Escapement%26Watch
The older version of this san martin watch, the SN086G has insane lume. It isn't a monobloc case but I see that as a positive.
You should have added the fiftyfour SLA025 in titanium grade 5 here.
reviewed that last year! a great smaller option. But this one is more true to the sla
@@EscapementWatchI know you did
The san martin logo is horrendous, which ironically, is the only original design on the watch 😂. I woll say its better then their old logo. Now that I think aboit it, the brand name isn't good ha
You can buy this watch without the logo
Your closeups reveal dust on the dial 😮
Believe it or not, I've seen worse from major brands. The applied indices are pretty good as well.
My only experience with San Martin: misaligned bezel, -15spd movement, and unevenly finished applied indices as seen by the naked eye. The watch left me thinking SM are obsessed checking materials boxes at the expense of a genuine feel for what materials, colors, and textures make a watch design feel cohesive in the metal. They make everything shinier and glossier to the point that it looks try-hard, disjointed, and cheap, like a mall watch. My SM was $170-ish, so I guess I should’ve been more impressed with all the letdowns.
Yeah, how dare Seiko charge more for producing original designs, providing customer support and building a retail network so you can try on the actual watch you want to buy, and providing an easy way to return it if needed.
I own a San Martin, and it's pretty good. but if SM had the same overhead as Seiko they'd cost damn near the same as Seiko.
Two words for u buddy. Hardlex crystal😂. Gtfoh Seiko is trash. They’ll make a $1,000 dress watch and put Hardlex on it
Don't buy the clone 😂😂😂 u will regret it! Buy the real one.
And even more important, Don't support brands that copy and paste!
This one will set you back $250. It s fraction of the price.
You get what you pay for. In Rolex, in Seiko, in San Martin. As cycling Legend Greg Lemond said: "If it looks to good to be true - that's because it IS too good to be true😆
The logo says it all: Way too big for the dial, looks like something on the front of a russian lorry and the name sounds like a tropical Island
If you can’t afford the real thing, work harder/smarter and make more money.
A lot of assholes don't work hard or smart, and have money not in spite of being an asshole, but directly because of it.😅
What if u can afford it but u just don’t want to be robbed of your money by Seiko
the problem with san martin is the brand. Lot of clones makes you a idiot!
Seiko is better. The name San Martin sounds cheap. Like an island in the Caribbean 😂. Definitely sounds cheap. Everyone wants to beat a seiko but to no avail 😂😂😂😂
Seiko trash
When people can’t afford something they usually bash it. That’s what Broke people do to convince themselves to buy a San Martin. 😂😂😂
Seiko is trash though
