I think you should have layered the top and bottom with buttercream or other filling... That way you get something other than just cake when you take a bite... Pretty though!
I think this cake on its own probably has a lot of flavor, something like a poundcake that wouldn’t need to much filling. Plus the fondant on the outside probably provides that additional sweetness and flavor.

Best way to bake is with a scale. Measurements are way more accurate. I always recommend buying one (you can get a cheap one at Walmart)
