Thank you for watching and dropping us a comment. It was surreal to have seen so many videos, then to actually be there ourselves and experience it. Such an amazing time.
Love Death Valley! Have done the south area a couple times now in my Tacoma. The first time was on one leg due to a broken ankle and learned about Carl Mendel in the process. Ever since then I have a spiritual connection with the area. Spent the night in the Geologist Cabin last time on my birthday, glad I did due to the pounding wind. Did not know about Emmets cabin.
@@OpenRoad4Two You guys did a great job documenting the emotion. We can totally tell, the feel of that area transpired on your video! Super well done. I would have felt the Holy Spirit conviction to leave that area ASAP :) You guys covered a great amount of terrain and awesome locations!
Nice video, the A/T looks like luxury accommodation for certain. Sad to see the warm springs camp in such a mess. I worked in the valley for 3 years in the 80’s and the talc mine was still operating. Looks like the swimming pool got filled in from the flooding. I am a big fan of lower speeds = less dust and vehicle damage. In desert off-road driving keeping interval is important for better visibility and reaction time. I bent the tie rod on my 2nd pickup on a trip up one of the canyons, hit a washout about 18”” w x 10” deep , speed will mess up your day. Took me about an hour to pull it straighten it🫣, re install and get back underway. Gotta get back down there soon. 👍
The tent is a great addition. Looks great deployed and folded up. Wow, lots of features inside the tent! That is what we really like about rv/camping… Can setup and sleep just about anywhere with enough space. When we went into the back country we found remains of very old cars. We were in a modern vehicle and it was still exciting driving out there. I am sure the roads were rougher back when those settlers and ranchers were driving back and forth in those old cars on the primitive roads. Very cool mine! Adventure! Fun! History! As always a great video. See you next time friends!
We are loving the new setup. When we had that windy night, got nervous but the Habitat did not budge. Very good quality. Love having the option to setup camp anywhere!
I met Emmett a few years ago. Great guy! We cleaned up the bus and made it into a bunk house but some butt heads shot it up bc they 'they thought it was the Manson bus' ..
Barker Ranch was definitely creepy! We got to Mengel Pass but because we base camped at Trona we couldn't continue further to Geologist's Cabin which was a disappointment since I'm a geologist! Glad to see you got there. Definitely some bumps along the way though. What's the name of the talc mine you visited? Looks really cool.
This is such a great adventure. Paired with the book, the whole area takes on a different perspective. Hope you can return to visit the Geologist Cabin. Not sure what the name of the mine is.
Like the videos. Tried overlanding in Arizona this past september for the first time. Washed out trail. One guys truck was taken by the water. Another guy who had most of the food rolled his truck over dumping all the food on the trail. My gf daughter got the flu. I got the stomach flu. Dehydration. God told me overlanding isn't for Me. 👍👍👍. Love the movies though . Good luck on your journey 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Oh man, did this happen to be near the Superstition Mountains? Sounds like a rough go, glad that everyone was ok. Thanks for coming along on the adventure with us. Cheers friend!
Such great history. Did not know the Manson Family hid out in Death Valley. The 1930s mine camp and abandoned talc mine were interesting to explore. Death Valley in general looks like a great area to explore due to the natural beauty and the history. Thanks for taking us along for the ride.
Hi.. just watched your video… do you think Mengels Pass is doable in a Taco with 32in tires and approximately 10in clearance before I deflate tires. Appreciate your insight .. coming from WA state, any intel involving recent snow elevation would be great too. Planning a trip in that area in two weeks
Thank you for watching…We had 285/70r17 tires on our truck when we did the trail, roughly 32.5 inches and probably about 11 inches of clearance. One of the other Tacomas on trail with us had smaller tires and less clearance. Obviously clearance is only half the battle. Picking the appropriate lines is as equally important. There were some more capable Jeeps we encountered that decided to turn around. It’s very remote, so traveling with at least one other vehicle is extremely important. Haven’t been keeping up with snow in that area, so not much information to share with that. Hope this helps.
We started the trip at Ballarat Ghost Town. We were prepared to turn around should the roads be impassable. If you do the trail, I would check with the National Park.
A wonderful trail we explored and love is the Mojave Trail. It is rich in history and was a vital trail system for Native Americans tribes of the southwest.
☠️ Awesome!

We did Mengles pass in a stock 1992 Jeep Cherokee, no skid plates, street tires.
👊🏼👊🏼
Very cool exploration 😀👍
Historic trail is always a fun exploration.
In 2020, I left a bunch of chairs and cots in the Geo Cabin for visitors. Hope they are still there.
We did see some in the corner of the cabin.

💀how fun! Already looking forward to our 2023 trip! Keep it going guys!
We are too!!! Can’t wait.
Great video!! Some of those locations looked spooky!
Not going to lie…Barker Ranch had some creepy vibes.

Death Valley! What an amazing overland journey!
Yes it was!!
💀 We love DVNP! Great adventuring and y'all got into some sketchy stuff. Wow!
It’s an amazing trail!! Some fun challenges to navigate.

Thank you Robert!!! We can’t wait for the next expedition!
The hike to the top of the butte is only about 40 minutes.
Always love your adventures 💀

Oh no! Wish more people would be respectful and do their research.

You didn't hike to the Peter B Kine mine/camp? Directions are in the book.
We did not…however, it gives us a reason to return.
I’m praying for a fire pit now that it’s cold 🥶 💀💀💀💀💀💀💀
It would definitely come in handy!!!
Great content, making me itch to get out and see more. Keep the motivation coming 👌🏼
We have so many places on our list!!! Lots of great places to discover and explore. Happy adventures.
You actually drove past the location where they cut up and buried the Mason bus.
We were wondering where the bus ended up.
What powered the microwave?
They have a lot of power on their rig. Solar and battery.
Always happy to see you adventures. What an awesome place to explore❤️
We definitely have to return. There are so many interesting sites out in DV. Great trails with scenery and challenges. Thanks for watching.

It is so rich in history. So many well preserved sites, cabins, and mines.
Did you happen to notice if Rita's cabin between Rodgers Pass and World Beater, was still standing?
If it is the same one we are thinking, it is, but looked in rough shape.

@@OpenRoad4Two Thank you so much… yes, I find that most of the time it really depends on line choice and having a good spotter😊
I made a solo trip in the same area last February, the Barker ranch was in a little oasis,to bad it’s reputation was ruined by a sick weirdo
It was a beautiful ranch and home. What we found at the ranch was definitely left behind by someone who was not of right mind.
We love Mengel Pass, definitely a crawling pace there. Nicely filmed guys ❤
Mengel Pass has some challenges. It is definitely an area that will test your patience and skills. We had a blast!
💀
How long ago did you do this trip? There maps still shows that warm springs road is closed or is it all opened back up?
We started the trip at Ballarat Ghost Town. We were prepared to turn around should the roads be impassable. If you do the trail, I would check with the National Park.
Thanks for sharing. We’re not that brave
That is NOT Mason's truck! They say say that to trap you silly tourists!
I don't see any fascination in vacant mine there's more history in native people than these broken down sheds.
A wonderful trail we explored and love is the Mojave Trail. It is rich in history and was a vital trail system for Native Americans tribes of the southwest.
It’s still part of history too.
