I was shown these places years ago by the old timers with one rule. Keep quiet about it. Too many people disrespect these desert gems. Unfortunately the look at me youtubers did not learn these lessons. I have watched these places slowly get trashed because of this. The videos are fun to watch but your videos mark the down fall of these gems. What happened to having an adventure without feeling the need to tell everyone. Days gone past

A properly running diesel heater will emit a small amount of visible exhaust for roughly 90 seconds on a cold startup and then again briefly on shutdown. When running there is no smoke and almost imperceptible scent. This, regardless of the brand of the heater. When they run right, they're great. Note, though, that these things are calibrated to run from sea level to 4900-5000 feet altitude. Above that you will see more smoke as they begin to run rich and then moreso the great the altitude. The fix? There isn't any. Only a "bandaid" setting or two if you dig around on YT. The cure is to when again well below 5000' alt to run it at full blast for an hour where it becomes pretty much self-cleaning. Cheers!

Neat vid. At around 9:45 you say, "skinny tire vs traditional width", I think. Remember, "skinny" has always been the traditional overlanding tire proportion. What you may be thinking of for wider tires may be called "contemporary"... and it is our belief (PCU/pizza cutters unite) that "contemporary" will go the way of the super-wide tires of the 1970s lmao. Good move on the tires...Made the same move from K2's 33's ( Tundra ) traditional wide to 33's Pizza tires...I've not noticed any difference even towing a 6K trailer. Enjoyed your trip tks

Skinny are usually better. The problem is visual appearance on an optically fat truck. For classic cars, it's absolutely great.

I've been having issues with the blue latches on mine lately too. They have become more and more difficult to open over time. I'm glad you mentioned it in your video. I'm hoping that applying some sort of lubricant will help with the problem but maybe a rubber mallet is a good idea in the meantime.

34x10.5r17 k02s on my stock jk. Just enough rub at full lock on the sway bar to take the dust off. Lighter than most so maybe rides abit higher: soft top, manual, half doors - don't know how much lift I'm getting from that compared to a more typical jk.

Kids is our favorite place to go. So beautiful. But I do think it is time your wife gets her own 4x. Once you get to drive, being a passenger isn’t as much fun. My husband n I have our own jeeps 😊

After doing all the research I opted for the pizza cutters too, I had 265/70-17's on my 4Runner and decided instead of going to the popular 285/70-17 (32.8"), which are actually a half inch smaller/shorter than the 255/80-17's (33.3") I got, they are also cheaper, in theory better on the trail and road and are slightly....very small difference easy on fuel mileage and steering components. One of the best reasons was, other than sliding and pinning the inner fender liner flush with the outer fender...the way Toyota should have made it to begin with, no other adjustments was necessary. I have even considered going to 255/85-17's (34.6") if I liked these when they wear out, but I really think that would require a gear swap, as the increase would be substantial.

Nice video, but those were not snake rattles you were hearing. Snakes rattle when threatened, and usually only one at a time. You were hearing Cicadas, commonly mistaken for Locusts.
