Fun fact, if you do the genocide route and save before killing snowdrake, the text will say "That comedian" commonly mistaken for being sans. If you do the papyrus fight and end the genocide route by leaving snowdrake, the text reads "The comedian got away. Failure." Marking the end of the genocide route.
to me it’s basically the same as regular pacifist ending, it’s just Chara tried to be scary specifically to the player and is also just more obviously present on the ending, perhaps making it a BETTER ending than true pacifist.
Those messages from asgore on any route are memories shared to you by Chara, the first fallen child. Technically, they are still on your side at this point on the run so it makes sense they would give you motivation to... Kill everyone... Huh.
@@chunkytheduck2980 Blatant spoilers (even though i dont know how you missed them by now) because it doesn't erase the things youve done in the previous genocide run. The game ending shows a photograph of everbody in the game with crossed out faces and in the middle, chara smiling with red eyes. So it's not better at all, Chara remembers and will erase this timeline too in the end. (also watch the ending part where toriel leaves a pie for them at night, you'll understand why)

He remembers vague impressions, but so does everyone else and its very subtle. Like really vague deja-vu. But since he's aware of this, he understands what it really means. That and he's good at reading facial expressions. BTW this info is hinted at in the game in various lines of dialog. Including Toriel of all people. So while what I'm saying isn't confirmed it is implied.
I have the original upload from my old channel, I honestly didn’t think anyone would care to watch it because it was only one chapter at the time so I didn’t reupload it. But it’s about an hour long cut down playthrough of the first chapter! Tbh I could upload that and cut down my run of chapter 2 if I still have the vods. @@Chiken I have a recommendation of a video too, there is a mod for undertale and deltarune that changes all the text to an messed up translation after going trow many languages, I don’t know if sustains a 1-2 hour video but if you start to play and like it maybe you can cut and just let the best parts (but just if you are interested in this idea)

You know what? I don't think "Chicken" kills everybody at the end of pacifist run I mean, when you open the game again, Flowey still says that everybody's perfectly happy Maybe they wanted to scare/punish us? Like "You really thought you were above consequences?"
Do you want me to break your heart? Asriel/Flowey never left the Underground, remember? "I can't go to them. I don't want to hurt them a second time." He was the lone person to stay beneath the ground, a single creature, living a life of solitude beneath the earth. So, how would Flowey know that the others are dead? As far as he knows, you all left for the surface, happy and content, after a normal Pacifist run. You erased his memories, like he asked you to, so he doesn't remember the genocide. He doesn't know you have no SOUL anymore. He only THINKS everyone is living happily aboveground. But that's not true. You are not above consequences. Your desire to learn everything has likewise costed you everything. One could think that the "live with Toriel" ending isn't Chara killing anyone, but simply reminding you of what you did. But going your own way is very explicit: everyone is dead in that timeline. Chara kills them all eventually.

Monsters have returned to the surface. Peace and prosperity will rule across the land"? Was he just blatantly lying? Why do you think the photo suggested Chara killing them? @@kreti1023 On Asriel, he also had the line "Somebody has to care for [these flowers]," (I know it was something like that) implying a state of self-imposed exile in the ruins, similar to what Toriel went through. I'm not saying his actions weren't an act of both selflessness and self-sacrifice, only that they knew they'd become Flowey again eventually... And what was to stop that sociopathic, uncaring version of himself from trying to claim the power of Determination again and teaching the World a lesson, as was his plan before? His exile was both for the benefit of the world as it was for his loved ones. As for him saying everyone is happy; why wouldn't they be? He was probably watching when they left, yes, but if it's true he stayed behind, he would only have that one memory: everyone happily together, taking a photo and headed out into the wider world. They were all happy when he last saw them, and he knew you got the "good ending" to the story. He had no memory of your genocide run. To him, you were kind, sweet and loving when you left the underground. Why would you kill everyone? And if you didn't kill them, why would they all perish around the same time, without warning? As for the picture at the end, Toby is a master of symbolism, but you don't need to be to know what a photo with faces "X"ed out on it means. If someone wants to cut someone from their life, they rip/cut them out of a picture. But leaving them on and crossing out their face delivers an entirely new symbol to the concept. The archetypical hitlist looks identical to this, so the connection can easily be made. "Do you really think you're above consequences?" was the line Chara gave the player when they wanted to reset the world. And since Chara asked us about consequences at the end of out Geno run... well, what better consequence for letting curiosity turn you into a murderer, than to never let the characters you grew to love be happy again? Saying "they aren't really your friends" isn't a consequence, because they themselves think otherwise. To them, you did nothing wrong, and a simple picture implying the memory of past events wouldn't be a consequence. But robbing you of your happy ending? Killing the ones you love? That is a brutal and painful consequence.

I think it's just a reminder to the player that the player is a soulless monster who would free these monsters, kill them just for the heck of it/curiosity, and then feel bad and go back to give them their 'happy ending'. You get that happy end, but not without lingering guilt. How much of a happy end is it really. Edit: honestly, killing them at the end feels less of a consequence to me. Because if everything ran smoothly and everyone did have their happy ending, it's terrifying to know that you can kill the people and reset and act like it never happened. That you have so much power, only to encounter chara, who reminds you of what you done, who has more control over this game than you.
Debatable topic, but I’m pretty sure “Chiken” doesn’t kill you at the end of Genocide. You agreed to erase everything, so that was you swinging your knife, destroying the world. The attack animation is also the same as any other time you swing your knife. Pretty sure it would have been flipped or mirrored or something if you were the one being attacked.
I'm unsure; if you reject their offer, then it's implied they charge you and attack you, playing the same slash animation, screen of "9"s and shaking window. Considering your game is the window to that world, it probably IS you, so wouldn't it be the same thing either way?
@@inkblooded1058 Yeah, that’s very plausible. The scene in general is pretty abstract, so it’s hard to say anything for sure. Open to each individual’s interpretation, I guess. Personally, I like to think that when they attack you, they take your knife and destroy the world themself. I have absolutely zero proof for that; I just find the idea of them saying “Fine, I’ll do it myself,” hilarious.

If Chara was innocent in all of it, then you just forced an innocent child to partake in murdering all her friends, for no reason other than curiosity. It's clear from the mechanics that Flowey and Asgore were killed by Chara, not you. But by that point, they may have been so mentally broken, that they hardly understood what was happening. And what did you teach them, through your romp to the underground? That lives aren't as important as they thought they are. You mentally destroyed the First Child, and unlike everybody else, they can't forget. So they make sure you never do either. However, it's clear that Chara has no qualms with killing; Asriel tells us that Chara was the one trying to get them to kill the humans. That isn't to say she'd want to kill the monsters, or was inherently evil, but that she had little value for the lives of humans.
Just so you know, you ARE still frisk in Genocide, it’s just that at the end Flowey still thinks your Chara because you didn’t spare anyone and therefore you never tell Flowey that you aren’t chara.
I remember getting it on my first run! It was odd to me to not see the fishing rod once I made my second run and everything lmao. Same thing happened with the Alphys pizza call. I remember I played the game again going "Ok, here's where Alphys calls me!" just to be disappointed and sad that it didn't happen :") Then I found out about the fun value months later on YT, just thinking "Oh... So that's why lmao"
It's extremely common to finish the Sans fight with 1 hp due to how his damage works. Especially because his final bit of throwing you around deals like 20-40 nonlethal damage, so the only way you have more than 1 hp is if you ace his final attack.
Idk if you've heard this already, but there is 1 final peice of story that can't really be found without hacking, but is pretty important to Deltarune. You don't have to, but you seemed really determined to understand the full storyline, and this is part of it. There's a Secret Character named Dr. W.D. Gaster. There are a lot of good videos explaining who he is and why he matters. I think you'll like it!

Everybody underrates the Undyne the Undying fight. I get that Sans is a very popular fight, but it took me literally 164 tries to beat Undyne the Undying and took me 6 tries to beat sans so in my opinion Undyne the Undying is way harder but it's just my opinion sorry if i angered anybody with this comment

Honestly, same. I still remember the first time I fought Undyne. I do not remember how many attempts it took me to defeat both Undyne and Sans, but to this day I can still look back to it and confirm that, without a doubt, Undyne was one hell of a lot harder than Sans, at least to me, so I relate to this on a spiritual level lol
there is special place in hell called "i beated Genocide, i didn't cared or feeled gilty... i didn't even REGRET... i did it all with pure satisfaction and in deltarune... i just watched how to do Snowgrave without even TRYING to be good"... but you... regreted everything... so you are pure from this special dungeon.
I wanna point to the moment where "chicken" said: "With your guidance", everyone that ever claimed that you are possessed has never played the game while actually reading, only putting together a theory based on cut playthroughs or just missing that part, it's just so obvious.
That doesn't disprove the idea that Chara is posessing Frisk assuming that you are in turn posessing Chara. And even if it does Chara does make their own indepenent action
chara is a child, children can be easily misled, (especially if they have a lot of hatred like chara), and thus, chara *does* possess you to make your job easier in the asgore and sans fight.
@@lobzoy If Chara is so easy to sway then how come Chara held on to their hatred for humanity despite the fact the monsters don't seem to have held much ill will to humanity and wanted to make peace with them? Chara wants peace through violence, something that the monster population does not wish for at this time and the best case scenerio of Chara's plans was waging war with humans until monsters become powerful enough to force humans not to attack them. This is very different from what the monsters wanted at this time. Chara does not learn this more peaceful attitude from the Dreemurs so why are we to assume Chara would be so quick to learn that killing is right from us? Chara chooses of their own free will to take our "guidance" to heart and comes to the conlcusion that the purpose of their reincarnation is power. They then decide that the lives of all monsters in the underground are worth less than this goal. Chara's is influenced by us for the worse but ultimately power is Chara's desire not ours.
@@cormacb2326 trauma is harder to overcome than giving in and hurting others. Aside from that, there’s no evidence that the monsters “held no ill will” towards humanity before Chara fell in?? When Frisk falls in the monsters clearly hate humanity like Chara does and the monsters want them (humanity) *dead* like it’s not at all ambiguous. The monsters are good natured and most of them probably don’t really think about what taking the surface back through Asgore’s methods really means, but they wouldn’t have cheered for his plan if they didn’t already dislike humanity. Chara was the future of humans and monsters - this was drilled into their head, that *they* will be responsible for the monsters’ fate. So they did. And they failed, their best friend in the world didn’t trust them enough to finish what was started, and when they wake up with Frisk they were probably scared and unsure of themself. Even worse: everyone they tried to save has been left worse off than when they started. So they follow your guidance. And that’s that. *Asgore and Toriel* were the ones that wanted to make peace with humanity. The monsters believed them, but they definitely still held ill will towards the human race.
@@whiskeredwolf4861 Who said anything about getting over trauma? Not getting over trauma does not equal helping someone go on a killing spree for power. There is a clear option you aren't seeing here, Chara does not get over their trauma, remains miserable but does not help a serial killer kill over 80 people. And Chara does it for power and not revenge anyway (with the exception of Flowey, probably). Not to mention one of the only things we learn about Chara pre death is that they had a look of hope in their eyes. Clearly they went through some bad shit on the surface but they were not a depressed or even pessimistic person despite not getting over any of their trauma. This shows us that Chara is a mentally strong person who holds on to hope even in bad situations and even with trauma they have not gotten over. Yet somehow this new bout of trauma completely pushed them over the edge so far that 8-20 minutes later they go on to help a serial killer murder 80 people? Seems odd to me. It has been at least decades since Chara has fallen into the underground, possibly 100 years (popular fan theory: ). Since then the humans killed Asriel, the future prince and Asgore, the greatly respected king of the underground made war against humanity the new national policy. Most monsters we see were almost certaintly raised after Chara's death (Undyne has never seen a human before us) so they were raised into a nation that's policy against humans was to kill them on sight. That's going to affect them. And many of them don't seem to know they are hurting you in the first place. According to the Snowdin library monsters express themselves through magic, apparently it is common to get a "bullet pattern birthday card". So its quite possible most of the monsters you fight are actually unaware they are hurting you although the narration seems to indicate otherwise. If you are talking about the monsters who were alive during Chara's time than they just expierenced the death of the symbol of hope of peace between humans and monsters (Chara) and then had the humans kill the future Prince Asriel. There hope for a better future had died so it makes sense they would be willing to cling to anything to have hope again. It seems many if not most monsters have met Asgore himself in person and regard him as softie. Asgore being a nice person would have made them more likely to think the war was justified since they wouldn't think Asgore would do something so terrible. So no, I don't really think there is that much evidence they held ill will towards humans. And even if they did that is not that relevant since Chara would spend the vast majority of their time the Dreemurs who did not. Yet Chara did not learn to let go of their hatred from the Dreemurs. Chara held on to their own opinions even when raised by those with radically different ones. Because Chara is not an impressionable child. Chara doesn't act scared at any point in Undertale (save for maybe the true lab). Chara (assuming they are the narrator) seems to act lively and cheerfully at the start of the game and only change into serious mode during fights against the Dreemurs and in genocide. In the genocide route they (might be Frisk) refuse to follow Sans' instruction hide behind the conviently shaped lamp and they seem eager to keep fighting Undyne the Undying considering they speed up the process (might be Frisk). They take multiple steps towards Mettaton and Sans (as well as Papyrus but that is less important). And their reaction to Flowey threatening to kill them indirectly is to smile creepily. In life Chara was willing to go through the unfathomably painful death of buttercup poisoning in order to go through with their plan, doesn't seem like Chara is a very scared person. They carry their own body up to the village despite it being fairly obvious that would cause the humans to attack them if they hadn't already. Chara seems like a pretty brave/fearless person to me. It is far from immpossible Chara was scared but to claim Chara being scared is a large part of what drove them to the genocide run is a claim unsupported by the game, ergo it is purely headcanon. As for Chara being unsure of themselves, that is a more logical claim (since Chara's dialouge supports it) but they definitely seem to become sure of themselves right after you leave the ruins considering they won't stop bugging you to kill Snowdrake if you miss him. Why does Snowdrake even need to die? You can kill as many monsters without him dying and he doesn't even give that much EXP. What actions have we done to indicate we have 'failed' if we don't kill Snowdrake? If Chara is just following our guidance than why will they insult you if you don't kill Snowdrake despite the fact it is unnecesary? For some or another Chara wants Snowdrake dead, whether it is a personal grudge or for us to demonstrate our dedication to the genocide route and if you do not kill him Chara will be pissed. Chara does use as guidance (despite us never asking them to), but Chara isn't just our student. They have their own goals that are independent from ours, Chara just assumes we have the same goals.

I downloaded the game for the first time days ago (almost finishing my first neutral route). Before even starting I knew I was NOT going to do a genocide run, ever. I’m way too sensitive, just seeing clips online made me sad, there’s no way I’m gonna kill anyone.

Actually, you're still Frisk! Well, at least at first. Chara is the Narrator for the game-for both pacifist AND genocide. Theres a lot of proof of this throughout the game, which makes me think its true. Frisk, or more accurately the player decides to kill everyone, and eventually that corrupts Chara. What I think happened is Chara and Frisks souls fused when Frisk first fell to keep them alive. (Which is why you can hear Chara's memories when you die, and maybe why you can rewind time in the first place; you have the determination of two people.) Thus, as Sans says, the more EXP you gain, the easier it is to harm people. Since their souls were fused, both Chara and Frisk gained EXP. Thus, Chara is corrupted along with Frisk. At the end of the Genocide run, Chara makes it very clear that YOURE the one who started this, convinced them it was right, and that they're just the ones who's going to FINISH it. It all depends on you what Chara is-a helpful, friendly ghost narrator, or... someone aiming to destroy the entire world. As Asriel says, they're not the greatest person. But they're still someone that once loved Monsters enough to kill themselves for them, so they're not the worst person either... unless you push them to be. (Also, Asriel heavily implied that they were suicidal-makes since, they killed themselves-and that's why they climbed the mountain. In their original life, there was never a hint of them being able to control time. They just weren't determined to live. Do you really think someone like that could use the saving and loading features? They couldn't before, could they? Not to mention, it's in bit bad taste to have the mentally ill, implied to be a victim of abuse child to be the villain. In reality, there's only one villain in undertale: YOU.) Also, at one point Nabstablook can hear the narrator. It would make sense if the narrator was a ghost, no? Since they're the only one who can hear it besides Frisk/us. Yeah, Chara does kill everyone in soulless pacifist though. Well, at least we're left to assume that. I mean, actions have consequences, and you taught them murder was okay! It's the games way of punishing you. Not cool of Chara, but you really only have yourself to blame.

Fun fact, if you do the genocide route and save before killing snowdrake, the text will say "That comedian" commonly mistaken for being sans. If you do the papyrus fight and end the genocide route by leaving snowdrake, the text reads "The comedian got away. Failure." Marking the end of the genocide route.

because it doesn't erase the things youve done in the previous genocide run. The game ending shows a photograph of everbody in the game with crossed out faces and in the middle, chara smiling with red eyes. So it's not better at all, Chara remembers and will erase this timeline too in the end. (also watch the ending part where toriel leaves a pie for them at night, you'll understand why)

He remembers vague impressions, but so does everyone else and its very subtle. Like really vague deja-vu. But since he's aware of this, he understands what it really means. That and he's good at reading facial expressions. BTW this info is hinted at in the game in various lines of dialog. Including Toriel of all people. So while what I'm saying isn't confirmed it is implied.

@@Chiken I have a recommendation of a video too, there is a mod for undertale and deltarune that changes all the text to an messed up translation after going trow many languages, I don’t know if sustains a 1-2 hour video but if you start to play and like it maybe you can cut and just let the best parts (but just if you are interested in this idea)

Do you want me to break your heart? Asriel/Flowey never left the Underground, remember? "I can't go to them. I don't want to hurt them a second time." He was the lone person to stay beneath the ground, a single creature, living a life of solitude beneath the earth. So, how would Flowey know that the others are dead? As far as he knows, you all left for the surface, happy and content, after a normal Pacifist run. You erased his memories, like he asked you to, so he doesn't remember the genocide. He doesn't know you have no SOUL anymore. He only THINKS everyone is living happily aboveground. But that's not true. You are not above consequences. Your desire to learn everything has likewise costed you everything.
One could think that the "live with Toriel" ending isn't Chara killing anyone, but simply reminding you of what you did. But going your own way is very explicit: everyone is dead in that timeline. Chara kills them all eventually.

@@kreti1023 On Asriel, he also had the line "Somebody has to care for [these flowers]," (I know it was something like that) implying a state of self-imposed exile in the ruins, similar to what Toriel went through. I'm not saying his actions weren't an act of both selflessness and self-sacrifice, only that they knew they'd become Flowey again eventually... And what was to stop that sociopathic, uncaring version of himself from trying to claim the power of Determination again and teaching the World a lesson, as was his plan before? His exile was both for the benefit of the world as it was for his loved ones. As for him saying everyone is happy; why wouldn't they be? He was probably watching when they left, yes, but if it's true he stayed behind, he would only have that one memory: everyone happily together, taking a photo and headed out into the wider world. They were all happy when he last saw them, and he knew you got the "good ending" to the story. He had no memory of your genocide run. To him, you were kind, sweet and loving when you left the underground. Why would you kill everyone? And if you didn't kill them, why would they all perish around the same time, without warning?
As for the picture at the end, Toby is a master of symbolism, but you don't need to be to know what a photo with faces "X"ed out on it means. If someone wants to cut someone from their life, they rip/cut them out of a picture. But leaving them on and crossing out their face delivers an entirely new symbol to the concept. The archetypical hitlist looks identical to this, so the connection can easily be made.
"Do you really think you're above consequences?" was the line Chara gave the player when they wanted to reset the world. And since Chara asked us about consequences at the end of out Geno run... well, what better consequence for letting curiosity turn you into a murderer, than to never let the characters you grew to love be happy again? Saying "they aren't really your friends" isn't a consequence, because they themselves think otherwise. To them, you did nothing wrong, and a simple picture implying the memory of past events wouldn't be a consequence. But robbing you of your happy ending? Killing the ones you love? That is a brutal and painful consequence.

@@inkblooded1058 i don't think chara kills anyone. I think it's just a reminder to the player that the player is a soulless monster who would free these monsters, kill them just for the heck of it/curiosity, and then feel bad and go back to give them their 'happy ending'.
You get that happy end, but not without lingering guilt. How much of a happy end is it really.
Edit: honestly, killing them at the end feels less of a consequence to me. Because if everything ran smoothly and everyone did have their happy ending, it's terrifying to know that you can kill the people and reset and act like it never happened. That you have so much power, only to encounter chara, who reminds you of what you done, who has more control over this game than you.
Debatable topic, but I’m pretty sure “Chiken” doesn’t kill you at the end of Genocide. You agreed to erase everything, so that was you swinging your knife, destroying the world.
The attack animation is also the same as any other time you swing your knife. Pretty sure it would have been flipped or mirrored or something if you were the one being attacked.
I'm unsure; if you reject their offer, then it's implied they charge you and attack you, playing the same slash animation, screen of "9"s and shaking window. Considering your game is the window to that world, it probably IS you, so wouldn't it be the same thing either way?

Personally, I like to think that when they attack you, they take your knife and destroy the world themself. I have absolutely zero proof for that; I just find the idea of them saying “Fine, I’ll do it myself,” hilarious.

@@IncogNiko Then that might even make my point more valid. If Chara was innocent in all of it, then you just forced an innocent child to partake in murdering all her friends, for no reason other than curiosity.
It's clear from the mechanics that Flowey and Asgore were killed by Chara, not you. But by that point, they may have been so mentally broken, that they hardly understood what was happening.
And what did you teach them, through your romp to the underground? That lives aren't as important as they thought they are. You mentally destroyed the First Child, and unlike everybody else, they can't forget. So they make sure you never do either.
However, it's clear that Chara has no qualms with killing; Asriel tells us that Chara was the one trying to get them to kill the humans. That isn't to say she'd want to kill the monsters, or was inherently evil, but that she had little value for the lives of humans.

Just so you know, you ARE still frisk in Genocide, it’s just that at the end Flowey still thinks your Chara because you didn’t spare anyone and therefore you never tell Flowey that you aren’t chara.
It's very possible the player is a seperate entity from either of them who just controls Frisk's body and soul.

you have a talent for finishing fights at 1hp (and i say this in the nicest way possible)
It's extremely common to finish the Sans fight with 1 hp due to how his damage works. Especially because his final bit of throwing you around deals like 20-40 nonlethal damage, so the only way you have more than 1 hp is if you ace his final attack.
Idk if you've heard this already, but there is 1 final peice of story that can't really be found without hacking, but is pretty important to Deltarune. You don't have to, but you seemed really determined to understand the full storyline, and this is part of it.
There's a Secret Character named Dr. W.D. Gaster. There are a lot of good videos explaining who he is and why he matters. I think you'll like it!

Everybody underrates the Undyne the Undying fight. I get that Sans is a very popular fight, but it took me literally 164 tries to beat Undyne the Undying and took me 6 tries to beat sans so in my opinion Undyne the Undying is way harder

I do not remember how many attempts it took me to defeat both Undyne and Sans, but to this day I can still look back to it and confirm that, without a doubt, Undyne was one hell of a lot harder than Sans, at least to me, so I relate to this on a spiritual level lol

I wanna point to the moment where "chicken" said: "With your guidance", everyone that ever claimed that you are possessed has never played the game while actually reading, only putting together a theory based on cut playthroughs or just missing that part, it's just so obvious.
That doesn't disprove the idea that Chara is posessing Frisk assuming that you are in turn posessing Chara. And even if it does Chara does make their own indepenent action
chara is a child, children can be easily misled, (especially if they have a lot of hatred like chara), and thus, chara *does* possess you to make your job easier in the asgore and sans fight.

If Chara is so easy to sway then how come Chara held on to their hatred for humanity despite the fact the monsters don't seem to have held much ill will to humanity and wanted to make peace with them? Chara wants peace through violence, something that the monster population does not wish for at this time and the best case scenerio of Chara's plans was waging war with humans until monsters become powerful enough to force humans not to attack them. This is very different from what the monsters wanted at this time. Chara does not learn this more peaceful attitude from the Dreemurs so why are we to assume Chara would be so quick to learn that killing is right from us? Chara chooses of their own free will to take our "guidance" to heart and comes to the conlcusion that the purpose of their reincarnation is power. They then decide that the lives of all monsters in the underground are worth less than this goal. Chara's is influenced by us for the worse but ultimately power is Chara's desire not ours.

When Frisk falls in the monsters clearly hate humanity like Chara does and the monsters want them (humanity) *dead* like it’s not at all ambiguous. The monsters are good natured and most of them probably don’t really think about what taking the surface back through Asgore’s methods really means, but they wouldn’t have cheered for his plan if they didn’t already dislike humanity. Chara was the future of humans and monsters - this was drilled into their head, that *they* will be responsible for the monsters’ fate. So they did. And they failed, their best friend in the world didn’t trust them enough to finish what was started, and when they wake up with Frisk they were probably scared and unsure of themself. Even worse: everyone they tried to save has been left worse off than when they started. So they follow your guidance. And that’s that.
*Asgore and Toriel* were the ones that wanted to make peace with humanity. The monsters believed them, but they definitely still held ill will towards the human race.

Who said anything about getting over trauma? Not getting over trauma does not equal helping someone go on a killing spree for power. There is a clear option you aren't seeing here, Chara does not get over their trauma, remains miserable but does not help a serial killer kill over 80 people. And Chara does it for power and not revenge anyway (with the exception of Flowey, probably). Not to mention one of the only things we learn about Chara pre death is that they had a look of hope in their eyes. Clearly they went through some bad shit on the surface but they were not a depressed or even pessimistic person despite not getting over any of their trauma. This shows us that Chara is a mentally strong person who holds on to hope even in bad situations and even with trauma they have not gotten over. Yet somehow this new bout of trauma completely pushed them over the edge so far that 8-20 minutes later they go on to help a serial killer murder 80 people? Seems odd to me.
It has been at least decades since Chara has fallen into the underground, possibly 100 years (popular fan theory: ). Since then the humans killed Asriel, the future prince and Asgore, the greatly respected king of the underground made war against humanity the new national policy. Most monsters we see were almost certaintly raised after Chara's death (Undyne has never seen a human before us) so they were raised into a nation that's policy against humans was to kill them on sight. That's going to affect them. And many of them don't seem to know they are hurting you in the first place. According to the Snowdin library monsters express themselves through magic, apparently it is common to get a "bullet pattern birthday card". So its quite possible most of the monsters you fight are actually unaware they are hurting you although the narration seems to indicate otherwise.
If you are talking about the monsters who were alive during Chara's time than they just expierenced the death of the symbol of hope of peace between humans and monsters (Chara) and then had the humans kill the future Prince Asriel. There hope for a better future had died so it makes sense they would be willing to cling to anything to have hope again. It seems many if not most monsters have met Asgore himself in person and regard him as softie. Asgore being a nice person would have made them more likely to think the war was justified since they wouldn't think Asgore would do something so terrible. So no, I don't really think there is that much evidence they held ill will towards humans. And even if they did that is not that relevant since Chara would spend the vast majority of their time the Dreemurs who did not. Yet Chara did not learn to let go of their hatred from the Dreemurs. Chara held on to their own opinions even when raised by those with radically different ones. Because Chara is not an impressionable child.
Chara doesn't act scared at any point in Undertale (save for maybe the true lab). Chara (assuming they are the narrator) seems to act lively and cheerfully at the start of the game and only change into serious mode during fights against the Dreemurs and in genocide. In the genocide route they (might be Frisk) refuse to follow Sans' instruction hide behind the conviently shaped lamp and they seem eager to keep fighting Undyne the Undying considering they speed up the process (might be Frisk). They take multiple steps towards Mettaton and Sans (as well as Papyrus but that is less important). And their reaction to Flowey threatening to kill them indirectly is to smile creepily. In life Chara was willing to go through the unfathomably painful death of buttercup poisoning in order to go through with their plan, doesn't seem like Chara is a very scared person. They carry their own body up to the village despite it being fairly obvious that would cause the humans to attack them if they hadn't already. Chara seems like a pretty brave/fearless person to me. It is far from immpossible Chara was scared but to claim Chara being scared is a large part of what drove them to the genocide run is a claim unsupported by the game, ergo it is purely headcanon.
As for Chara being unsure of themselves, that is a more logical claim (since Chara's dialouge supports it) but they definitely seem to become sure of themselves right after you leave the ruins considering they won't stop bugging you to kill Snowdrake if you miss him. Why does Snowdrake even need to die? You can kill as many monsters without him dying and he doesn't even give that much EXP. What actions have we done to indicate we have 'failed' if we don't kill Snowdrake? If Chara is just following our guidance than why will they insult you if you don't kill Snowdrake despite the fact it is unnecesary? For some or another Chara wants Snowdrake dead, whether it is a personal grudge or for us to demonstrate our dedication to the genocide route and if you do not kill him Chara will be pissed. Chara does use as guidance (despite us never asking them to), but Chara isn't just our student. They have their own goals that are independent from ours, Chara just assumes we have the same goals.

Actually, you're still Frisk! Well, at least at first. Chara is the Narrator for the game-for both pacifist AND genocide. Theres a lot of proof of this throughout the game, which makes me think its true. Frisk, or more accurately the player decides to kill everyone, and eventually that corrupts Chara. What I think happened is Chara and Frisks souls fused when Frisk first fell to keep them alive. (Which is why you can hear Chara's memories when you die, and maybe why you can rewind time in the first place; you have the determination of two people.) Thus, as Sans says, the more EXP you gain, the easier it is to harm people. Since their souls were fused, both Chara and Frisk gained EXP. Thus, Chara is corrupted along with Frisk. At the end of the Genocide run, Chara makes it very clear that YOURE the one who started this, convinced them it was right, and that they're just the ones who's going to FINISH it. It all depends on you what Chara is-a helpful, friendly ghost narrator, or... someone aiming to destroy the entire world.
As Asriel says, they're not the greatest person. But they're still someone that once loved Monsters enough to kill themselves for them, so they're not the worst person either... unless you push them to be.
(Also, Asriel heavily implied that they were suicidal-makes since, they killed themselves-and that's why they climbed the mountain. In their original life, there was never a hint of them being able to control time. They just weren't determined to live. Do you really think someone like that could use the saving and loading features? They couldn't before, could they? Not to mention, it's in bit bad taste to have the mentally ill, implied to be a victim of abuse child to be the villain. In reality, there's only one villain in undertale: YOU.)
Also, at one point Nabstablook can hear the narrator. It would make sense if the narrator was a ghost, no? Since they're the only one who can hear it besides Frisk/us.
Yeah, Chara does kill everyone in soulless pacifist though. Well, at least we're left to assume that. I mean, actions have consequences, and you taught them murder was okay! It's the games way of punishing you. Not cool of Chara, but you really only have yourself to blame.
