I've been making dollhouse miniatures for 40 years now and I just learned a new trick from you. I knew all those tea lights had other uses but just never searched. I LOVE how you have all the links organized for the supplies you used! I wish everyone did that. Great job!
OK I want to thank you so much for the nail tech brush idea because there’s so many people that wouldn’t think that you could use one of those brushes for a project like this because a lot of people feel like oh no those are for nails don’t use them for anything else but Just like when it comes to make up, I’ll honestly believe that everything and make up can be used differently for what its purpose is so eyeshadow can be used on your lips if you want to you nothing Hass to be conventional for what it actually is used for and I wanna thank you so much because I love also creating old stuff like old miniatures And I love making old books so you have completely saved my life when it comes to making it look like pages. Thank you because I have been trying my hardest to find a paintbrush that is thin enough and there just aren’t none that I can find for art like artist, paint brushes I never thought about a nail tech paintbrush that they would do the small line work. I never thought of that so thank you so much because you have helped me out I’m going to be in the process of creating some diorama‘s that are eventually going to be diorama is that you can Kind of put together on a shelf and it will make a really old mansion and I’m gonna make a library and there needs to be a lot of books and I want them to look as real as possible and you have just helped me so much with this whole process actually because I’m definitely going to do everything that you did from the plastic to the tissue paper everything so thank you
That's the fun thing about miniatures, they combine so many different techniques and materials that anything can be used to make them. You just have to use your imagination! Have you seen the book making technique that uses magazine spines to make realistic books? I have a short video on it, while Ara from Bentley House Minis and Heather Tracy from Thicketworks have more in depth videos. It's great for when you need to make a lot of books for a project!
I'm 62 and just started building dollhouses in the last year "love it"! Your video is wonderfully instructive and easy to follow! Lighting is so expensive and those little tea lights are so economically friendly. Thanks for sharing!
Just found this video in my recommended listing. Thanks for the link to the switches never knew they could be bought at this size lol. Thanks for sharing yep even 3 years later, as they say, better late than never 😹😹😹
Just found this and subscribed. Thank you so much for taking the time to narrate this. A lot of mini making vids are just silent and I like hearing the thought process
Thank you, I'm so glad you enjoyed it! I also have a Twitch channel, where you can watch my process in real time, if you enjoy that kind of thing: www.twitch.tv/artnanxiety Thanks for the sub! 💖
This is brilliant and I love it!! I'm going to try and make this with other stuff cause I don't have a machine like that. I stumbled upon your channel and geesh, its brilliant and ♥ it! I started crafting when my favourite dog passed away from stomach cancer, she was only 5. I have had dogs all my life, but she was my most special one. She understood me without having to say or do much and she was such a sweet and very clever girl. When she died I wanted to die too, wanted to be with her, even tho I still had another dog, but she couldn't take away the immens pain I was in. Call it protection from above, or faith, I don't know but I started to watch creative video's on youtube and started to craft and that changed it all for me. Started to feel better little by little and now i'm on my 6th diorama. Sometimes we need help to cope with what we are going through, so I feel very connected with your channel and your crafting! So thank you so much for sharing!! Lots of love & light, all the way from little Belgium ♥
You can do this technique with anything that you can stick the tealight mechanism into. You can also DIY a vacuformer, and there are some really good videos out there on that if you think it's a tool you'd get some use out of. It's a lot cheaper to make one than it is to buy one! I'm so glad you found me, and are enjoying it here. Welcome!! 💖
@@HotMessMiniatures Seriously? Wauw, I didn't know that, thanks for the advice 🙏!! I'll look for those video's imediatly! Yes, it would help me make so many litle things!! Thank you, ma'am. I'm glad I've found you cause you are very talended and an amazing crafter!! Lots of love and light, all the way from little Belgium ♥
Wow! Just happened upon your video… love love loved it! So many useful ideas and supplies I never knew of or thought of. Explanations excellent and video very professional (electrical diagram excellent addition)! Thanks to you and your husband for giving me the courage to try this myself. ❤❤❤❤❤
I'm so glad you found it useful! Making Harry's lab has been a lot of fun! I'm almost finished with it now, and I'll be sure to do a walk-through video when it's complete. 💖
@@HotMessMiniatures I look forward to it! Seeing the city model on the table is going to force me to revisit the book series and tv series again. The book miniatures inspired me to work on a library, so thank you for that too.😁
Excellent idea about the light - never would’ve thought to do that! You taught me something new today - I’ll definitely use it to light my minis! Thanks 😀
I just found you, and... I don't diamond paint, but I HAD to subscribe to channel entitled, "Art and Anxiety" I SO identify! I LOVE miniatures and am on the cusp of becoming a miniaturist, so I hope you make more miniature-type videos. Pretty please?
That's good news, I don't diamond paint anymore either, so I won't disappoint you! 😂 I developed arthritis in my hands a couple of years ago so I had to stop. You can expect a lot more miniature videos as well as some other fun craft projects in the future. 💕
I'm into miniatures and really like the idea of using tea lights. I think that Bob looks good sitting on a stack of books. Nice painting job on the books.
I'm planning on building a witches cottage for my daughter's home as a Halloween decor and your little book lamp will be a perfect addition. Thank you for sharing and being an inspiration to us all. Adorable.
The shaping can be done without the vacuu thingie, I think it was Tiny Craft Life that showed how to do it by just heating the plastic and pressing it over the item to be moulded.
I just found you and find you so informative AND funny. I do miniatures as well and your content today was spot on for me with the lighting wiring. Thank you and keep the creativity!
Just found your video in my feed & was drawn to your sweetly creepy project. I was delighted to see your tealite transformation--had been wanting to not have to figure electrical stuff out on my own, and here you were, a coherent answer to my craft query! Bless you! Btw, several acqaintences have found relief with holy basil (tulsi) tea, and Tension Tamer tea. 💞 [new sub!]
A HUGE thumbs up! Although, I do t have a 3D printer..a y ideas where to get those cool skulls?? You rock!! You gave me ideas on how to stack books without making a whole book!
I've tried finding similar skulls that people could just buy, but I haven't been able to. All I can suggest is that a lot of areas now have 3D printers you can use for a small fee at the library, or a local makers space. The technology is a lot more affordable now, so even if you can't print one now, you may have a family member or friend who owns a printer soon. Sorry I can't be more helpful 😔 💖
awesome! i love tiny things! :D i'm looking to make an apothacary and this will change a lot. great hack. ty for sharing! and the tiny jars! Do you have a video for them?
I'm so glad you found the video helpful! 💖 I'm not sure which jars you're referring to, because there are several different ones in the diorama, but I do have a video on how I made the mason jars here: ruclips.net/video/PxwHQmVLCBo/видео.htmlsi=cF9FuU2EhJuZiWcC

@@HotMessMiniatures Thank you sooooo much. Knew it was a long shot but took a chance. I’m pretty sure thats it. Going to have fun trying this. Thanks for the wiring how to. I can rewire lamps, change a fan pull switch and other things but I’ve never mastered those dopey tea lights. 🕯️😂🤣
I like the idea, but didn't you want to make switch like a gem lying on those books? I know from far this black button doesn't look bad, but You know :)
Once the diorama was finished, and all the pieces were secured next to it on the shelf, the switch was completely hidden. You could absolutely hide the switch if you're going to place your light in a more open location though! 💖
As stated in the video, I used a vacuformer off screen to mold the plastic around the foam-board blanks. There are many videos available on RUclips that can show you how to make a vacuformer
