63mas came out with SPB149 when I made a video about it years ago. The reasoning: the original 62mas uses its first to numbers in its movement to for the name. and 6R35 was just released back then so I said 63 as its the first 2 numbers. The only watch I call 62 mas are the reissues of the 62mas and the original.
@EscapementWatch Thanks for the clarification. There are too many "mas" references for my taste. I consider them all reinterpretations of the original 62mas, including the SPB453 I just purchased.
yes it looks like a hair off. But interestingly when I go to 1-2minutes pasted 12 you can see the hour hand tip then passes 12. Could be an illusion of the handset (half polish half brushed)

The very small changes to the watch head dimensions are surprisingly noticeable on the wrist, it does wear a little smaller, is a tad more comfortable on my 7.5" wrist and the bracelet is definitely an improvement. Thumbs up for your video. As with the subject of the video... I'm still not sold on the new 6R55 movement. And, your explanation that it is essentially the same as the previous 6R35 is not encouraging. The current state of the 6R movements and the poor clasp with ugly dive extension which is useless for nearly all of us as well as restricting good articulation of the bracelet to rest flat when placed on a table top all make me hold off from any Seiko dive watch purchases until they satisfactorily address both. I might have been inclined to spend significantly more to go with the new Marine Master with 6L movement. BUT, the same crappy clasp situation will hold me back. I want the COMPLETE package from Seiko divers. Plenty of other watches to enjoy until then... If that day will ever come.
Sorry for the confusion. The list that pops up on the top left says "last gen measurements" so you guys can compare. but the moving animation with watch in hand is the new one: 46.4mm. Last generation is 47.5mm @4:30 (previous generations full measurements) Hope that clears it up.
No I have a 147 and a 451 the 451 feels of higher quality and better finished, except if you are the type to equate heft and weight with quality, then the previous generation is better.
This is only a small bump in price over the cheaper $1000 Citizen Promaster Fujitsubo Automatic diver watch. While that Citizen watch has a decent titanium bracelet it looks and feels cheap compared to this more expensive Seiko Watch. That gorgeous blue dial is what I really like with this Seiko diver watch. I would only buy one of these new these new Seiko 63MAS divers if I could get a decent discount.
I still prefer the older model (only 1st gen as they dont have hideous lume on minute track at 3), i cant stand the date at 4.30 and what they brag about 3 days pr. Its a must buy for me if no date and just written “automatic 300m” cuz damn they look good. 😂
Wish there were proper matte versions of these - and the proof I’m not alone is the bajillions of photos that hide the reflections on both the blue & black versions. I blame you reviewers for years of constantly banging on about “gorgeous sunburst” dials when really what everyone wants is deep matte dials & bezels that absorb every reflection from a 20 mile radius ;)
They only build what sells! Reviewers especially me with ZERO INFLUENCE are not to blame. Blame your fellow watch enthusiasts. I love sunray dials hoping seiko adds it to the new marinemasters. :) But I also love matte dials(not many can do this well without looking cheap) Squale just made a beauty go check it out.
@@EscapementWatch I looked up the Squale but it just illustrates how good Seiko is at designing simple but gorgeous dials. Tudor also know what sells. There’s no way an SPB with a matte finish wouldn’t fly off the shelves. The reason so many people photograph them without the reflections (probably without even realising it) is obviously because they prefer that aesthetic. I think reviews count for a lot more than you think. Not individually, but collectively & over time. 👍

So is the l2l 46.4, or 47.4?
watch the video my man! I show dimensions for both old and new full details.
@EscapementWatch i did watch it, brother. You said 46.4mm but on the screen it said 47.4mm. Ill rewatch it, maye i made a mistake.
Sorry for the confusion. The list that pops up on the top left says "last gen measurements" so you guys can compare. but the moving animation with watch in hand is the new one: 46.4mm. Last generation is 47.5mm @4:30 (previous generations full measurements) Hope that clears it up.
@EscapementWatch yeah, my fault. Great review brother, as always 👍
Thanks for watch appreciate you long time subs.
Do Seiko offer any reasonably priced diver with ceramic bezel insert?
These 3 Seikos: ruclips.net/video/dQPLVX20hnU/видео.html
@@EscapementWatch thanks mate :) too bad that citizen don’t have divers with ceramic insert. It’s must have for a beater watch for me..
Great review.
Thanks!
Great video. Really appreciate the detailed comparison and on-screen graphics!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Hi, which one is better Seiko SPB451 or Longines Hydroconquest L3.781.4.96.6?
Hydro
Good review! 👍
Glad you liked it
Shock proof/resistant?....i need this kind of watch
Is the secret measurement and therefore dial size any different to the previous generation?
I believe they are the same. But I'm not 100% confirmed.
@@EscapementWatch did you ever do a secret measurement of the previous gen?
i dont think i was doing it back then, sorry
Why the black dial is on strap only ? Is it available with bracelet ? Is it regulated or they just throw it at us with their atrocious -10/+25 ?
black dial comes on bracelet
@@EscapementWatch link to check it ? Edit still waiting
I think its size is better than spb143 but unfortunately it looks cheaper. Previous 62mas reissues look much more elegant.
No I have a 147 and a 451 the 451 feels of higher quality and better finished, except if you are the type to equate heft and weight with quality, then the previous generation is better.
I wish I could have one but I'm poor and can't have one but I'm still going to get a plastic watch 😢
I like your new visual setup very much. Congratulations 🎉
thanks its an ai background I designed using an app. I will be using it for awhile when I do intros.
Are you even allowed to be a watch RUclipsr without that “A MAN AND HIS WATCH” book somewhere in every video?
Its against the law to not have it.
Want more vids of these
I still prefer the older model (only 1st gen as they dont have hideous lume on minute track at 3), i cant stand the date at 4.30 and what they brag about 3 days pr. Its a must buy for me if no date and just written “automatic 300m” cuz damn they look good. 😂
I hate the round date aperture and its placement. A 6 o’clock or 3 o’clock date window would be fine. The 4:30 sucks
Couldn’t disagree more! Such a delicate and mindful placement, totally melds into the dial. I hate 3 and 6!
Gah! Just do a no date version already! 😂
awesome vid
The "62MAS Homage" link goes to a dead web page.
thanks fixed!
Done with Seikos.
What’s with the falling titan name?
just a fun name I used when I started the channel. I didn't want to be a typical boring "hello I'm john smith and lets talk watches with coffee" type of thing. that was the original plan and I'm stuck with it now
Maybe they listened to me. 🤷🏻♂️ I've been complaining about that damn wave bump for years! It's irritating.
The blue is nice!!! Wish they did a ceramic bezel and lose the minute markers on the bezel and just keep them at every 5 mins. Overall they look good.
2:39 I have had a previous generation 63MAS with the same hand alignment issue. Seiko QC is just straight up laughable at this point.
I have an SPB143. Do you think I "need" this one?. I love your video like always but I will love a more face to face video with the spb143... A battle?😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 Thank you very much for your review
I'd say no you don't "need" this one if you already have a 63mas.
@@EscapementWatch thank you from me wallet. Have a very nice day
