Glad to hear you roll! I have all the materials to make this craft so I see camp fires in the future. Great video and project as always. Thanks for sharing.
Awesome build, I spoke to my DM about this a few weeks ago. Similar build but no uv anything. Hey you can dye your glue too with, well dye, and hot water. Thanks man.
You should probably have pointed out that not all LEDs flicker that it is a very specific LED that is needed to do that without adding additional electronic components. You can't even see in your testing section of your video that there is a flicker. I'd hate for someone to be working on the project and get to the final stage and realize their flame isn't having the flicker which gives it that defining shine.
That's a good point and noted for the future. Thanks. Side note, anyone that purchases LED's through the Amazon links in my video will be directed to the correct LED's.
I'm still confused about what makes the light flickers. It seems to be a simple circuit with the LEDs directly connected to the battery. Is there a specific combination of LED and battery voltage to achieve this?
@@TabletopWitchCRAFT Thanks for clearing that up! I once tried to reuse the diode from a cheap flickering LED candle. But when I connected it to a new battery, it stopped flickering and just shined like a normal LED. So I always thought it was something else in the circuit that made it flickers haha.
Fantastic campfires! Love the two-tier lighting effect. As an Aussie, I kinda missed something that may be a local phenomenon - campfire smoke that follows you around as you try to avoid it. Seriously, I'm sure there are angry smoke elementalists who animate it just for fun! UV resins are excellent, as long as your workspace doesn't have natural light . . . ;)
Yeah it takes quite a while for natural light to set the UV Resin. Plenty of work time. As for the smoke monsters... they exist here... you can't get away form them haha.
Hi Mark, nothing special…. The LED itself is a flickering LED. The exact LED I used is in the description but you can also find them and everything in my studio on my website at www.tabletopwitchcraft.com
As always it looks awesome man. Even your smallest builds are flawless and your tutorials always impeccable. I already have a very similar bonfire I did a while back but I've been wanting to craft another one for some time. The clear orange sheet is a neat trick, it's also great for doing SF experiment tubes! For the bonfire I wonder if just adding heavy grained salt arround the bare LED wouldnt already give nice light dispersion and looking more like wood coals shapewise... Gonna try this.
Love the video - a great new take on a classic piece of terrain. And when it comes to being scared of diodes, I can speak from experience when I say don't be! I used them for the first time a couple months ago when I copied the torches in wall as seen on earlier videos here on Tabletop Witchcraft. Just follow the instructions, it was super easy, and now I am probably guilty of over using them cause I love them so much :P And yes John...once again you released just in time for me to enjoy on my lunch break :P
These are cool, I want to make some. I already have everything I need except for the orange film. You have some nice tools, but why do you have that crappy pair of scissors? 😜
A contextual story at the start sage advice at the end. Oh and also solving the holy grail of terrain problems, oversized campfires. So many vids out there of decorating those fake LED tea lights that look like trash. I'm blown away what a great vid. However, I hear by challenge you to make an even smaller campfire.
Cool campfire! Love your builds. Any thought on making a cavern build or a cavern entrance? Would love to see your take on that. Didn't see anything like that in your other builds.
Very nice little tutorial, thanks! I’ve never worked with these LED diodes before, just the string LED lights that plug into the wall or the little battery powered mini sting light sets. The flickering is a nice effect. Thanks!
Thank you very much. With a little practice I think I could use your tutorial for my miniatures. It would be a great help to me. I wish you all a wonderful holiday season 🥳. Greetings from France 🇫🇷

Simple and effective John. I will probably not use it any time soon because of my preferences of making things. That doesn't mean It's not very nice though. two thumbs up again :)
Good evening, Tabletop WitchCRAFT, greetings from Portugal! I've been going to your channel for a while, and I really like what I've seen. I have a question to ask about the craft of these bonfires, regarding the design of the flame itself, is it possible to do the same effect without using the orange plastic, painting slightly the "glue" that makes the flame? maybe with an orange wash? Thanks for the excellent videos, continued good work!
Happy to see viewers from across the globe! You could certainly do an orange wash on the glue to try and achieve the desired effect. I would work one layer of wash at a time until you reach the desired color. You could also use some clear toy packaging like I use in my "Window" video and use an orange marker to make your own lens. Thank you for watching!
Idk how many times I’ve tried this, but I only have small prongs/terminals and I can’t NOT have both touching! An you please do another video showing us with shorter ones?
Great little build, they look awesome. I like the coals, they really add that extra little detail. Your bonfires before were cool, but these are perfect. I also like the idea of makeing some with just the coals. If you make one please post it in one of your videos, bonus content 😎
Out house trap! Out house trap! Out house trap! Woohoooooo!!! Finally the long drop of doom will be a reality. 😜 Loved this build, so easy and such a great finish! I was thinking of something like a larger fire trap under a false floor or a long, but narrow, fire pit, maybe one each side of a stone walkway in a dungeon etc. thanks for sharing and hanging out for the next vid!
Tabletop WitchCRAFT WOOOOOO HOOOOOOOO!!! Just a matter of time, a lot of pestering and a shed load of imagination and BOOM! Outhouse trap. Yeah, life is good 🤪
Nice little craft! I've built some non-flickering campfires myself. There are a lot of vids out there showing how to make campfires (both lit and nonlit), and most of the lit ones use a full tealight covered in terrain to hide it. DM Scotty had a nice one that wasn't too big. But i like how small you made yours!
Totally, just the coals. I would bury two LEDs under there and it would really glow! Yeah, I've seen Scotty's and a few others, but I wanted to use the same LED's that you've seen here before and make it the smallest it can possibly be. And for those that purchased these LED's from watching my prior videos, they will already have the supplies. Simplify!

True!!
No such thing as too much scatter! Nice work man.
What do bears call sleeping bag campers around a campfire?
Soft tacos.
I agree, more scatter terrain to come! Nice dad joke :)
So does the flicker come from the leads being loosely connected to the battery then? No capacitors or anything to get a pulse?
The LEDs themselves are flickering! You want a solid connection to the battery.
Awesome little craft this week.
The background music kept giving me Stargate flashbacks
Thanks :) Good flashbacks I hope.

Definitely going to try the diodes soon. Loved the little campfires, I think a smoldering fire without a big flame would look great.

It is, the LED is a flickering LED. Making things simple :)

How do you get the flicker effect? LEDs connected directly to a battery are either on or off. You need some kind of circuit for the flicker.
Not these, they are flickering LEDs. Just go right to the battery.
